I've had my SGS2 for about 2 weeks now. It's awesome, but I have a problem with the icons, especifically the VIDEO icon, I move it to one place, and after I download an app or move another icon it moves itself to the last page of icons. This happens like twice a day. I also have a folder with 27 icons, did a battery pull and the folder was empty and all the icons where roaming different pages.

I noticed that the SGS 3 has a pop up player, I was wondering what would be the best pop up player on a ICS phone ( SGS2 )?

I have a sgs2 with a modded rom. But i already use the cyanogen.
Both have the SIP active already but the cyanogen have the option to change user-agent.
There's any way to put this option in the other modded ROM too? Or there's any app with this option active?

when I connect my SGS2 or my sons Exhibit 2 to my windows 7 laptop. The pc recognizes the phones, I see all the files, from adobe-digital-editions to Zedge. The problem is that they show up under Removable Disk (F as "Shortcut" and size is 2kb each. I cant open or move anything to them. I'm thinking its something on the pc side because 2 phones are doing this.

I have a rooted SGS2 with NeatRom. And I am sharing my internet with wifi hotspot to my computer.
Is there any mode or anything, that makes my phone go into some mode, that only enables internet/data sharing and such.. Like a modem, to save battery and also, that the actual phone dont use so much data.

Recently, I came across the 'no connection', retry - error in both Google Play and Gmail on my rooted SGS2 with CM7. Haven't had this problem before, it just started out of the blue.
I have tried
- setting date/time to correct values
- clearing data of Gmail and Play app
- re-flashing gapps
- battery pull
all without success. The Gmail app seems still to be able to receive messages, just not sending. Also, the 'no connection' error pops up 95% of the time, but not always.

When I got my phone at the end of last year I rooted it using a Chain-Fire kernel - v 4.2, I think. After flashing, it worked perfectly, since when I have flashed the old bootloader to get my USB Jig working to remove the yellow triangle and flashed a patch again to allow the USB Jig to reset the binary counter.
I have very much wanted to install and get the new Sky Go application working.
What I had to do was flash the Stock kernel for my Stock Rom - I have never messed with my Rom - it is Gingerbread 2.3.4 in a CPW phone here in the UK.
Doing the flash and installing Voodoo OTA (to temporarily hide my root) has been enormously successful
Now then to my query....
The original Chain-Fire mod v 4.2 installed CWM.
After of course cancelling the "hide root" function to show my phone as rooted once more, I went to do a backup, using CWM but it refuses to work. It says my kernel needs v 5.0. Obviously the Stock Rom I flashed to get Sky Go working has thrown CWM some what.
I have downloaded Rom Manager from the Market but this seems not to work either - it starts to work (reboots) but then halts with the following messages: -
E : failed to verify whole-file signature
E : signature verification failed
Installation aborted
What I would like is some way of installing a backup previously made before flashing the Stock kernal and also to make a fresh backup now.

For the last 5 days I am experiencing extreme battery drainage(Android OS nearly 100% Battery Usage ). Back when it began I did not install anything suspicious or battery consuming software. I never go full screen brightness, and all unnecessary apps are either deleted or disabled. I have tried Factory Resetting, Wiping all possible caches, systems, internal/external SD cards. I even tried manually deleting all folders from my PC. I have tried installing custom kernels, roots and even stock ROM. Right now I'm with stock ROM with CF root.
Phone state: Model number- GT-i9100; Android 4.0.3; Baseband v. i9100XXLPS, Kernel v. 3.0.15-i9100XXLPQ-CL223505 se,infra@SEP-94 #3; Built number IML74K.XWLP7. And here is what I get from the battery report :
i41.tinypic(dot)com/1j9nae.png
I have tried full discharge and charge to 100% and calibration. Even cleared the battery stats It just doesn't work. I am using Nova Launcher. Even after going back to TwLauncher I am still getting 98% Android OS usage. I don't use Data Mode and Wi-Fi isn't always on. When charged and calibrated at 100% at 21:00pm, in the morning at 9:00am phone battery is completely empty and shut down.
I'd like to use the stock ROM, with a nice battery stable kernel & still with Nova Launcher. NOTE: This is still happening with a NEW battery.

I installed Resurrection Remix v9.6 on my SGS2 which is brilliant apart from my one issue. I can't find Kies Air on the Market place and I can't install it direct from my PC as it says it is not compatible with my device.
I use this quite a lot and think this ROM would tick all ot the boxes if I could get it working.

I have a few questions about TWRP. I have been using it for a while now on my SGS2 t989 hercules variant and I like it alot but there are some things I am not sure about.
First when I make backups is it okay to only backup the System,Data, boot for regular backups? Or Should I just check everything system,data,boot,recovery,cache,.android_secure,sd-ext? Also if I make a data backup is that okay to restore after flashing a new rom instead of using titanium? I would think not but I want to know for sure.
Next thing is under the wipe menu, what is rotation data? I have never heard of it before. So should I wipe it once in awhile when I wipe the cache and dalvik?

The racing game formerly known as Deliverace is gearing up for a cross-platform release, as soon as it passes Apple's QA service. Reckless Racing - Android app on AppBrain. The game downloads from market is about 3mb. When you launch the game it downloads the main file to the SD card (even on Android 2.1). The server was over run yesterday but seems to be working today but still a bit slow. The game itself is great fun ! I'll try out online game later...The game works on the HTC Legend but the frame rate drops in race. If you can pull out a lead and drop the other cars of screen its just about playable. However it is borderline on the HTC Legend, so be warned.

Don't have 3D capabilities or a super phone like the EVO or Droid, it's the Samsung Intercept, which is an updated Moment. Love racing games but unfortunately this phone can't handle graphics like the big boys out there. Really just looking for a fun game, doesn't have to be visually extreme.

I was wondering why Android keeps lagging a bit. I mean, quadcore should be fast enough to stop that from happening right? So I started Googling.
I got this article: [URL] .....
Basically it says this: Android's UI rendering thread does not work in real-time (the priority is not set at that), unlike iOS'. It's just about the one thing that's still better about iOS in my opinion.
How to make this thread render in real-time?

When I first had my HTC Hero, I found about android's DLNA capabilities and it was pretty. Amazing that I could stream music and pictures to my tv, even videos in some rare occasions but actual on-the-fly transcoding was completely impossible. Now skip ahead to my third phone, ZTE Blade III.
1Ghz and 512mb ram is quite good for what I need and I was hoping that it could transcode some poor-quality videos I film with my phone. Why? Well, my TV has pretty small range of supported video formats and of course that my phone records video in the unsupported format. I tried a wide varety of DLNA apps and none of them had anything to do with transcoding. I tried twonky, skifta, bubbleupnp... No result.
Why is this so taboo? I understand if the file is in full HD but Blade III records in VGA. It shouldn't be a problem
to transcode or am I mistaken?
tl;dr need app that can transcode files in real time and send them to my tv (something like wmp but on android).

I developed and published a game about two months ago. Since then, I've received several negative comments about input lag in the game. Before releasing the game, I already took several measures to hopefully prevent lag from occurring: 1) Game is almost entirely written in native code 2) After initialization, my process never invokes the GC during gameplay (no GC executions from my process show up in the log) 3) Average FPS is generally > 30 fps 4) I tested the game on both a Motorola Milestone and an HTC Magic and I don't experience any noticeable input lag (except perhaps when the GC is executed by other processes) My guess is that the lag that users are experiencing is a result of the GC being invoked by another process. Has anyone been able to address this issue? Specifically, have any game developers been able to achieve a completely lag-free game and thus avoid negative ratings that drag down your app? The only other suspicious thing I've noticed is the following lines showing up in my log any time a SoundPool clip is played: D/AudioHard wareMot ( 1054): AudioMgr:AudioStreamOutMot::standby called D/AudioHardwareMot( 1054): AudioMgr:Output 0xb538 entering standby D/AudioHardwareMot( 1054): AudioMgr:Closing stereo device D/AudioHardwareMot( 1054): AudioMgr:Output 0xb538 exiting standby
