Im using xperia U - Gingerbread
In Xperia keyboard while messaging only alphabets and some others buttons are displayed. Not even a single special charactor is displayed. For giving a fullstop I need to press special characters button and need to select the special character from that.
There is an option in ICS and didnt found in 2.3

Everytime I use a fullstop, it automatically puts a space afterwards, this is annoying me now, but I cannot find a setting to disable it.

I have 2 POP email accounts and I'm looking to delete several messages without having to click on the X next to each one. View 2 Replies View Relatedwhen im typing and its suggesting a word if i click the next key it draws a small circle. if i want to move to the next word i need to either click on the suggested word; press space; or press the back key then go front again. any way to fix this? i know alot of you will say get the htc but i gave it a try and surprisingly (dont bash me) i liked the original more. i would have stuck to htc but when i tried changing key sizes (height or width) it wouldnt let me. my only problem with the keyboard is having big fingers i missclick alot, something i never had an issue with on the iphone (once again dont bash me). so in conclusion i guess what im asking is 1. can i stop the keyboard from entering circles everytime i press next. 2. how can i change key type on htc (i know its in setting but it didnt work). 3. anyone know of another keyboard that has larger/spaced out keys like the iphone?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got a PRS t1 book reader and then discovered it was a hackable Android device URL...I like to be outdoors in the summertime, and the daylight readable screen is great. Which got me to thinking it would be great to use it for work, edit documents etc..Is this at all feasible:
1) Run VNC client on my PRS t1 (is it up to it?)
2) Run VNC server on my android phone, pair the _phone_ with a full size Bluetooth keyboard.
2) Connect the Phone > PRS T1 via WiFi
3) Use full-size keyboard to enter text in the sunshine..
Is there not a way to do a question mark while using the slide out keyboard?

I really like the idea of having a full slide-out keyboard but I would also like a virtual one so if I'm not wanting to say much I can just use the virtual keyboard or if I'm in an area where it needs to be quiet I don't need to have the sound of the keyboard sliding open.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently wanted to get some addresses I have stored in contacts and found that they only show up as "show on map". The problem is, quite a few of my addresses are really long and you can't see the whole address under the "show on map" option, and I don't want to map it! I just want to see it so I can write it on an envelope. I guess I could map it every time I need an address, which is a waste of time, but even then, some of the addresses are in other countries and the map func. fails the address disappears before I get a chance to write down all the info. Is there a way to actually view the entire address without the map part?
On a side note, does anyone know why I can't sync birthday info for contacts from google contact's? Mine never show up, I only get Facebook birthdays.
And while I'm at it, even thought I use mybackup pro, when I have to do a hard reset, all my stored ringtones for contacts disappear and i have to program them all in again.
Does Xperia Tipo have quick dialing options?All the previous phones had that function..I can't find it on my phone.

I want to 'restart' the service. (Let's not argue why I want to do that)
I do that by:
unbindService(_serviceConnection);
// Do some initialization on service
bindService(new Intent(this, MainService.class), _serviceConnection, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE);
I noticed service doesn't die(onDestroy doesn't run) until I call next bindService();
So some static initialization I did on service got cleared by onDestroy() implementation.
Question: How do you make sure unbindService() will stop service (run onDestory()),
so that I could do initialization after and re-run bindService()?
How to do it? Can't use the phone funny message on screen "triangle with an exclamation mark inside and a mob phone in front" any one knows what to do?

HOWEVER, I found a new keyboard (not yet released) so it is in beta form....and I love it. AND, since I don't visit this forum every single day, I may have missed someone else raving about it.
It's called Swype. Not available in Market, but you can find it online and put it in your SD card, then install it from there. Run through the tutorial and you will be sold!
I know I saw this somewhere, but couldn't find it. Anybody have a zip or some sort of file to get the keyboard back from 1.5 onto the 2.1 ROMs? Not having the button to minimize/hide the keyboard is bugging me and I hate the swipe to hide.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an xperia S running rooted stock 4.1.2 jellybean, and I'd like to install a keyboard from the playstore as a system application. The keyboard works fine when installed from the playstore, but when I push it to system (and set the permissions properly) it just force closes and does not work at all.
I've pushed various other apps from the playstore into system and they have worked without fault. Is there something finicky with installing keyboards from the playstore as system applications?
I am an android user, using sony xperia z with 4.3. I have problem about the google voice (GV for now) and keyboard, im not the same as everybody with missing GVT or wanting to disable it, i actually like it a lot, especially because it support my language (not english).
using voice input is easy:
1. i press the GV icon
2. i talk
3. text coming out, there will be miss typed/heard sentences
4. you know, if the system doubt your speech and want to correct it, you just tap the word with grey underline,it indicating that it have multiple option
5. then you choose the correct sentences
My step number 4 is a problem, because the correction that pop up to correcting/delete sentences is being blocked by keyboard, that is why i say it also a keyboard problem. so i cannot choose anything from it. and i have this problem since 4.2.2, the first day i upgraded it to 4.3 is okay, but suddenly it happen again. i don't think i will resetting or formatting because i have a lot of app and chat history that i cannot delete.

Tipping I can stand all the pains of the Droid Eris, But the keyboard issue I've been having is on top of the list. The keyboard randomly stops working. I go to respond to a text, or search the Internet..And the keyboard shows the flashing line as if to type, But it wont type. I will randomly enter letters and the spell check box still pops up. I restart it, or remove the battery but once i turn it back on and try typing again and still same issue. Then 5 min later it works. Its random. Annoying. And Ideas what could cause it? or fix it?
