View 2 RepliesSomehow I managed to get my Samsung Google Nexus S 4g phone unlocked and rooted today. In the process I installed the TWRP recovery as per the particular instructions I had. I would like to install something called the Avatar ROM but they say I need the ClockworkMod recovery. Should that make a difference? if yes, where can I find it and how do I install it instead of the TWRP on the phone now?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to follow the tutorial to take my Nexus 7 (2013) from it's just unboxed state to dual booting Android and Ubuntu Touch. I succeeded in unlocking the tablet. I am using Ubuntu 13.10 on my laptop and installed the whole Android SDK and everything (even though I already had Eclipse installed for learning Java). I've reached two sticking points.
First, the part where I'm told to copy the three files (the MultiROM zip, the kernel zip, and recovery image) to the root directory of the tablet: it's not clear how to do that. The files wouldn't copy except to the internal storage folder. Or is that the root directory?
Second, I am unable to boot to recovery.
Code:
adb reboot recovery
command only brings up the android on his back with the red triangle containing an exclamation mark. That screen lasts a minute or so and then the device reboots normally on its own. I have tried several power and volume button combinations to get a different result at this point, but to no avail.
Galaxy S3 rooted + unlocked
how to write to "/sys/class" files? I have checked to make sure that the files I want to modify have permissions to 0777.
From terminal I enter.. "echo 1 >/sys/class/lcd/panel/gamma_mode"
I am still unable to change the setting.
My phone is Huawei u8950 (unlocked and rooted). Just some time back i flashed a boot image
But after i reboot a bluee screen appears and i'm stuck there.. No even entering to recovery mode (vol plus+ and Power). I pulled the battery off and put it again, Still after the logo the blue screen appears and stays..
How to get to the recovery..? I had taken a backup to my SD card, but as i am not able to get in to the Recovery mode i'm not able to restore the back up...
I have Pantech Flex P8010. I was rooted on ICS 4.0.4 and then I installed Jelly Bean Update by restoring rooted backup of Jelly Bean 4.1.2 uploaded by Zapper_Master.
After Jelly Bean I got smooth working phone. But, as other I had same issue of Wifi not working and automatic 2x Reboots after atleast gap of 6-7 hours. (I was knowing it before I installed update as others who updated by restoring zip also faced same issue. But, It was ok for me as I like Jelly Bean the most.)
But, there was way to enable native wifi tethering on this lovely phone on ICS. [URL] ......
And I followed same steps (After Installing SQLite Editor, I just backed up database & changed value from settings.db secure table on actual database.)
Line 1. softap_free_supported
Line 2. softap_entitlement_interval
Change Line 1′s value to 1 in the SQL editor. Change Line 2′s value to 0 in the SQL editor save and close or just close depending on the editor.
SUPPER IMPORTANT if the file permissions on settings.db are not rw-rw-rw make them so in your file explorer.
There was a risk of bricking phone as there is no recovery available for Jelly Bean.
I just wanted to let others know that above method also works on Jelly Bean. But, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I will not be responsible if anything goes wrong & you brick your lovely flex.
I got AT&T Samsung Captivate i897 (2.1 Eclair). I unlocked and rooted my phone. I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedBy now everyone knows the Droid X has an encrypted bootloader that is going to take a serious effort by the Android Developers to crack so we can load custom Rom's. What needs to be done is get Droid X phones into the hands of these developers so they can get to work. Pete(Bugles Beast) won the All Droid contest so he has one and Bird man collected enough donations in just over a day to get a Droid X that he will have on 7/17. That's a start but I'd like for the Android community to pull together and lets get some donations to the developers, any amount helps $1, $2, $5 whatever the amount...skip the morning Dunkin Donuts, bagel, etc for one day and it will add up fast. I can continue to update this thread with new developers that can help us all by working on the Droid X as enough donations are collected so they can purchase their own phones. The developers create all the Roms, themes, etc for the rooting community to enjoy...lets make it a little easier for them to continue this development on all the new Android phones as they come to market.
I sent a few messages out to some developing teams and the first response back was from Cyanogen that the person he recommends is Koush. Once he has enough donations I can list another developer for us to donate to and help the rooting/unlocking cause. I received numerous requests that a donation link be setup for ChevyNo1. I contacted Chevy to see if he was interested in helping hack the Droid X which he was. Here is a direct link for donations for him, you can check the link out over at his forums as well: http://ssandroid.com/ This is our chance, so lets start donating to ChevyNo1 for a Droid X, please put a note that the donation is for a DroidX: http://bit.ly/awetS5. If anyone would like to recommend a development team or developer let me know. Please spread the word, also you can let me know other Forums to post the same message.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that when using a flashable zip, the files that are copied over retain the same timestamp as the other files in that directory.
I am using the 'package_extract_file' command through the updater-script. Is there a way to change the timestamp on the files that have been copied over to system folders to reflect the correct time/date (through the script)?

Which security software would you say is better for a non-rooted/rooted Android?
I have Cerberus on my SGS3 (Rooted), but a friend of mine has a non rooted SGS3 and wants to buy either Phone locator Pro or Cerberus.
1. (For Non-Rooted) In your mind, which would you say is better and why?

Apparently I have approximately 466MB of RAM. If so will I have 512 MB. The question comes because if I run the command "free" or if I see from the above command in LowTotal line, only tells me 233 MB ...
What is the correct information in RAM for my device? I did the same procedure to another cell which mine where I'm more sure of having 512 MB of memory and this is what I get: URL>...The funny thing is that it shows me 584 MB of MemTotal and the same amount for LowTotal. It seems my device, the first , is not using the total amount of RAM available.

I want to give a hard reset to LG Optimus Sol which was initially blocked Vodafone and I unlocked it at a service to work with all networks. If I hard reset the phone will become locked again in Vodafone? I want to do this because the phone does not connect in data storage mode and the bluetooth does not work.
You can tell me if I hard reset will install all the default programs on the phone they had originally? Or is another possibility to reinstall the factory software without being locked again in vodafone? I searched the forums but some said that the phone will be locked again and others say that will remain unlocked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI flashed my Verizon Note 2 (SCH-I605) to the SOKP Rom from a Jedi X Rom (v13 I believe). After the flash, I noticed my network was not working. Eventually I found out that the device was registering as a GT-7105. Not sure what went wrong, as the rom was flashed with no errors. I also ensured that my recovery was on the appropriate version (TWRP 2.6.3.3 in this case) and I also did a factory reset. To try and rectify the issue I wiped the phone and tried various other roms. In every one of those cases I found that the phone was constantly roaming. I had checked my network mode and tried switching between Global and LTE/CDMA which did nothing. Being completely out of options, I just installed to a stock rom through Odin (VRAMC3 4.1.2) and let it update via Wifi to 4.3 and still nothing. (I am well aware of the Knox security feature and will address this in a moment)
Here are the different ways I tried to diagnose the issue after this that led nowhere:
1. Made contact with a Tier-2 specialist from Verizon that tried various diagnostic methods and found that my phone was simply not registering on the Verizon network, or ANY other network for that matter.
2. I went to a Verizon store and got my SIM card replaced.
3. I even went to a repair shop to see if the phone possibly had a faulty connection.
I have already verified that the IMEI is correct based on the sticker behind the battery. The PRL is on 15310. The very last thing I tried was entering "getprop" inside a terminal. I'm taking a guess here, but I noticed my ril.serialnumber was all 0s. If I need to root my phone again to try something, I am more than willing to. My phone is out of warranty and not insured, I'm not really concerned about the Knox warranty trigger unless it will render my phone completely unusable.
I really want to learn how to make good update-script file ,,

Getting MissedIT! to display the correct unread count for AquaMail? I'm running Nova Launcher on my gorgeous Galaxy Note 3, and also have TeslaUnread installed. While TeslaUnread will correctly display AquaMail unread counts, it doesn't support the display WhatsApp unread counts. MissedIT! will do both, but for the life of me I can't get a true unread count in AquaMail.
