t i wanna know that is it possible to damage the battery using any of the faulty scripts, kernels, mods, or application in any android phone and if there is possible, HOW??

I am so worried about my battery, nothing is wrong with it i just worry a lot. I am afraid to use my phone outside when it's warm or hot because i am afraid that it'll damage my battery. Will warm or hot weather damage my battery? Should i worry about using it outside?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my Captivate, I've been charging the battery on and off, here and there, never completely, an hour or so at a time, whenever I noticed it running out. Then I read the manual, and it says there that the battery should be "completely" charged for 4 hours before first use.
Have I caused any damage to the battery? I thought with modern batteries we don't have such restrictions and problems as we did with the old batteries (battery memory, discharging once a month, etc).
Is there an app that can check my entire android phone if is faulty?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe camera on my Samsung Galaxy SII has been faulty for a long time now. I was hoping that upgrading to Android 4.1 would re-install the firmware for the camera but this wasn't the case.
As you can see from the attached screen shots, the camera will fail on opening. On some very rare occasions, I'd be able to open the camera, snap a picture, before it would crash. This shows that it is not the hardware that is faulty, but the firmware instead. Usually on these occasions, the screen will display what the camera is pointing at (as it should) before glitching, showing vividly coloured lines and patches instead, before crashing. On top of this, any flashlight apps that utilise the flash of the camera will function for a short time before they too crash.
Since updating to 4.1, I can open the camera but it will just hang, there won't be an image on screen, just black, and there are also no error messages. I then cannot back out of the camera, without using the home button and closing it in the task manager (with a great delay between pressing the home button and the camera actually minimising).
I was hoping that there is a firmware fix for this, as I don't want to have to go and buy a new phone for merely faulty hardware, when the camera itself is fully functional.
I recently bought a window mount off ebay for my Inc and have been loving listening to Pandora and using the Navigation program while driving.
This weekend I drove a couple of hours back and forth to see a friend and both times I had issues with the amber notification light starting to blink. I had the phone plugged into the Verizon car charger. Could it be that the battery was getting too hot and this was the phones way of notifying me? I live in Florida so it would make sense that the phone was getting rather warm in the window mount.
Anybody else have this issue?
Can this cause any damage to the phone or the battery? Am I OK as long as I pull the phone down out of the heat whenever I notice this happening?
Ive noticed when my desire is plugged into the computer and use as a disk drive option the option on the computer to access the desire keep on disappearing from "my computer", could this be down to the cable being damaged as i accidently dropped the phone with the cable plugged into the phone and the phone landed on the bottom eg as it landed it bent the cable, plus when the cable is plugged in its a little loose but is this normal.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been having problems with my G2x's this is the 4th G2x I've had. My first one had a short, second one would randomly flash when I didnt even have the camera on and the screen would flicker like crazy, third one gave me the black screen of death were it was just all black and the phone would not work at all. The fourth one I have now is constantly shutting off on me all the time. I called T-mobile and told them that IDK what the problem is... I don't DL anything crazy and I really love the G2x when it works could it possibly be the battery because that is the only thing that is the same with the phones. So they are sending me out a new battery. Fast forward four days battery still isn't here and I am having the same problems and occasionally have to take out the battery and put it back in so the phone will power on. This morning I noticed my phone did not charge at all. So I pull off the back and what do I see under the battery and small amount of moisture and the white water damage indicator is now RED!
My phone has never been in water or near water or in the rain hasnt even rained for weeks and weeks now. The thing is if it truly got wet wouldn't the white water damage indicator on the battery be red too? Because that one is still white. I called T-mobile and asked them and they said I would have to do an insurance exchange. I told them I am not trying to exchange the phone, but when my new battery comes in and if it doesnt solve the turning off problem I don't want to have to pay for a new phone when I never got my phone wet. The lady said well maybe when it gets humid but IDK. You will have to do an insurance exchange which is 130 for a phone I did not get wet. Experience this and never got there phone wet. Are there anymore indicators on the phone that would show maybe it didnt get wet like can I ask them to open the phone so they know I am not lying. I am getting sick of dealing with T-mobile now. I always have to fight with them about my rebates, getting phone replaced, bogus charges, ect... Now water damage for non-water damage phone.
I have both the Spica and the S side by side. When I tested their compasses, they're pointing in different directions.
I pressed *#0*#. There's nothing unusual on the Spica. The S' Magnetic Sensor Test Self Test says "PASS". However, under sensor, under MAGNETIC Sensor, it says "Need for calibration #". The # fluctuates from 0 to 3 (0, 1, 2, and 3). What does this mean? It says "Need for calibration" but I don't see any options to calibrate the magnetic sensor.
I've already tried the #8 motion in different axes & it didn't fix anything. Is this normal? Is the S supposed to say "Need for calibration" under the MAGNETIC Sensor section?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very big problem with my samsung galaxy nexus. It started 2 weeks ago when I tried to turn ON my phone, and it randomly can't Load the system (Jelly Bean 4.2.2). When I try to Turn it ON, the Nexus Picture stock up (the green red blue yellow moving image suddenly stop) and then a MATRIX like will appear on the screen (sometimes around the nexus image there will be green lines and dots. And sometimes the whole screen will have green pixels/Dots). I thought that the system is damaged, after many trials of recovering the system, I Decided to do a factory reformat/ return to factory settings.
Since I can't access the system, I unlocked the phone , installed teamwin recovery system, and did a wipe of all the things inside the internal memory (that was the most stupid decision ever) since I lost the backup system image inside the internal sd card.
I decided all of that all because that the Galaxy Nexus don't have a external SD CARD. And since I can't do a recovery of my files (because I need to be inside Android to have a DB connection to the phone). I had no option than to wipe all System, Dalvik, Cache, and Data. Now I can't flash any android system since the Clockwork and teamwin need the android image to be inside the SD CARD. And I can't send/receive any file from/to the SD card. I already tried "Nexus Root Toolkit" and "Galaxy Nexus Toolkit".
One good thing is I did install an "ICE CREAM SANDWICH image" using "Odin" (Since that was the only image I found in the internet that can be installed using Odin, but there is no luck also, when the animation is loading, the animation suddenly stop and the phone restarts.
the GPS on my Desire is shocking - it point-blank won't work if there's ANYTHING over my head, so useless in cars/trains/buses, and if i'm out on the street it'll either not work at all or take upwards of 2 minutes to lock a signal. was chatting to a friend about it this weekend, and he whipped out his nexus one and had a locked signal within seconds of opening google maps, whereas mine still refused to budge. have i got a duff handset, or are other people finding this an issue? i'm on Orange, although i'm presuming that GPS isn't reliant on the carrier...
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a couple attempts, I just decided the N1 speakerphone was garbage. I could hear the other person fine, but they said it was very difficult to understand me. I made a recording on my voicemail, using speakerphone, and it is indeed very difficult to understand. It's a garbled/underwater type of thing.
For a couple weeks, I assumed it was just that the phone was designed poorly. But my friend got an N1, so we did some comparisons. His speakerphone sounds fine (not a Nokia, but way better than my N1).
So I'm returning it to HTC for a swap.
This is just a heads-up to people who maybe don't use the speakerphone (those who do, already know if they have a bad one or not). If you think you might someday sell the phone, you probably want all of its features working correctly, and may want to consider RMA.
I noticed this morning that when I already have a new mail notice in the taskbar, all subsequent incoming emails do not activate the alarm (sound+vibration).
Is this normal behaviour? if not, I am running the latest Cyanogen ROM (installed two days ago), can someone using a stock ROM or any other ROM confirm that they also have this problem? I would like to know if this is a problem only on my phone, with Cyanogen's ROM or with Android.
I have Roger's Magic, if it makes a difference.
I wondered if someone could help, I cant get the buttns (pause forward and back) on my handsfree headset to work when playing music. The accept incoming call button will work but not with music, they used to work a week or so ago is it a faulty headset or software?

Is the phone faulty or is there some setting that I can change. I downloaded ChompSMS hoping that would fix it, but it doesn't appear to. When I open my text messaging program, many times it will send a blank text to the last person I texted. The other day, I turned the phone off and turned it back on and it sent a blank text at the exact time I turned it on.

I have noticed that the magnetic flap of my droid pouch has activated the phone every time I insert or pull the phone in/out of the pouch. Even though, the screen will shut off as it supposes to be, but I just wonder will the magnetic will affect, or damage the phone, such as the GPS feature.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo you all know how HTC oddly designed this phone to have it rest on the camera lens. Well my lens is cracked. Not sure when or how it happened. I wont even say it cracking wasn't my fault. Likely was. However I do have insurance and the repair part of it too. I pay 7 dollars a month.
Well took my phone into Sprint and they told me they couldn't repair the lens because it's considered physical damage and if they repaired it it would void the warranty agreement they have with HTC.
So my question is why do I pay an extra 3 dollars a month for repairs when they can't even repair my phone?
They call it physical damage I call it design flaw. They said I would have to file a claim with Asurion and pay 100 deductible to get a replacement phone. Well I dont want a replacement phone. Mine works flawlessly. I dont want to get rid of it. Let alone why would someone in their right mind pay 100 dollars for just a cracked piece of plastic or glass the size of a dime?
I gave a leather holster to my cousin, since it looks like it won't fit the EVO and fits the iPhone perfectly... After 2 days, his screen has this line across the screen. Was this caused by the case I gave him, more specifically the magnets on the case? Will magnets from the leather case damage TFT-LCD screens?

Sprint released their 2.1 update and my understanding is that the good folks at Damageless have based their latest 2.09 on Sprint's new 2.1, adding their own tweaks.
Even after reading the changelog, I'm waivering over whether it will be worth my time to wipe and upgrade again.
Has anyone else gone 2.08/2.08.1 to the new 2.09? What is your experience with 2.09? Was it worth the time and effort? Did you notice any difference in performance? Or maybe a better question - anything in the Sprint release that I don't already have?
The other day I dropped my phone in water and sat there for a while before I noticed. I dried everything out, there was a ot of water under the screen, then turned it back on. Everything seems to work fine but a couple things. It wont connect to the internet, 3G and bluetooth will not turn on. I did the trouble shooting with the verizon tech with no help. So I have a new phone on the way through my insurance but since they are on back order still it may take a while. I need to find a way to get my contacts off the incredible to an old LG dare that I now activated and am using. The incredible will connect via WifF. I went to the verizon store but they couldn't get it to transfer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.
Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?
New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer
I have the seido active case, and I took it off yesterday to check for dust/dirt under it.
When I opened the back cover both the little water check sticker on my phone and battery had red lines criss crossed on them. When I first got the phone I thought they were plain white. I know I haven't got the phone wet.
Does charging phone overnight do any damage? Presumably when the phone is fully charged it does not continue to cook the battery?
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday was the first time I ever took the phone out of its case and removed the back cover, its been in a case 24/7 since I got it. I noticed the water damage indicator is white with a pink "checkerboard-type" pattern throughout it. Does this mean when the BB employee put the Zagg cover on with the water that he turned this pink therefore indicating water damage? If so I am going to be upset and what do I do about it? It's not like I can go back to BB now and claim they damaged it, but how can I prove I didnt expose it to water myself (I didnt, I am exceptionally careful with my phones). My phone works completely fine so no problems now but you never know in the future. Any advice?
