When I place a direct dial picture on a home screen, it shows their face and a small phone icon. (Covering one corner of their face) What the heck? My other direct dials are not like that.

I've been looking for a widget that will allow me to direct dial (direct text a bonus!) from home screen. I've looked around online and there doesn't seem to be anything that suits me well. I tried making the "direct dial" shortcuts by long-pressing, but those icons are small and have a little "M" and image of Android which obscures the photo icon. I found the perfect app while searching for other stuff. I've attached the image to this post. Does anyone know what the app is that allows me to place those 2x1 icons onto the screen?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn ICS, when I make a shortcut with Direct Dial, it shows the label "Home" over the bottom-half of my contact's picture... 99% of my contacts only have one number anyway, so the "Home" title is useless & only blocks half their picture. Is there a way to remove this?

After I set the picture or whatever and crop it, I return to the home screen and the Colorful Bubble HTC Wallpaper always shows up instead, only the live wallpaper really works all the time. Anyone else have the same problem or know a solution?

I also like the way I can have trays appear and disappear as needed allowing a great deal of functionality on 1 screen---1 button opens an app tray with my media apps, another for my utility apps, another for a group of speed dials I need for work etc. etc.

How do i create a speed dial icon on my home screen that doesn't ask me to decide if i want to text or call? when I make a favorites list, it still give options. I just want one click and call like my original droid.

Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Call, choose from your contact list. For the Direct Text using Folder Organizer Lite again. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Text, choose from your contact list.

I am trying to add contacts on my desktop that I would like 1-touch access to but the only way to add a contact is using the shortcut to contact. Clicking on that opens up the contact details and then I have to click on the number I want to call and select call or message. Is there any way to add a particular number for a particular contact directly onto the home screen? I know that the MT3G used to have a shortcut to direct dial option. Is there anyway to get that on this phone

I have about 10 contacts that are Direct Dial (speed dial to the rest of the world). What I do is put them in a folder as a shortcut to prevent accidental dialing. But I have to constantly redo this set up. Is there a way to save a folder and it's contents, such as direct dial numbers, to my sd card and bring it back with each new ROM or launcher? Starred folder doesn't work for me as it's more clicking when I am driving. The app Direct Dial still takes several clicks.

But it takes too long to open up gallery and sort through all of my photos. If I could set it up as an icon on my home screen, or even the folder it is in as an icon so i could quickly pull it up, that would be perfect.

The guy at the desk backed up my pictures and contacts. After resetting it my Home Screen was still the same picture it had been before the reset. Which is fine, it's what I want. Now though, I can't find the picture itself on my phone or storage device. I've hooked my S4 up to the PC and tried to find it in a folder. I can't seem to locate it. Where would I find the picture at on my S4?

Just wanting to know because my wallpaper when upright (vertical position) does not look good when sideways (horizontal position). when sideway, because the differences in dimension of the screen, takes my wallpaper picture out of center so you cant see the entire picture.

Seven is really pointless for me, it makes finding the right screen take a little longer and there's just not enough good quality widgets that I need to use. I could do better with 5 and possibly just 3.Second is that when I'm not on a homescreen and I hit the home button, I'd like it to go back to the LAST homescreen I was on, not the center one. And if I'm already on a homescreen, once again pull up the homescreen select menu, instead of going to the center homescreen. It's a waste of a button press to always go to that center screen when pressing the home button.

I know this is possible because there is an application : TheftAware which does block all the buttons so they have no effect at all.
And I also would like to know how to make a dialog window or any kind of window which would stay on top no matter what (this is also done in theftaware).
They are also able to block(hide) the call screen... does someone know how are they doing that ?
Does all this means that android is not that secure after all ?
1)Can you zoom in while taking a pic with the optical pad?
2)can you take pics in portrait view?

4)is there a way to change the settings of like the touch screen and the optical pad?
Sorry if this sounds silly, but what are the benefits of using a launcher or home screen replacement (launcherpro, ADW, etc?) I mean, they look like they are copies of Sense UI, so I really do not see the benefit if you are on an HTC phone. I could definitely see if for other Android devices, but I am just confused as to what the benefit is.

Instead when I select them I am taken to a screen with uninstall and details as choices. Usually if I tap the widgets they are placed on a home screen where they can be launched.

When I click update it tries to acquire location but can't. I think I've tried everything to get it to locate my location. I've turned it on through google settings. I've turned on GPS on my phone. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.The phone still works great, but I'm worried that it might turn into something bigger.
