I know there are a lot of old threads but the seem to mostly be about syncing to the clouds, I have 32gb on my EVO LTE and I'm out of space. Iv beef using the cable and drag and dropping but its a pain. I would rather do over the air but I don't mind using the cable if I have to, I don't even care if its automatic. Also I have an old WD my book world edition if there is anyway to use that ?

One of my main queries is though, file transfer from my Galaxy to my MacBook Pro - why can't I see previews of what I'm transferring? I have to transfer the file to my MacBook, and then decide if I want to keep it or not because that's the only way it'll reveal what it is. I thought I'd be able to SEE what's on my phone to then be able to select what I want to transfer. But all I see are file names which as you know are always just like IMG_0000786597.jpg
I recently used the USB to charge my phone on the laptop.Next time i went to look in my gallery most of my pics and videos are gone. i also can't find a folder on my computer that contains them. are they gone forever or is there a way to retrieve them?

Attempting to put SD card in other phones = same result.

Here's what's interesting to me...If I go START>COMPUTER>RIGHT CLICK>MANAGE>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT>DISK MANAGEMENT...IF I have the SD card connected to the computer, then that box freezes right there and stops responding...If I disconnect the SD card, box automatically pops up and shows the hard drives on the computer. Plug it back it, that box stops responding again.
Another intersting note...Now AUTOPLAY is attempting to pop up and run...it keeps running the bar back and forth like it's attempting to read, but then it just disappears. If I go to MY COMPUTER and look, I can see the F DRIVE there...but when I attempt to click on it...It just freezes that box as well, stops responding and I have to force close it.
With the AutoPlay kicking on and MY COMPUTER recognizing the F Drive, that leads me to believe that the card itself isn't 100% toast and recoverable...Has the controller module on the card gone out?
And FWIW, I have tried getting the card to read on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux and OS-X...The AutoPlay that it's doing now is on an XP machine. Obviously, I can't attempt to salvage any files if I can't get the computer to atleast recognize (and continue to recognize) the card.
Upgraded to ICS on my Nexus S OTA yesterday. It was All right,for a while but after one reboot the gallery app doesn't show any pics or videos from sd card nor any of the music app recognize any music files from sd card.

I want to be able to use/view the video's I record with my phone on my computer. (open from an email or use in window's movie maker)I have a new computer with Windows seven at work and a Vista laptop at home. I can send the video to myself and try to open in from my email or tether to the computer and transfer the file manually. Either way I can't open with windows media player. Video's taken with default "Camcorder" app on a myTough 3G running Android 1.6.I know it has something to do with the codec's the phone uses but wonder why they wouldn't use codec's that are compatible with the most commonly used pc's?Is there any way around this? Some kind of converter for the computer or for the phone?Is there another camcorder app that can record video with a different codec or is it phone hardware specific?So far have been able to use these forum's to sort out most of my Android problems but I'm stumped on this one. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Should be more user friendly.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was looking at the N1 on youtube and notice it's picture gallery which looks so nice. I went on the market to see if they have something similar....and yes they do. It's called 3d gallery. It's so much better than the gallery that came with the phone. If you've heard of cool iris that's what it basically is now for your phone. It works fine on the DINC. If this has been posted already just ignore and delete this thread.

However some of the pictures I sent to the computer from the phone are not on the phone when I go back to it later. Where are they? On the SD card i assume, but how do I view the card on the phone, not through the computer?
And the pictures, and videos actually, are not stored in the Album either. One other question, someone in the forum said they use ATK sparingly. Any reason for using it sparingly, I think it is pretty good, but is it really?
I have I think a 16GB Micro SD card. But I can't seem to be able to use it. I can't save nothing on it, and when I installed this app Astro, a file manager, I still couldn't do nothing with it. My apps are saved to my phone, and the pictures I take with my phone and the videos are also saved into my phone. Only songs are saved into my SD card. Am I doing something wrong? or is the Micro SD card only made for songs, and not the pictures and the videos and the apps? I have an app to back up my information called m:IQ, and there it says I used up 46% phone memory, and only 2% of the Storage card. So can anybody tell me what's wrong exactly?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSending pics and videos to a site for sharing is pretty easy. Now this is considering you have Photobucket and You Tube. Couldn't tell you about others. Basically after setting up your accounts with them, the camera software will send the pics to them thru the "share" option. Videos require a Wi-Fi connection. The new You Tube now does HD video, so they show up in high-quality 720p. Pretty much easy as can be. Sent a 15mb video in about a minute or so. Thought that was darn good.

I am a former blackberry user and I've been trying to figure out the file system in this droid. I need to be able to do some things and I'm not sure they can be done. I have some pictures and vids that I want to keep private. I am often showing my pics and vids to people and the ones I don't want to be seen are in the same folders. I have tried to move certain pics and vids to a different place using the phone itself, but I can't figure that out.
I was hoping that when I plugged up the phone to my PC it might recognize it like it does a camera or something but it doesn't. I even installed the motorola software but that didn't do anything. If I take the card out of the phone and put it directly in my PC, I can see it that way and modify things, but when I put it back in the phone nothing is as I had changed it on the PC.
i may totally be overlooking this but are the pics/vids sent via MMS stored. If they are on the SD card is there away to make an album? If they are not stored locally, is there an app that does this? I have SMS Backup, but i want the MMS files to be local on my SD card and in an album as all other pics/vids.

I have transferred them across to my Sony Ericsson X10 phone via the data lead and my pc shows that they are there but they are not recognised by the phone and so will not show them. I spoke to Sony Ericsson UK and was told that i have to download a programme that enables the phone to play/see them. When i asked what programme they just said look for something on the internet. Does anybody know of any suitable programme?

It was 9mb of precious space and when I connect my phone to my PC I cant find it anywhere and I for sure can't find it anywhere on my phone. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my Moment yesterday and I have spent some time getting to know my new device and all. Well a lil while ago I started getting everything ready to swap off my old phone (pics, ring tones, music and such) Well I started by taking the media on my old sd card and put it all into a single folder on my PC. I then hookede up the Moment to the PC and all that went ok. I started to transfer the pics, I highlighted most of em and clicked on "MOVE" selected files (first mistake, should have COPIED!) Anyway I MOVED them into the Moment folder . . . DMIC (or however its called). . . THUMNAILS (thinking, PICS. . Thumbnails for some reason made sense to me) I got look on the moment and there is nothing there. NOW ALL my pics are GONE! I have NO CLUE at all where they went or how to access them. My first reaction was. . . OK the Moment didnt recognize the pics but they are still in there if I look at the folder FROM the PC. . . but they are NOT.
Also. . . how come the Moment will not recognize my old ringtones?
In the end I ended up adding all my music into another folder on the Moment called 100driod or something like that and I can access the tunes and even added a couple random pics to that same folder too and those pics showed up fine. Just need to find my lost ones now!

I downloaded and installed from the Android Market. When you first start the app, it scans your phone for media. I turned on my Droid's Wifi. The TwonkyServer Mobile was immediately visible to any DLNA or UPnP client. It took 2 minutes. No setup was involved. The UI looks pretty cool too.
I want a very simple which I can't find for now. I want an app that syncs certain folders on my pc to certain folders on my phone. Like if I have a in the Sync folder two folders Music and Documents when I add a song or a document in the Sync folder I want with the touch of one button or automatically they to be synced with my device. I tried dropbox but it didn't work for me. I have to favorite all files that I want to be available offline. I tried Android Sync Manager too but I didn't find any option to automaticly sync a folder on my pc with a folder on my device. If I want to sync music I must first add it to Music in Android Sync Manager and then sync.
