View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I'm not quite ready to root yet but wanted to do some more custimization to my phone. I read in another forum about being able to change the boot animation without root. It worked so after reading about some of you all that don't like the sprint 4g boot animation I figured I'd share.
First, you need to install android SDK. Bill did a good guide to installing it: http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/90418-how-install-android-sdk.html.
When I was installing the sdk I had a lot of trouble with installing the driver for the EVO for whatever reason. Eventually this is what worked for me:
dc50 Hideaway: ADB Driver for HTC Evo 4G
Once you get SDK installed find a new boot animation. There are a few here: [url]
The boot animation should be a zip file named "bootanimation". Put this file in the tools folder of the sdk.
Open up command prompt (Start>Run>type "cmd"). In command prompt you need to get to the sdk tools folder. To do this I typed in "cd C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktopandroid-sdk-windows ools" where "User"=you user name. This may be different depending on your version of windows and where you unpacked sdk.
Now from here you can check to make sure your device is connected by typing in "adb devices". If you get a line that says "List of Devices Attached" and then a line with some numbers and letters followed by "device" you are conneceted. If not go back a try reinstalling Android SDK.
Now with the bootanimation.zip file in the tools folder and command prompt pointing to the tools folder type "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local". Make sure you put the spaces in or it won't work.
Restart your phone and you should see the new boot animation instead of the Sprint 4G one.
I'm fading out an imageview with alpha animation. I'd like the image to stay transparent after the animation. Tried with different combinations of fillAfter and fillEnabled, no luck. How can this be achieved?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a strange issue - from time to time the animation that should fade out my control (ImageButton) does not kick in immediately. I am using the fadeout animation to hide it and then in myListener on its end (onAnimationEnd) I put new resource as the image on the button.
Somewhere in my app code:
Animation a = AnimationUtils.loadAnimation(this,R.anim.fadeout); a.setAnimationListener(new myListener(location)); buttons[location].setAnimation(a); a.startNow(); // regardless if its start() or startnNow() it will work in most of the cases but not 100% reliable I actually can see in debug Log when its late, happens after few more clicks
Then in myListener.onAnimationEnd(Animation a):buttons[location].setImageResource(R.drawable.standard_button);
Seems there is a rule that the every 4th or 5th animation does not start ...
Is it possible in Android to get a callback when a Frame Animation (AnimationDrawable) has completed playing its frame sequence? I know when a Tween Animation has completed, it calls onAnimationEnd(), but is there something similar for frame by frame animations?

It's analogous to the minimize maximize in windows that you can turnoff by setting "minanimation" to zero in windows registry.
I made this animation. Everything seems to be okay, but when I boot my phone with it, I just get the default Android boot animation like I normally do when I don't have a boot animation. I didn't compress it or anything.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi just got a new phone (my first android), ive been trying to change my boot animation and cant seem to get it to work,i replaced the file which was named bootanimation_virigin.zip (also didnt think of renaming the original, so the original is gone), i even replaced the stock one which was named bootanimation.zip (also didnt rename it or back it up... -__-;; ) i made sure the files are correct and match up with the desc.txt file. i copied the original boot animation zip to my computer and just replaced everything, same number of files, about the same file size, same file type, same size and just put the folders "part0", "part1" and the desc.txt files back on my sd card and moved it to system/media/bootanimation_virigin, i compressed the files into a zip using root browser from the rom toolbox, i made sure that the compression was set to none, and then moved the zip file to system/media, i set the permisions to rw-r--r-- which is the exact same as the other boot animations. nothing shows up anymore till the phone is done booting but ill admit that it is definitely better than the stock virgin mobile animation...
here is everything i have for this boot animation (including: original virgin mobile boot animation, a video of the boot animation, all the pictures, and a folder titled "bootanimation_virign" which is the folder i moved into system/media)

i thought it was something on my phone but it was the way after effects renders jpeg sequences, i think it has something to do with the attributes of the jpeg file but anyways i just used a program called boot animation creator and it worked perfectly
I am a budding developer in Android platform..while I have developed some small tools on Android, the project which I am on now demands a unique requirement.. I want to keep the phone running my application always on and must boot up automatically when a charger cable is plugged in. I know this question has been asked many times and there are many threads for this. But to no real answers..
I had managed to do the auto boot on power insert by editing a script called "battery-charging" in /system/bin in a version of Android I used earlier.
I managed to get the same effect in another device (a Samsung phone) by editing /system/bin/chargemon
Forum rule says I cannot post the external link ... this is how I did achieve what I wanted earlier...
Code:
echo "echo skipping chargemon" > chargemon.script
adb pull /system/bin/chargemon chargemon.backup
adb push chargemon.script /sqlite_stmt_journals
adb shell
$ cd /sqlite_stmt_journals
$ su
# mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system
# cat chargemon.script > /system/bin/chargemon
# chmod 755 /system/bin/chargemon
# reboot -p
'
But I have been handed over a phone running Android 2.2.1 where I could not find both "chargemon" or any file regarding battery charging status in the /system/bin or in any other path.
I just have to edit the script which executes the battery charging animation graphics when the phone is switched off but is powered up to allow the phone to reboot.
which file to edit to make the phone reboot instead of just showing battery being charged..
I was wondering if it is possible to add an animation to the drop down menu? I searched a bit for this and found a few guides but for different phone models so my other question is as long as its for android could I still follow those guides and get a result?
P.S I just about managed to work out how to root and then add a custom rom to my phone by following the instructions exactly. I have a Samsung Galaxy S 2 (GT-I9100)

Baseband version: I9100XXLPS
Kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100XXLPS-CL294511 se.infra@SEP-68 #3
Build number: Litening ROM v2.7

I found the [AIO]Universal Android Flasher, connected the phone via USB cable, started the program and clicked some buttons, which resulted in the message:

I'm working on a puzzle game for Android 2.2, what I want to do is a simple fade-in fade-out of the whole game screen, during level changing. I tried with an AlphaAnimation from 1.0f to 0.0f and vice-versa, and it works perfectly if I start it from a View, but if I try to start it from the SurfaceView which I used to write my game engine nothing happens.
I put a completely black ImageView on top of my surfaceview, and applied the animation to this imageView. This is my layout
Code:

<FrameLayout xmlns:android="<not allowed to post external links...>"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
