Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Chinese Keyboard To Android Keyboard
Aug 17, 2010
I've changed the keyboard to Chinese, to see what it was like, but don't know how to change it back to the Android keyboard (the symbol for changing input doesn't appear to be there any more).

I am a no-ob cause i got the phone yesterday. anyways, I find this phone/system pretty weird as there are settings for Chinese input but there is nothing about switching on Chinese keyboard in the settings where u turn in on or off. is it because my phone has install in the euro edition? and how can i get it so i can type Chinese as i need it sometimes for business.

I just received my Xperia mini and I'd like to change the keyboard to "landscape keyboard". The user manual says that I have to change the settings to auto rotate for the keypad to function in landscape. I've done this but I still don't have it.

I just updated my x10 yesterday and realized that my android only suggests proper names that appear in my contact list or in the Android database. I've started to add the words I type one by one... but I don't plan in adding the whole dictionary..

Well looks like the Xperia x10 supprots a T9 keyboard like a normal mobile phone except Sony ericson has decided to hide it. What you do is say go to start text message select the input box hold finger down on it and it will say imput method. Select chinese keyboard. When you got to type hold the EN button with the tool on it it will come up with menu. Select both portrait keyboard and Landscape keyboard and select 12 Key Phonepad. And whalla you have T9 keyboard on your phone.

Alot of people seem to have continuous problems installing the HTC keyboard, so last week rosered asked me to write a fool-proof step-by-step guide for those users. So after getting back from my short vacation I decided to write a step-by-step guide which also includes screenshots to make it easier for you First of all I will explain how to install the original HTC keybaord, then I will tell you where to customize your own HTC keyboard for those of you that prefer it customized How to install the HTC keybaord on your Xperia X10Before you start, make sure your phone is set to allow apps from unknown sources. To enable this, go to Settings > Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is checked 1. Download the HTC Keyboard here2. Open the zip archive and copy the files to your desktopAT&T users will not be able to install this keyboard using steps 3-8 as they cannot side load apps. If you are an AT&T user, scroll down to see the instructions at the bottom of this guide explaining how to install the HTC keyboard. When you have done that, go to step 9 3. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB cable, drag down the notification bar on your Xperia and tap "USB COnnected" then tap "Mount". Alternatively, some people prefer to slide the SD card into a Memory Card slot on your computer4. Copy the HTC Keyboard files from your desktop, into a directory on your phone that you will remember (in my example I will use the 'downloads' directory5. Disconnect your phone from the usb cable (or put the SD card back into your phone if you used a memory card.

I have no idea about technical parts of the phones, i was just wondering - can you download an app which changes the keyboard?
Sorry if its a stupid question but like i said - no idea about how phones actually work.

What keyboards are you X10 users typing on?
My gf got herself an X10 recently and compared to my desire the keyboard is, well, it's not really as good.
I've briefly seen mention of some using a downloaded HTC keyboard but I can't see this in the market. Is there one readily available or are there any other better ones out there?

When I was using my x10 when it was only 1.6, when you typed a letter using the android keyboard, it would give multiple word suggestions (ie. i - is, it, in, etc.) which helped a lot. But with 2.1, if I turn it's word suggestions, it only provides me with proper names or contact names. Any way to allow 2.1 to use word suggestions other than these proper/contact names? I don't like the default keyboard. Can no one help? I don't think I'm the only one with this problem.

Not many reactions as yet, to the update. So far I am more or less satisfied. However, I cant seem to get the Norwegian keyboard. My only options are Japan, Corea, China and standard keyboard. Thus all my writing is spell-checked also in Danish. Why? And why are apps priced in swedish currency, and not in nok (norwegian currency)? I am in Norway, not in sweden. Phone is bought in Norway, and has never been used in either Sweden or Denmark.

so hopefully this question/problem isn't as simple/dumb as my previous.I've somehow messed up my keyboard settings or language. the bottom right and bottom left buttons now have some Chinese/Japanese text on them and the bottom left button turns on some alternative keyboard options and changes my text output to Japanese. Now I presumed this was simply something in my language settings but I've set them back to UK and still no joy.I'm also using Handcent sms and the Handcent keyboard ui but that's not displaying either. Tried un-install/reinstall but no luck.

While I -am- enjoying it to a degree, I am getting bloody tired of needing an apostrophe, clicking the "12#" button, and having it put an automatic SPACE as soon as I push it, which requires me to backspace, then add apostrophe, then back out to the letters. I'm a gal who can type pretty damn fast, even on a phone, so this is really ticking me off since I'll look up several lines later and see a catastrophe of misplaced spaces in my words before apostrophe. How do I make it stop this entirely frustrating behavior?

The screen on the X10 mini pro is pretty small, but why make it even smaller when texting by taking up the bottom portion of the screen with the language of the keyboard? I do not envisage myself ever needing to change the keyboard language, well except for when I have changed it by mistake, by accidently hitting the language bar that shouldnt be there?

I remember seeing somewhere in the x10 section a post regarding instructions to install a better keyboard on our x10's. I am enjoying swype, but would also like to have a "regular" keyboard that works better than the preinstalled ones. Can anyone direct me to the thread, or a site with instructions? Does the phone need to be rooted?

Suddenly I got Chinese keyboard when typing email. managed to get it in english. Standard keyboard is set (and reset) as Swedish, but still the Chinese keyboard pops up (but in english). Haven't done anything special, more than activated Spotify the last days. So it looks like despite I have Swedish keyboard as standard, the phone suddenly choose chinese keyboard anyway. How can I make settings so the X10 choose standard keyboard as input?

Has anyone else found that their keyboard is now in (what appears to be) Korean and English. I have been told to rest back to factor settings by my provider but am really reluctant to do so in case, even if I back-up, I lose all my info. Anyone got any suggestions?
