Since 12.12.13 there is a new update of google search in playstore.
If i install this update, the google experience launcher changes the grid size (now i have less icons) and some widgets disappear or are resized.
Is there a possibility to change the grid size of the experience launcher desktop with a hack?

I want one for use on a galaxy gear watch so that i can have the main screen set to 4x5 for the widget and then as the screen is so small i want the other screens to only have a 2x2 or 3x3 grid so the icons are big enough.
Launcher or mods that would allow me to independently change the grid size on my home screens? By this I mean I would like to make my main home screen 4 x 4 but make all the rest 5 x 4.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried numerous launchers and have found it difficult to find any launchers that allow you to go above 72x72 resolution for icons. The only one that would was Go Launcher EX and that simply scaled them up to a barely noticeable 82x82.
Is there a launcher which allows you to load icons that are say 100x100 and that does not scale them?
I created a google maps app. I have been using the debug md5 fingerprint to test my app as I built it. It worked fine. Now that I'm ready to publish, I'm having a problem with the nondebug md5 fingerprint I need to publish with. I'll go step by step with what I've done. I right click my app in eclipse, then go down to android tools > export signed application package. It pops up a window. I see my app name i hit next.
keystore selection> create new> C:AndroidAppMapKey> create passwords for it hit next.
Key creation> create my alias name.
Lets say mapalias> give it the same password as the keystore. Give it a validity of 1000> insert my name. hit next. destination and key/certificate check> C:AndroidAppMyGoogleMaps.apk > hit finished. After that i open up cmd, I'm on windows 7.
I type> keytool -list -v -alias mapalias -keystore C:AndroidAppMapKey -storepass mypass -keypass mypass. It generates the md5 code i need. I go to the website to register the md5 code. get the code i need to use on my android: apiKey="ofhsjfjfjmmmmmdnjjffmmf". Run it on the emulator and my phones. I get a grey screen with no map coming up.
I'm running 240dpi on my n4 and I'd like to know how I would be able to center my google now launcher? If I turn it to landscape mode and i touch between home and recent apps, it'll launch google now. Even without using the shortcut. I would like to know how I can align these apps. I'm compiling from source so no worries if I have to edit any .java files. And no, I dont want to run aokp or PNA or PAC.

EVERY single VIDEO the Google+ (Google Photos, whatever its called) app auto-uploads the resolution is changed to either 640x480 or 480x480.
I went to do a nandroid backup and it failed, "no space on my SD card".
Thats weird, as usually have at least 4 gig on my Nexus S 4g.
Poking around, it was the cache from Google plus,).[url].... That, coupled with my titanium backup of same ate my SDCARD. easy to fix Titanium from backup it up, but the cache is still several gigs large. 40,000 + files with [number].screen extensions.
I have like 2 friends on google+, 3 posts, and can not for the life of me figure out what in the world all that data is.
I'm going to remove the data , freeze the app, but just wanted to know if noticed a disproportionate amount of data in the Google+ app compared to the amount of activity/usage I have on google+.
I have created the launcher icon(48x48 px) for 320x480 screen resolution and it's working fine. but while using same icon in WVGA854(480x854 px) it's displaying small compare to other default launcher icon. i want to know, what is the size of High Density WVGA854 launcher icon?

Is it possible to modify the folder grid width within android. For example, by default if I have 3 apps within a folder it will be displayed within the folder in a 2x2 grid with the top two spots and the bottom left occupied with an app. Instead I would like to modify it to be a 3x1 horizontal grid.
I am programming an app using an absolute layout (@ eclipse). How to fit the button size with the screen size? (I have four buttons per row).

Can anyone comment on the screen durability with a case attached or a skin applied to the Aria. I'm hoping that if I purchase the phone and get a good case, or "skin" it, the glass would have a lot less chance of breaking if I drop it, which I surely will do.

View 24 Replies View RelatedI finally made the jump. Rooted today, after much study, and seems to have gone well. Backed up, and ready to go with a ROM, ROM manager installed. So, after untold hours of reading and digging, I cannot come up with a ROM that I can pin down as a good, solid starting point -- or better yet, one I might stick with for a while at least. They are so many. Did much reading on the earlier Fresh RO, but keep gravitating back to the newer ones like Cyanogen, Bugles Beast, etc. But I cannot find any comprehensive talk about these Roms -- it is just scattered and piecemeal. So thought I would ask those who have actually downloaded and flashed these ROM as to their opinion. I use my phone for the basic services. I need solid phone, MSM, Market access and installation, etc. I do not need blazing speed -- much rather stability and function. Where to begin? What say folks?

I had three other people hold my phone and they all experienced the same problem. I tried reporting the problem to Verizon 9 times to help me get a temporary phone while the Incredible is on back order. However, they come back to me saying to either continue using the phone or you must get another phone and hold on to it for two years. I emailed the CEO and finally got a call back from executive relations. Now they keep calling me demanding to have the phone back.

So far I have noticed that it tends to drain more battery, some messages are not recieved/sent, and recently today it deleted my entire library of text messages. I am not complaining abot the app at all. I just want to know if my issues are unique or if anyone else has witnessed these issues on their phone. Let me know if I am just an idiot, or if my phone is acting up, or you guys have also had these issues. I hate to get rid of handcent because I like how I can change the color of the notification LED but its not worth having if it means deleting all my text.

I'm trying to decide if it would be best to get a google experience phone like the nexus one or get a skinned android device (Sense/Blur/ect...). The main thing i'm worried about is app compatability and secondary OS upgrades. Does skinning the device make it any less compatible for apps so you might have strange quirks with your phone? Also i would think if you bought a google experience device the OS upgrades would always come faster (or even if the come at all with a skinned device). I would especially think if you bought a google experience device like the nexus one then the upgrades would almost be immediate. I definitely think the companies that skin android (HTC/Motorola/Ect) have definitely made android look better and maybe a bit more functional but i'm concerned about the issues above with the app compatability being ther MOST important.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if it's normal, but for the built-in messaging app, it takes literally about 9-12 seconds to switch to landscape keyboard when tilted.
Similarly, with eBuddy, the messaging app, it tends to take 5-7 seconds. Is it just me or is that really slow? I don't expect it to be instantaneous, but taking more than 3 seconds or so seems a bit much. Anyone else having issues?
I've got 2 GeoPoints given to show them on the map with markers... so far so good...
how can I get the optimum zoom level for the MapController in order to focus the middle of both points, but also have them on the map.
The whole thing should work at different screen resolutions. Sorry for asking that silly question, I know thats not very difficult, but at the moment my head is boiling..

Very easy to install once I figured out the .NET issue with my windows pc (just needed to update the .NET stuff, @ windowsupdate.com, pretty easy), and very easy to use, though it sure would be nice if the "Kitchen Tutorial" section of geekforme.com was completed. I'm a clicker and tweaker by nature and I knew I couldn't screw up too badly (just flash it back to stock and start over if things turn sour) so away I went. There really is no need to fear with this (pre) Kitchen set up.The auto-root was FAST and very easy. Pulling unwanted applications and pushing files to the device, also simple. Even swapping the theme and lock screen was pretty easy. A good, solid tutorial on the site (which I understand is in progress) would have helped, but there are good people in this and other forums who are happy to help if one gets stuck.
I had rooted my phone previously and removed many stock applications, so I did not notice as large of a performance jump that most do coming from a stock device, but it seems a bit snappier, post Fresh.I have noticed that my battery seems to be draining quicker post Fresh. I charged fully before bed, placed the phone in Airplane Mode and set it on the table. When I woke up this morning, the device had dropped to 50% in 6-7 hours of no use. I don't recall seeing any threads talking about speedy drain post root/fresh, so I'm looking into it. There are no apps installed that I didn't have on the phone before I noticed faster battery drain, save for those installed with Fresh.I'd say it was due to me playing with it more, but I was sleeping... Unless I'm fiddling with it in my sleep... The phone shows an up time of 8hr 27min with an awake percentage of 81%. It seems I've missed something that's keeping the phone awake. Suggestions?
