View 3 RepliesI just deleted the gallery application that comes with the phone (i dont know what i did it... ), and now i cant change the lock screen background.
When i try to do it from the configuration panel, it says "La application configuracion (proceso com.android.settings) se ha deterino inesperadamente"
Where can i download the original gallery installer?
I use Google Play Music. Over time, I've chosen certain albums to store locally ('pin') from music.google.com on my Android 2.4 phone. Now I wish to clear these out from the phone in the name of space and begin anew.
Without an apparent way to do this on the phone (?), I connected the device to a computer and wiped out the Android music directory's files manually.
Then, when I returned to my phone's Play Music app and attempted to choose new music to pin to the device, Android is re-downloading *all* of the music I had previously chosen to store locally, completely defeating the purpose of this pursuit.
Is there a way to start fresh on the phone without deleting music from URL....? I simply want to download a select few albums to a device from my Play Music account, not everything I have ever selected to pin since my history with the service.
I do a lot of texting and have noticed that my battery gets hammered when using the sms app and realized that it is black text on white background, which is clearly eating away at my battery. Is there any way of changing the background and text colour?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm on JellyBlast 3 (Gingerbread, I guess) with my Galaxy Y and I'm a little unhappy with the theme that comes with JellyBlast. I have fixed some issues but I cannot figure out how to avoid black text on dark background in Alert Dialogs. This issue makes some dialogs of the hololauncher and some other apps completely ureadable if you do not turn the screen to full brightness (what I normally don't do).
What I've found out so far: In the Gingerbread source the Theme for the the Alert Dialog is hard coded:
Code:
protected AlertDialog(Context context) {
this(context, com.android.internal.R.style.Theme_Dialog_Alert);
}
I'm not yet allowed to post external links... I found the above on github in the gingerbread branch in platform_frameworks_base -> core -> java -> android -> app -> AlertDialog.java
The hololauncher uses the AlertDialog.Builder class to create the Dialogs and it uses a TextView Widget to display the text. The layout looks like this:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<TextView android:textAppearance="?android:textAppearanceLargeInverse" android:gravity="center_vertical" android:paddingLeft="15.0dip" android:paddingRight="15.0dip" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:minHeight="?android:listPreferredItemHeight" android:drawablePadding="14.0dip" />
Here you see, that the textAppearanceLargeInverse definition of the theme is used as text color. And the theme should always be "Theme.Dialog.Alert" since this is hardcoded.
I assume that com.android.internal.R.style.Theme_Dialog_Alert refers to the Theme.Dialog.Alert styledefinition in the ROMs framework-res.apk. So I added the following line to the styles.xml in framework-res.apk -> values/styles.xml inside Theme.Dialog.Alert:
Code:
<item name="textAppearanceLargeInverse">@style/TextAppearance.Large</item>
I hoped that this would overwrite the definition of textAppearanceLargeInverse for the AlertDialog so that I will not use the inherited definition of the dark theme. The color that's referenced by @style/TextAppearance.Large is (contrary to ...Large.Inverse) is #FFFFFFFF or at least close to it.
Unfortunately this does not work and I do not understand why. I got that far to figure all this stuff out and my phone seems little impressed by my effort. It still displays dark text on dark background.
I have a i897 (captivate) and was wondering, if i am on stock ROM, 2.3.5, do i also have GB boot loaders or will i have to install them. if it turns out i have to install them, looking for tar file for GB boot loaders so i can flash it with Odin.

But what is the easiest and safest way to do it ?
I'm a proud user of a Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman and it's currently running on Hybrom v17 and Rage Kernel, but it's still signed as Android 2.3.4. I searched on the internet and it seems that people from my country, with the same phone model and operator are getting the official update... But I still don't have it in my PC Companion... Do I have to return to the stock version of Gingerbread to get the update? If so, do I have to change the kernel back to stock too?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI love CM7. I run it on my Droid Incredible and I wouldn't want to run any other ROM, but since I have the paid versions of both ADW and Launcher Pro I don't have any need for the free version of ADW that comes packed with CM7. I found a mod that replaces ADW with the default Gingerbread launcher, and I've found that I prefer the stock launcher over any of the replacements I've tried. It's fast, minimal, and it just works. My only problem is that launcher2 only has five home screens, and I want seven. A Google search brought me to a version of the stock launcher with seven home screens, and I was able to install it on the latest CM7 nightly, but whenever I pressed the phone icon I got an error message telling me that "this application is not installed on your phone". I tried the launcher on both OMGB and OMFGB with the same results. Is there a version of the stock Gingerbread launcher out there that I can use on CM7 that has seven home screens and a working phone shortcut?

I am on android gingerbread 2.3.6 in samsung galaxy y duos (rooted).
I'm compiling my own ROM project from source, and I wonder if I can remove the home "icon" on the app drawer for the stock gingerbread launcher2.apk? From source that is.
For example the latest LauncherPro have the option for removing/hiding the home icon on the app drawer, I pretty much want to do the same basically on the default Gingerbread Launcher.
I am using gingerbread 2.3.6 am board with my caller id so I want to change my caller id i tried FSCI and BIG! caller id both is not working when i try to attend the call but it show all the template which i have configured when i go to the green button it shows ur device forced to use system caller id and it comes back to that board caller id.... is there any way to change with working?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSince accepting the Gingerbread update, I have noticed that the Recent Calls feature of the Dialer now only shows timestamps in reference to the current time rather than the time the call occurred. Calls now show timestamps in the format of 1 hour ago or yesterday rather than displaying the actual time of the call.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wish to change the 2 shortcuts at the bottom of Gingerbread default home screen (Phone, Browser) to something else (Messages, Gmail). But I couldn't find a way to change those icons either by press and hold on the shortcut, or by dragging icons from the Apps screen.
What's the best way to change them without using 3rd party launchers?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just don't like using stock launcher or whatever you wanna call it, I've come accustomed to using third party launchers..if i'm using Apex or something.. does the stock launcher continue to run in the background and drain more battery then if I were to just use stock? Is there anyway to disable something if my phone is rooted so I can continue to use Apex but stop the default launcher from running as well? Or does android not work like that and if I have apex it cancels out the default launcher?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a music fan and I'd like to listen to it on my phone as well. I have an HTC One XL with the latest Viper ROM.
I have tried the following options.
1. Downloaded numerous apps (PVStar, NextVid and the likes). Some worked but not to my satisfaction. They're either very laggy or buggy or have unattractive UI to use.
2. Visited sites like youtify.com and tried on various browsers. (Chrome, firefox, UC, Dolphin, Opera etc.) hoping it won't stop playing audio when switched to another app or screen locked. On chrome and all the others it just stops playing audio when you switch to another app. On firefox it works but when screen is locked, audio becomes choppy (app's priority gets lower I think slowly). I tried to search for apps which can keep an app's priority higher but in no vain.
3. I also tried to find alternatives to Youtube like grooveshark app but it just keeps crashing whenever other apps are launched. I also tried Radio apps like TuneIn radio or pandora but you can't search for specific songs there.
Also some YouTube videos are specifically blocked by Google itself to not stream it to other apps/sites I think. How can we avoid this?
So, basically my problem is I need to be able to search and stream Youtube videos (Preferably have my own saved playlists) on my android phone while the screen is locked or in background while accessing other apps. (I know google is trying to bring 'play in background' feature to YouTube app itself but we can't create playlists there if I'm not wrong).
i've updated to the last Google play music, but now even if i don't use it i've a background service of this app .. is there a way to avoid this background service when not using it ? Even if i didn't launch it of the whole day i have this service ..

When playing music with the stock Music Player application on my phone and turning the phone screen off or multitasking, the music is still able to play in the background. Is it possible to do the same with the stock YouTube app? I want to let the audio of the YouTube video I am watching to keep playing when I either exit out of the app or when I press the power button on my phone to turn off the screen to save battery. Although I can just set my phone screen to not go off when idle for a certain amount of time, but then again, that is battery consuming.
