sometimes my downloads dont download right away. it just stays on the "starting download" status. if i turn on airplane mode and turn it off then it resumes. any ideas why this happens?

I want to be able to download and install my app from my website, but when i do this at the moment i get the error:-
Download unsuccessful - Cannot Download. The content is not supported on the phone.
After looking into this it became apparent that the PHP Magic, that handles the downloads from the website, recognises the file as a .zip file rather then a .apk file and sends the it a .zip, that the phone does not recognise.
Does anyone know a way to get PHP Magic to recognise the file as an apk so that file extension does not get changed and the phone can recognise it?
Is there any non-market/market, fully functional free emulators I can download for older systems. I'm a broke college student.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed an app yesterday, (appbrain web downloader) but couldn't get appbrain app to download, so I uninstalled the appbrain web app. Today I tried to update a couple apps, and niether would update- either I got a message that said download paused, with no way to re start, our it would just show it as downloading, but not making any progress. I tried to install another app off the market, just to see, and out wouldn't install either....
Tried-
Clearing market updater
Rebooting phone
Removing battery and re starting phone
going to titanium backup and wiping market data
I have a paid app and a free version and updated both yesterday. Now I get hundreds of reports that the paid version won't download/install, but there's no problem with the free version of the app. The message typically reported is "download unsuccessful". Some users uninstalled the app and then tried to download the app and are now left without a working copy. Of course, most assume this is a programming error by me and it affects my rating.

On my school's site I try to download a variety of file types including .pdf .doc .ppt and some .zip and it's the same thing with all of them, this has happened on several other sites as well, but usually I can download these file types without a problem. I read on an xda post that I should have no problem after ICS downloading multiple apps at the same time, but I have found that untrue. I'm talking about multiple devices. OG Atrix, One X, S2, S3, S4, Note 2, Nexus 7. Using stock software, CM or other ROMs; Google Play will only download one app at a time which makes changing to a new phone incredibly time consuming.
Was that xda post correct or can no one download multiple apps at a time from the Play Store?
I am creating an application that checks the installation of a package and then launches the market-place with its id.
When I try to launch market place with id of an application say com.mybrowser.android by throwing an intent android.intent.action.VIEW with url: market://details?id=com.mybrowser.android, the market place application does launches but crashes after launch.
Note: the application com.mybrowser.android doesn't exists in the market-place.
MyApplication is my application.

However, going to that link in the G1 browser results in a 404 instead of opening the Market to our app.
Questions: 1. Is this a known issue? 2. Does the browser preprocess links on the page but not intercept them in a redirect?

I've been noticing of late that it isn't listing the apps that I have been downloaded thus far. It displays one/two/three items that 've been downloaded (no specific time line, either). Furthermore, sometimes, it also tends to display an app which has already been removed.
Considering how much Google has done to popularize them, it seems like a glaring oversight that I read about an interesting app on my laptop or desktop, see a link to the bottom of the article, and visit the Market page yet I then have to open up a QR code generator to be able to easily get to that page on my phone. Why doesn't google autogenerate one somewhere on the app page?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted (via simpleroot) a couple days ago and everything was fine beside my gallery not loading pics and being unable to download anything from the market. I fixed (I think) the gallery issue by updating my PRL and profile but the market issue is still there. I've tried rebooting, deleting the cache from the market and download manager, and even wiping. Now I'm out of ideas. Did I screw up the rooting process or something?

The phone and everything on it work fine except it is running Firmware 2.0 When I check for updates it says that there are no updates available. My old Droid that broke was running the 2.2 How do I upgrade to the 2.2 or will the update just appear one of these days? Also the yahoo mail app does not appear in the marlet on the new phone but I had been running it on my old phone. Is this due to the older operating system?
