Nov 5, 2012I own a Galaxy Note and got a MHL cable for watching movies on my Sony Bravia.
I'm having some problems for playing it nicelly.
With hardware decoding:
Only the stock samsung "Video Player" is able to play at TV resolution with the subtitles. The problem is that it seems to have an annoying bug that makes the subtitles stuck. After someone ends talking, the last sub don't vanish/disappear, it keeps there on the screen until the next speech. It's discussed at another older thread but no one was able to provide solution at that time.
With Software decoding:
I can get the subs with a third party player (like MX Player), but it doesn't stream the video to the TV directly, like the stock video player does. What I get is a rescaled screen, like when not playing a video, just browsing Android, and as such, not only it's not playing 720p/1080p video, but also, I get black areas because the phone aspect ratio doesn't match the TV aspect ratio.
As can be seen in the mentioned thread, there was a "stuck subtitle" problem with another Samsung device. Is this a bug with all Samsung devices?
Is there an alternative player that can play videos with hardware decoding and also display subtitles? So it can take all my TV screen.

General :: Streaming 1080p Over WiFi

Device 2) iPad 3, Dual Core A9, PowerVR 4 core
Networking: Dual band router (situated 1 metre away), gigabit server plugged into gigabit switch
(I can stream 1080p on my PC and Macbook Pro fine (due to stronger CPU's vs ARM design?))
Both mobile devices can stream 720p fine
I get issues when trying to stream 1080p. Obviously the Galaxy S3 only has a 720p screen anyway, but I still wanted to see if it was possible
I have tried multiple programs on both devices. At 1080p, the iPad can only stream the audio. No picture. The Galaxy S3 is able to stream both audio and video, although the video is choppy
What is the bottleneck here? Is it due to poor software? Or are the ARM A9 CPU's too weak for this kind of thing? I know they can play local 1080p content perfectly fine, but there seems to be issues with network content.

Apr 9, 2014I often view my movies and animes on my Nexus 5.. But sometimes , when I try to play those videos on my ipod 4g or HTC desire C .. The wont play smoothly.. I do know it has something to do with hardware limitations on low end devices.. but I think its pretty unfair for these devices to not play atleast an SD 480p stream smoothly! I have seen this feature in the MX player called "Enable Hardware acceleration.."
I don't know what it does , but selecting that option on my HTC desire C makes the videos a bit smoother but still the 480p videos wont play properly. I tried reducing/increasing bitrates and codecs too (mostly H.264/XviD). But still no improvement.I have my phone rooted too.So is there any way to make 480p videos work on desire C and similar devices? I would be really interested to work on it like a project which may target an app or some tweaks with the hardware itself?

Aug 11, 2013so I got this phone, mediatek MT6589 1,2ghz with 1080x1920 resolution display, GPU powerVR SGX544 (those are what it says on the spec)
when playing 2D games, there are no lags, stutterings, i got smooth animations and responsive controls.
but when trying to play 3D based games, i only got like 5-10 fps, even for low end games like asphalt 6, riptide 1, minion rush, etc.
some 3D games have the option to lower textures, effects, shaders, but some don't.What I'm trying to ask is :
- Can we tweak, modify build.prop to trick those games (that do not have quality settings in options) to load low quality graphics? If we can, which line?
- I tried to install "resolution changer lite" from the playstore, looks like when I change resolution to 1024x600, every games run smooth without lag. But this resolution changing really messed up my homescreen, icons, menus, even hardware buttons don't work.
FYI: for reference this device's antutu score is 12000+, 2d score= 600, 3d score = 2100

Sep 6, 2013I downloaded Eternity Warriors 2, started playing, then when I decided to play online, I can't play PVP because my device is rooted. I've tried a bunch of apps that hide root, or temporarily unroot, and this game somehow can still see it. All I can find online is Glu Mobile is doing this cuz they think a rooted device is capable of hacking their game.....even though it's server sided. Any way to bypass this, or hide my root from this game?

Oct 31, 2012I have a rooted Samsung s6102 and I unistalled the google play store using linktosd thinking I can reinstall it on memory Card, but then I downloaded it and tried to install it. it installed but on opening it errors "force Close" I have tried many versions of it and it still doesnt work comes up with error "Force Clsose" I think it has to be installed in system. I don't know how to do this. In the meantime I have reset factory settings but still no sign of google play. I'm afraid link2sd must have deleted the relevant files. Jan 3, 2013I am new to android and i just bought the Huawei Honor II U9508 2gb ram with android 4.1.2 and with huawei's Emotion UI 1.5.
The problem is that Google play store didnt come with the phone and i have tried installing it with 4share but everytime i get an error that says u "Unfortunately, Google Play has Stopped" I have tried many things like deleting chache and deleting email. Do i have to Root to get it to work?
Another thing is that i really like to have my phone rooted.. as i said has android 4.1.2 and huawei's Emotion UI 1.5 (2gb ram).
Also i really like to get rid of the Chinese in for example browser (have it set on english but still alot of Chinese) and Youtube didnt work in browser at all. In the commericals i see Voice Assistant in english but i have it in Chinese (any way to change it).

Dec 9, 2013I own HTC Desire (Bravo). I rooted my phone year ago or so, tried different ROMs etc. I dont remember when exactly, but my Google play store is loading pages really slow. I am not in US, I doubt its carrier based issue..
Currently I'm using CM..I think its 8 or 9, not sure of the version because recently my ROM manager app stopped working. (Will try to reinstall it when I get calm enough to open Google Play Store again )
On the startup it says CM 7 (mod) but I think it does so for all versions. I flashed CM using clockwork mod.
To solve issue I've tried clearing cash/data but it didn't work . Btw I use wi-fi mostly, but issue is the same whether I use mine or some other wi-fi.
