I just activated my Epic and have come to a horrifying realization- It won't sync with Outlook!!!! Are you kidding me? This is not good. I don't care how cool a phone is- I refuse to give up my e-mail/ calendar/ task program on my home pc. Any options out there?

However, when I try to sync my work email, it keeps giving me a "Unable to open connection to server."I use Microsoft exchange for my email and am using the same settings I used on my moment and pre, but it just won't connect. All of my contacts and calendar events are on this and I need it for my job.I would be willing to use a 3rd party app if necessary, I just need this to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI work in IT at my company and support mobile devices and their connection to our exchange server.One of our employees got the Epic 4g and she continues to have issues with ActiveSync not downloading emails right away. For example, this morning she had about 25 emails come in and on her Epic it showed the last email being from yesterday. I tried to manually refresh the email on the phone and it did not download any new emails. I rebooted the phone and it started downloading all her emails. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a normal occurrence for her. It will not download anything for a few hours to a few days then download everything at once.I know it is not an issue on our side as we have about 20 iPhones and about 15 Android devices working fine including my Evo. So far, she is the only one in our company with an Epic however we have about 3 employees that are about to leave their Blackberries and iPhones for the Epic and I have told them to hold of until we resolve this issue.

However, all my annoying meetings from work are now popping up as "notifications" in my phone's status bar. I can't stand corporate meetings, which are a colossal waster of time, and i don't want to be reminded of all the meetings on my work schedule. I was able to successfully turn of the Outlook mail notifications on my phone (and I still get Gmail notifications, since they are two separate email systems, which is exactly what I want). How do I turn my "Outlook calendar reminders," but still be reminded of my Google Calendar reminders, which is my personal, and far more important, calendar?

I dont mean as a one of import, but as in to being able to regularly do a sync between phone and PC so any new entries to are copied from one to the other? Is that possible, easy and robust to do with a Galaxy?
I just synchronized my new phone with my local Outlook-calendar (no Exchange) by using Samsung Kies. My PC OS is Windows 7.
I don't know, if this is a specific problem to Kies or a general Android-issue: All the past calendar entries (for a couple of years) have been synchronized too. I think, this is not really necessary.
And secondly, my mobile-calendar showed an automaticly generated entry every Monday with the information of the week-number until December 2011.
Is there any simple way to Sync it with my Outlook contacts and calendar? Also, can I connect it to my PC and tranfers photos and music directly or do I need to use special programs? If I want to transfer PDF's or Office Documents can I do that as a drag and drop?

I have no contacts on my phone right now. I deleted them all because i had up to 5 of the same contacts due to At&t sync, face book,and gmail all syncing at the same time. The software looks very good very similar to the BB software i'm just not sure if its outlook, my pc privileges, or something else blocking it. I am admin on my laptop.
On the evo the contacts showed there facebook profile pic but on the epic it is not syncing. I have set up my face book account but when I go to contacts there is no pic.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI didn't sync my contacts to gmail on my Instinct bc I've always just used Sprint's mobile sync. Contacts were automatically saved on the network, so when you bought a new phone or whatever, they could just send the contacts to your phone. Well, guess what! Epic doesn't support mobile sync. SO PLEASE BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS THROUGH GMAIL IF YOU WERE PLANNING ON RELYING ON MOBILE SYNC! Unfortunately, I don't have a "local" Sprint store. It will take more time to drive to one than to manually enter my contacts.

View 3 Replies View Relatedso I ending up having to do a Factory Reset (after only 3-days), and now I am having to input ALL my contacts again manually - After much searching on Google, I found that Sprint does offer a FREE backup service, however, it's NOT available on the Epic yet - I mean really?!? *rolls eyes* So, are there any other safe + free services out there to backup my contacts? I'd much rather use Sprint's Mobile Sync service, but that may be a ways off yet.
