General :: Contact Search From Dial Screen?
Feb 25, 2013I have like 200 coworker contacts and i'd like to add name prefix so that all of them are in one place not spread aground contacts but after adding prefix search from dial screen will not find them! how come? for example created contact named XX JOHN DO SECOND where xx is prefix , john first name , do middle name , second is last name and from contacts menu all works fine but from dial screen search doesn't find it!

Apr 6, 2014I have just bought a Motorola Moto G and am waiting for a simm from free.fr to arrive. That's a week of waiting! I have been looking through the various bits on the phone and decided to put a password on it. I have done this on all of my previous, simple, phones with no problems, but now that I have done it on the MG all I can get is the phone dial screen. No pptions for any apps, settings, etc. Just the dial screen.
I have tried the factory reset using the power/volume buttons but when I get to the second selection, with the 'distressed android' showing I don't get any options with it, just the android.

General :: ODIN Won't Flash Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i
Jul 11, 2012I bought my Galaxy Ace S5830i last month. I hadn't installed Samsung Kies until yesterday, when I launched it it prompted a firmware upgrade. First I tried to use kies to upgrade but whenever the upgrade process started (Kies started downloading the firmware files) my device automatically got disconnected..I tried reinstalling kies, restarting my phone but nothing worked.
I then decided to use odin(v1.87) to flash the firmware on my device but it kept failing at first step itself. Here's what it said :-

The phone has been working as fine as ever. Kies never got to the step of INSTALLING the new firmware as whenever it started downloading the firmware files my phone got disconnected so no damage there.
With ODIN I entered download mode but here too it fails at the beginning, so I just switch off my phone and restart it and it works as if nothing ever happened (I've made several attempts)

but now my mobile is stuck in bootloop problem, .. i wiped cache/ factory reset through recovery mode, it's also didnt worked again it stuck in loop..after that i decided to install official firmware from XDA, i did that for about 3 hoours again no useat all, again it stucks in bootloop...i tried both single file installation( pda section only) and multi firmware installation(pda, ops, csc), but nothing works..It shows dat

The only problem is that when I make a call or receive a call the ALS_PS sensor I think turns the screen off and it will not come back on until the call ends.
I have searched for answers and have found that this is a common problem. One thread suggested that if you enter the boot menu with the volume and power key you can sellect an option to disable this feature. However the menu is in Chinese !!

This week my phone started behaving strange. I will get a call, but the caller ID no longer displays. Suddenly the screen starts to flash and I have to unlock the screen in order to see who is calling. By the time the screen is unlocked the person has already hung up. Oct 21, 2010I have been checking for recent threads about cronic issues of dial screen problems with mute/speaker activated accidentally. I just got my phone in last 2 months and am not technically advanced enough so fear rooting my phone...dealer said it will invalidate my warrantee. My phone is already 2.1, and this issue was SUPPOSED to be resolved . Are there any work arounds for the Moments crappy dial screen? I hate that I have to hit back button to disable buttons that I never use anyway. And when the screen is gone...it is a pain to bring back the dial screen if I need to use dial tones, since the keypad letters do not work on phone system prompts because they don't activate keytones. Is there any good (not buggy) work around dial screen applications for this other than rooting my phone?

I've looked around online and there doesn't seem to be anything that suits me well. I tried making the "direct dial" shortcuts by long-pressing, but those icons are small and have a little "M" and image of Android which obscures the photo icon. Dec 3, 2009My Galaxy doesnt lock the screen anymore after i dial any number from my contact list.
The steps to reproduce the problems are:
- Turn on the phone
- Unlock the screen
- Press "Call" button
- Select "Contacts" tab
- Select some contact and make a call
- Press "End" button (dont need to wait the call to complete)
- Press the "Lock" button
- At this point, the screens turns off, but the phone doesnt lock. If i press any key the screen turns on and the phone remains unlocked
From this point, the phone doesnt lock the screen anymore, even after the lock timeout.
To workaround this problem i need to restart the phone OR use a task manager to end the process "Dialer", so i presume the dialer application is preventing the screen to lock.
Actually im using GalaxyHero v1.1, but i had the same problem since i bought the phone with the original Android version. I upgraded to IH4, IH8, II5 and others, restored to factory defaults many times, but the problem persists with all versions.

Have car doc, Voice Command works from bluetooth, but need to activate when phone is in holster.
