May 20, 2010I'm having some call quality issues but they're mainly on the other end of the line. Those I'm speaking to are picking up some static/background noise. I really don't have any complaints with the call quality on my end. Also, I've noticed it seems to be worse when I'm in the car traveling. If I'm at home and make a call, others tell me the call is clear. Anyone else experience a similar scenario?

Dec 1, 2012Running Android 4.0.4 on Emerson EM543 Tablet. Could not install Google Play so had to install Android Market. Market apparently somehow disables the Android system LockScreen. So, now trying to get lockscreen back on boot (downloadable apps, as far as I can see, don't lock screen at system boot, which is what I want). I got a terminal emulator and was wondering if there was a Linux command line argument I could use to start Droid lockscreen at system startup.
I thought I was getting close with this solution, [URL] ....., but it is for an HTC Amaze 4G, and I can locate the AdroidManifest.xml files in the apk files on my system (using ROM Toolbox Pro Root Browser). But, even if I could figure out how to do it there, that file would be changed in the very next update. I am looking for a something similar, just need to know the xml filename or a command line argument that could be used in a startup script.

Sep 10, 2010Recently I have been having issues with viewing my email messages in the Yahoo Mail App. When I open some messages all is see is line after line of code instead of the message text. It doesn't seem to matter what the source email is (gmail, hotmail, etc). Some emails are ok some are not. Anyone else have this problem? Any fixes?

Jun 12, 2010I know I can just tap the screen, but so many times, it doesn't land the cursor right where I want to delete. Yes, I can go back, but that deletes everything. I just want to be able to move the cursor back to the part that I want to edit, add or delete.

Nov 12, 2013My Visual land Prestige 7 stock version was 4.0.4 but i wanted to root it to upgrade it to Cyg 10 Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I ran some scripts in gscript which caused serious problems just for a cwm restore. When restoring, it said failed to format /system. I tried to manually format it and it can't mount anything. What do I do now?

Mar 24, 2013That's basically the problem. My Visual Land Prestige 10 Android 4.0 10" Tablet i got from WalMart readily connects to all kinds of public wi-fi networks with no problems. BUT it will not connect to my home wi-fi network, which is from Cox Cable via a Linksys router.
I have several other devices, including a Palm Tablet, a Galaxy S3, and an Asus laptop, and all of these connect to my home wi-fi with no problem.
So why does my tablet not do so? It recognizes the existence of the wi-fi network, but never connects. It just says "saved", and that's it.

I heard that there might be an app or website that lets u make free calls through ur WiFi connection (at my hotel, for example) when I'm up there on business... Anyone know anything about this? Is there a way to run the WiFi only and not ANY other phone functions>>> (mobile network AND receiving calls or texts)..... so that I wouldn't get charged for incoming calls and messages?

Sep 15, 2010For some reason my wifi will completely disconnect about a minute after starting a phone call when bluetooth is on. If I turn off BT, wifi comes right back on. I can use phone without bt, wifi on, no problems.

Sep 26, 2012I have 5 layout folders. layout, layout-small, layout-normal, layout-medium and layout-large.
My app is heavily image based. As a result I have created the proper images. mdpi, hdpi and xhdpi. I don't think I need to worry about ldpi since screens are only getting bigger.
With this in mind and the need for me to now create a good landscape layout for all my pages, how do I go about this? Is it simple layout-land? No need for large/small/normal again right?
Considering that I've got all my hdpi and xdpi images do I even need layout-medium, layout-large and layout-normal? Because the images will be adjusting themselves based on screensize surely I can use one layout and have that work for all screens..?
It's all getting very confusing now that I'm trying to add a landscape view to my app. It doesn't do it very well at the moment so I will probably have to design a landscape friendly layout so I can understand that I would need to rebuild all my layouts for this particular use (We're talking about 100 layous here but oh well, I can manage it. )

Feb 11, 2010I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)
HTC EVO 4G :: Activating From BB On Another Line
Jun 1, 2010I'm going to be giving my dad my old phone and using his upgrade. However, he is going to be out of town all next week. The way I understand it is that if I preorder the Evo, I have to pick it up within a certain amount of time... so I can't just wait until he gets back to go pick it up and activate it. If I activate it on his line, deactivate it, activate it on MY line, REactivate his old cell phone on HIS line, and then finally activate my old (current) cell phone on his line when he gets home... am I going to have to pay a billion activation fees? Or am I just going to have to not preorder, wait to buy my Evo until he gets back... and risk tons of backorders?

May 15, 2010So i preordered the phone at BB and since i do not have an upgrade due to buying a hero in december i think what i am going to do is open a second line on june 4th to get the phone for 199.99 and then close it and pay the 200 ETF. i wouldnt have to pay any deposit to get a new line. i already talked to sprint they said i could do this even though they dont recommend it. total it will cost me 400 bucks, cheaper than the full price and i get a phone june 4th which is all that matters to me after researching this phone for months.
i know its a crazy idea but it works for me. anybody else adding a line just to get the EVO?

Nov 3, 2010Ive had the evo for about a week, and the operating system seemed to be acting a bit buggy but i put a fix on that real quick. now a persisting issue i have is that there is a line going down the middle of my screen on every page no matter where i go. i didnt have it for about a day or so and it seems to be some kind of seperation or something.
