I know I saw this somewhere, but couldn't find it. Anybody have a zip or some sort of file to get the keyboard back from 1.5 onto the 2.1 ROMs? Not having the button to minimize/hide the keyboard is bugging me and I hate the swipe to hide.

Often I'll be busy browsing or writing a message or whatever and I'll be interrupted by the full-screen incoming call display.
I'm looking for something that automatically puts incoming calls in the background, ideally just in the notification bar or something without interrupting the current app.
It's particularly annoying when I'm writing a message in Opera for example and an incoming call wipes the message because Opera doesn't have a proper restore state.
I don't want to block calls all together, just make them less intrusive.
I found a program called backgrounder, but it didn't seem to work, and from the youtube video I saw of it, a full screen still appears to pop up on an incoming call.
Installed the XDA keyboard so I could access Speech-to-text input. Works great except that the "Hide Keyboard" button doesn't appear after I disabled the "Smiley Hack" per instructions I'd read. I never use smileys but often use the hide keyboard function.
View 9 Replies View RelatedInstalled Vlingo and am absolutely loving it so far. One thing that is a minor annoyance though is that I'm not finding a way to minimize the keyobard at all. On the default keyboard for the HTC Hero there is a button that minimizes the keyboard. Is this not an option at all with the Vlingo keyboard or am I just missing it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've flashed with the new froyo ROM with senseUI and am finding it brill. One quirk though is that when typing out a text message, there's no key in the bottom left to minimize/esc from the keyboard. If I use the Back key it exits the app (chomp). It's still beta!)
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo the "minimize keyboard" button in the lower left of the landscape qwerty keyboard works maybe every 5th time. I only started noticing this after the 2.1 OTA. However my wife has the 2.1 on her Eris as well and hers works perfectly. If I make sure to push the very top edge of the button, it works fine, but just pressing it normally in the middle rarely works. Perhaps there is something wrong with that corner if the screen.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a tabbed view with one Activity per tab, and when I switch from the first tab, which has a TextView, to the second tab, which only shows a clickable list, the soft keyboard is still there. I want it to go away.

But this does not work, because there is no relevant view to provide, as there is no View on the screen that takes keyboard input.
I recently installed an AOSP styled ROM, and I absolutely love it. The only thing I don't like however, is the AOSP keyboard. How can I put the HTC keyboard back onto the phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to downgrade to version .5 for days! Im about ready to throw my hero out the window! I have rooted it before, So I know im capable of it. Nothing ever goes right, ive tried every method gold card included. When im trying to downgrade to .5 when it come time "upgrade" the only option that the installer gives me is .6 which I already have! So ive tried to run that to see what might and happen and it always gets an error 170 usb connection after its at about 70 percent!

Cool tablet but coming from Blackberry Playbook (still own it) it just kills me that the taskbar (i think this is how it is called) is always visible whether watching a movie or playing a game. My samsung is supposed to get ICS update soon and i am wondering if it has option to hide taskbar? Having it always visiblereally ruins whole experience playing games or watching movies.

It was somewhere on these forums be it moment, eris, or hero. I would assume if it was on another phones page the concept would be the same. Any info on this my fellow Hero comrades?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using the stock texting option and have a group set up. This weekend I sent out a group text and several of them went to the email addresses. I think this is because the ?primary? contact is the phone then the email address. Before the update all texts would go to the proper number so the people would get the texts. Does anybody know how to change the ?primary? contact? I hate to think this is just another thing that 2.1 added (or took away) to make this phone??.well less that I expect at this point.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently wanted to get some addresses I have stored in contacts and found that they only show up as "show on map". The problem is, quite a few of my addresses are really long and you can't see the whole address under the "show on map" option, and I don't want to map it! I just want to see it so I can write it on an envelope. I guess I could map it every time I need an address, which is a waste of time, but even then, some of the addresses are in other countries and the map func. fails the address disappears before I get a chance to write down all the info. Is there a way to actually view the entire address without the map part?
On a side note, does anyone know why I can't sync birthday info for contacts from google contact's? Mine never show up, I only get Facebook birthdays.
And while I'm at it, even thought I use mybackup pro, when I have to do a hard reset, all my stored ringtones for contacts disappear and i have to program them all in again.
Today I woke up, tried to pull down my email and look up a couple things on the web and my phone keeps telling me I have no connection. The sync icon (arrows chasing each other in a circle) is stuck at the top of the screen and my battery is disappearing rapidly. I've done a couple battery pulls and reboots with no change.What I'd NORMALLY do is update the data profile under menu/settings/about phone/system updates... But something I didn't know about CM6 is that this option is not there. (unless it's hidden somewhere else, then please point me in the right direction)."No problem", I think There are other ways to skin this cat. I type in ##3282#, which should allow me into a menu that allows me to refresh the data service... The phone doesn't respond at all "Odd", I think. So I try ##786#, which should open the reset menu... The phone didn't respond to that, either.

I remember literally doing my HW online with that kb. Was just wondering if devs ever considered using that kb with 2.1 builds. I'm sure our kb's can be better than what it is (laggy).

I have an application with a TabActivity and when I change from one tab with edit fields to another that does not need any user input I would like the virtual keyboard to be hidden. I've tried setting android:windowSoftInputMode="stateAlwaysHidden" on the manifest for the activity that doesn't need user input but it didn't work (maybe because the activity is triggered by a TabActivity).
I've found the method hideSoftInputMethod(IBinder, int) in the InputMethodManager class but I don't know how to get the IBinder object that this method needs.
How do I get that IBinder object? Are there other ways to hide the soft keyboard?
It would be even better if I could make the soft keyboard automatically hide when an EditText loses focus.
I'm using the Desire, and I've just discovered Swype, which I love.Except for ONE little thing.How the hell do ya get the keyboard to disappear so you can hit the 'send' or 'save' button which is lurking below it?With the default keyboard, you have a button dedicated to hiding the keyboard, but Swype doesn't appear to have one of those.
