The problem is that, the MMS is disabled during being in roaming and having data switched off. Is there a way to make MMS messages working while the Internet data is switched off ?

I am running android 4.0 on a huawei ascend g600.
Sometimes I switch data off for a few hours so I don't waste data. I do this by "disabling" The data switch. When it cpmes time to switch it back on, the mobile data doesnt reconnect until i restart the phone
I have enabled "always on mobile data"
Anything else i need to do?
so i was installing the thirdwave rom and while i was restoring my backups (MyBackup) i may have restored some sort of system files, however even after doing a nandroid restore, i still can't make calls, but i have a data connection.
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy application is not a service, it's a normal application, with some windows and some stuff. i dont wanna make it a service cos is too munch complicated and i prefeer to avoid it then, if my application is not a service, when it goes to background (home key pressed for example), it continues working (sending/getting data from internet)? i ask this because i read this on a developer guide tutorial: "Because an Activity can perform actions only while it is active and in focus, you should create your status bar notifications from a Service"
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Hero uses about 1 Mb per day, while no applications seem to require data. Automatically popping mail has been disabled, and also other data consuming apps aren't running. I switched off cell (3G) so it consumes the data via WiFi. If I switch on 3G, it would also consume via 3G. So, by not using any apps, the Hero seems to consume 1 Mb per day. How come?

View 9 Replies View RelatedIt seems that one of the biggest drains on the battery is apps synchronizing constantly but I'm still confused as to how to set the phone up with this in mind! Should Background data be switched off?! What's the difference between Background data and Auto-sync in settings? Which should be on, or should both be off?
I guess what I'm ideally looking for is one button I can press on my Homescreen which will sync everything when I want it to, say a couple of times a day. I'm thinking gmail, news and sports updates, weather, that sort of thing.
Or am I being too fussy? It seems a shame to have such a clever phone but have to have everything switched off because of the battery. I'm tempted to have everything switched on constantly and just charge it all night every night, have it on charge at work and carry a charger in the car just in case. Does anyone else do this?
If people more knowledgeable than me about this (not difficult ) could post how they have their phones set up this would be extremely useful to me and I'm sure lots of other peeps!
I'm in danger of becoming obsessed with this - phone has only been on for 2 hours after an all night charge, I've done practically nothing with it and the battery indicator in the notification bar has already run down slightly!
I have never rooted or done anything like this before. I decided to root my tmobile htc sensation 4g. I used revolutionary? then installed clockwork recovery and in reboot at that point my data connection won't work. It will still make phone calls and texts and I can still connect with wifi but my 4g or 2g won't work. I still proceeded with installing the superuser file it said to and still nothing. It is definitely rooted. I have rebooted, battery pulled, and tried turning in and off the mobile network connection setting. I have not installed any roms etc I'm afraid to mess with it until I know what to do. eally about to have an anxiety attack. Everything else is working fine. I don't understand why just that works mess the data connection up. What can I do (of course I'd like to keep it rooted if possible).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 android devices (xperia s, htc one x and a galaxy s3) connected to a wifi network. This is kind of a protected network and there is a firewall involved. Also the devices are getting IP via DHCP. The problem is that i am able to access web site via browser but when i try from the application, its showing i don't have internet connection. There is no proxy configured in this network. There is an IP filtering in the router which filters the IPs starting with a particular series. But the web site and the application which i am trying to use are supposed to use this IP series.

Is it possible that i can compress the data usage with an app so that it takes longer for me to use 500MB.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 XXLPQ.It's rooted and now has CM9 installed.Unfortunately for some bizarre reason I have no internet connection. I've installed a different modem and it hasn't fixed the issue. APN settings are correct (I've spoken to my network). Sometimes it works absolutely fine then after a few moments it just won't load anything and I get a 'No internet connection' warning. Apps won't work either due to no connection. However I do have a 'H' and sometimes '3G' next to the signal bars. WiFi is working fine. Have full signal.. I've started from scratch and wiped everything several times and re-flashed xxLPQ but still nothing.

Apps like life360 location tracking apps, remote control apps like androidlost, which uses push messages and also polling services works intermittently. Sometimes it works on 2g internet and sometimes it does not. But on wifi, there's no problem at all.
But strangely messaging apps like viber works continuously on 2g or wifi without any problems.
Once upon a time I used another website to customize my new Ascend. Long story very short, I messed it up. I am pretty sure I deleted some stock stuff, and since my computer that had all of the backups on it has died, I have no way of getting it back.
I've tried flashing back to stock, I've tried flashing to different roms, I've tried doing a factory reset, I've even tried loading the stock zipped rom from the sd card. Of all the methods that I tried, the only one that doesn't hang on the android screen is flashing a new rom - so I'm using CM7 for now. Everything else kills the phone, it never boots past the android screen.
I just went thru the gauntlet again, trying to "fix" my phone, but nothing worked except flashing CM7. My camera hasn't worked since I started messing with this phone when I first got it. Now, all of a sudden, my internet is having issues.
I have tried downloading the camera.apk, but it doesn't seem to do anything - is there something I'm supposed to do other than stick the apk file in the sd card root?. I still can't use the bar code scanner, or a shopping list scanner thingy - everything says the camera had an unexpected error and/or the device failed to give access to the camera.
Going to RoM Manager, trying to download a different RoM (I have paid for the premium) and I get the you must have CWM installed message. Okay, I wiped everything, that makes sense. Click the install and either nothing happens or I get the message can't get an internet signal. The browser will connect, if I click retry, retry, retry 20 times.
I really dont know if I can justify the cost of a new phone, seeing as I dont really need it - I just want it. Need fixing the signal and camera on this one? FYI, the 3g icon on the status bar shows connected.
I am using LG optimus 690 and today I tried to install BusyBox several times but whenever I install busy box my internet stops working using wifi and data connection and to recover that I need to flash my phone
Any way by which I can make my internet working after installing BusyBox. Let me explain what I did.
1. I put the BusyBox PRO apk in /system/app and restarted my Phone and after restarting I opened the BusyBox and install all the binaries and after that all commands started working fine in terminal emulator only thing that didn't worked my internet.
Flashed my phone using stock rom
2. After installing fresh ROM this time I installed BusyBox normally and after installation I updated all the binaries again and everything started working well but yet again my internet stopped working.
What should I do to make my internet connection work after installing BusyBox.
I have a problem with the mobile connection on my phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9505) with CM10.1.
The mobile connection only works for a couple of minutes when i reboot the phone. After that time, it says "Offline" or "No network connection". I can still do phone calls though, so the connection to the celltower is still established.
APN settings are correct.
Data enabled is ticked
Data roaming is ticked (I need this, because my provider is using the mobile network of another provider)
Turning aeroplane mode on/off will not solve it.
Re-enabling data/-roaming will not solve it.
Switching to 2G mode will not solve it.
Not for security, just to stop mobile data internet from reaching some apps. I need to set it by multiple configuration too.

The last action I did before it worked was to uninstall the 'microsoft outlook app'.

In my home country my SIM card is able to access data on all 3 phones with no problem.
However, when I go abroad and use data roaming, only the iPhone is able connect, both android phones are unable to connect at all.
I checked the APN settings and all seem to be correct.
After recently re-flshing my device, the 3g/mobile data no longer works.
The mobile network works and im able to make calls, but the data doesnt (all switched on).
Phone is THL W8S running latest v1.0.6 firmware.
I was sitting in a van/car when my phone fell out of my pants and onto the pavement. It was about a 3 feet fall. At first my phone seemed to be ok. There wasn't any scratches or cracks because it landed flat the screen facing up. But maybe about an hour later a small part of the screen was beginning to become dark. This dark area continued to get bigger after a couple of hours and by the end of the day the screen was completely "blacked out".
And silly me was too ocuppied playing with a guitar I had just bought instead of thinking about backing up or copying my important data from my phone, like pictures and notes etc. So later when I plugged my phone into my computer, I found out that I couldn't access the phones files like I would do on Hardisk taken from i.e. a laptop. When I go to Computer on Windows and look for my phone which is appearing as GT-I9100 as a camera and when I click on it says folder is empty. So I realized that I might not be able to get my data from my phone in case I get a new phone from the dealer.
I'm not very familiar with Android devices but I'm wondering if it's because I have a screen lock password that I can't get to the data on my phone?
PS - I'm thinking this is one those classic examples of, "You should have backed up everything on your phone everyday" scenario. Luckly I have most the pictures on my phone transferred to my computer already.
I'm a SGS2 owner on T-Mobile and a university student. Yesterday morning my phone anomylously deregistered itself from my network, displaying the error message "Not registered on network" whenever I attmpted to make a call.
I phoned Samsung and T-Mobile and resolved the issue by a 'Network Refresh' and manually registering the phone to T-Mobile. I registered manually and had the phone working hours before I got the text from my NSP telling me that I had recieved a network refresh. About which time I noticed that my 3G was not connecting, and has yet to establish a connection today.

My Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562 is having many problems. First of all it is taking a lot more time to charge the battery and it gets very Hot while charging.
Wifi is also Disabled. I am not able to turn the Wifi on. And Phone is getting switched off Automatically. It won't even turn on until and unless I remove battery and insert it back. Tried to do Factory reset but no dice.
