Android :: Modify Default Button State Without Affecting Pressed And Selected States?

Oct 4, 2010

I am trying to remove an ImageButton's background in only the default state. I'd like the pressed and selected states to behave as usual so that they look correct on different devices, which use different colors for the pressed and selected states.

Is there any way to set an ImageButton's background default state's drawable without affecting the pressed and selected states?

I've tried to do this with a selector, but it does not appear to allow you to use the default drawables for some states - you have to set all the states yourself. Since there's no API to retrieve the device's default pressed/selected drawables, I don't know what to set the pressed/selected states to.

I also tried getting the StateListDrawable object for the button that the system creates when you are not using a selector and then modify it change the default state. That didn't work either.

I seems that on Android, if you want to change the drawable for one state of a button, then you must set all the states, and thus cannot preserve the default drawables for the other states. Is this correct?

Android :: Selected Tab Background Colors Change In 2.1 ?

Jul 24, 2010

My app was built on the Android 1.5 platform. I'm in the process of bumping the APIs used to 2.1 . I am still leaving minSdkVersion=3 / targetSdkVersion = 7 in order to support older platforms.

I've made the required drawbles-hdpi / -mdpi - ldpi-v4 folders. Everything is looking great across various AVDs of HVGA/WVGA shapes and sizes.

Everything, except my tabs.

In AVDs running Android 1.5 and 1.6, my tab background colors are appropriate: http://www.shelvesforandroid.com/1p6below.png

However, for platforms running 2.1 and above, something seems to have gone awry:
[url]

Notice that the unselected tab color is correct, but the selected tab looks like it's just bleeding the same color as my images.

What can I do to fix this? Enforce the background color to be the same as 1.6-era ?

What is causing this tab color change?

Ive got a input tag in an HTML page in an Android WebView. I want the background to be transparent. It is (via background-color: transparent) UNTIL the user selects it (gives it focus, to input data). Then the background is white.

I've tried background-color on textbox and textbox:focus and Ive tried -webkit-appearance: none. None of these worked.

Anyone messed with this?

Android :: Changing Background Color On Selected List View Item

Apr 17, 2009

Im trying to change background color when an item is selected. Something like using a color selector, but actually it crashes. I've created a list_selector.xml inside /res/color/.<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"><item android:state_focused="true" android:color ="@ color/ plain_yellow"/><item android:state_pressed="true" android:state_enabled="false" android:color ="@color /plain _yellow" /><item android:state_enabled="false" android:color="@color/ plain_yellow" /><item android: state_active="true" android:color="@color/ plain_yellow" /><item android:color="@android: color/ transparent" /></selector> plain_yellow is a color i've defined in /res/values. I've tried to assign that selector programatically and using the xml, but the app crashes. Am i doing something wrong?

Highlight Selected Item Background After Clicking Back Button

Apr 18, 2013

I have to develop one android application.

Here is the scenario:There are many images in a linearlayout. When selected, the layout should be displayed with another(gradient_bg_hover.xml) background. This works well now.

Now, I would like that when I open a new activity and come back to this one, the last selected layout should still be the highlighted one (with the (gradient_bg_hover.xml) background).

Now i have used below code for highlighting the image when pressed:

[HIGH]
LinearLayout ar = new LinearLayout(this);
ar.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
ar.setPadding(3, 3, 3, 3);
ar.setLayoutParams(artiLayoutParams);
ar.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER);
ar.setBackgroundColor(Color.parseColor("#666666")) ;

[Code]...

In OnClick function i have wrote the below code:

[HIGH]
private OnClickListener mArticleClick = new OnClickListener()
{
@Override
public void onClick ( View v )
{
int object = v.getId();
v.setSelected(true);

[Code]...

Here i have to clicked one item means it is go to next activity.afterthat i have clicked back button means the selected item is stay on highlighted with another background.afterthat i have selected another item means its go to next activity.now i have to click back button means these item only highlight with background....but the pervious item also highlighted....

I wish to need the o/p like :

The last selected item only highlighted after click the back button...

So i have used sharedpreferences :

I have declared int prevPosition = -1; globally...

[HIGH]
ar = new LinearLayout(this);
ar.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
ar.setPadding(3, 3, 3, 3);
ar.setLayoutParams(artiLayoutParams);
ar.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER);

[Code]...

In Onclick method:

[HIGH]
private OnClickListener mArticleClick = new OnClickListener()
{
@Override
public void onClick ( View v )
{
int object = v.getId();

[Code]...

But my background color is not staying after press the back button...

Android :: Identifying Id Of Listitem For Context Menu

May 6, 2010

I have a View that extends Activity. A ListView will display a number of listitems. When the user long clicks I would like to present them with a contextmenu allowing them to select edit, delete etc. and then identify the listitem that was selected as the item to perform the action on.
In onCreate I have:
listView.setAdapter(adapter);
listView.setOnItemClickListener(onListClick);
listView.setOnItemLongClickListener(onListLongClick);
registerForContextMenu(listView);
I have a method onCreateContextMenu
@Override
public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v,
ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) {
super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, menuInfo);
menu.setHeaderTitle("Context Menu");
menu.add(0, v.getId(), 0, "Edit");
menu.add(0, v.getId(), 0, "Delete");
and also onContextItemSelected
@Override
public boolean onContextItemSelected(MenuItem item) {
if (item.getTitle() == "Edit") {
// edit action
} else if (item.getTitle() == "Delete") {
// delete action
} else {
return false;
return true;
}I am not sure where to go from here to get the correct row/listitem.

Android :: Use Webview As A ListItem And Have Smooth Scrolling?

Feb 15, 2009

I am showing a RSS feed in my application using Webview as ListItem and it works great except that it is very sluggish at times. Since I don't know the size of the content then I can't set the height of each Webview and therefore I have the following code (this is the code for a single ListItem)...

But the "wrap_content" causes the Webview to readjust size when scrolling. The scrollbar-indicator of the listview also has problems knowing the size of the complete list so it changes size when scrolling. All this causes a very "jerky" experience when scrolling.

Is there any better way of doing this?

Android :: XML - DOM - Modify - String

Jun 29, 2010

I am coding an Android client that talks to some web services via XML packets.
A typical packet looks like this..

<Packet service="login">
<username></username>
<password></password>
</Packet>

I have about 20 of these packets and would like to store them in my resources maybe in res/xml or res/raw

I want to store these 'empty' packets and load them using XML DOM and then fill in the content between the tags or attributes but am unsure how to do this.

Once the DOM packet has been filled in I want to get that back as a String so that I can send the packet to the server.

So to summarize my questions are..

(1) How do I load an XML resource using DOM?

(2) How do I convert the DOM object to a String?

Do I have to use Services instead of Activities? But afaik I have to give a reference of an activity to spawn dialogs.
