2.1 Update :: Text Messages Not Sending
Dec 5, 2010I successfully updated to the official Vodafone release using SEUS, loving the update so far but I've come across a problem with text messages.
Every couple of text messages they won't send and instead I get the message cannot be sent error. Trying repeated times has the same results then all of a sudden it will randomly work.
It can't be down to bad signal, last time the error came up I had full 'H' signal.
I also tried Handcent to see if using an app would make any difference but it didnt.

Is it possible to use test.setText("something") in this thread to update a Button text or TextView in the LinearLayout after the dialog is dismissed? I try cheating placing:
test.setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE);
test.setText("something");
test.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE);
after dialog.show();
It kind of updated the text when the dialog open. I want to do it after the dialog was dismissed. What is the correct way to implement this in my thread?

Nov 10, 2010I got two text messages from AT&T last night stating that there is an update available. Specifically, it says:
AT&T Free Message: AT&T is providing a free update for your phone. When asked to install the update, please select OK.
Anyone else running Cognition getting these messages? I'm running 2.3 beta (something I forget). Is this just the reminder for the update they sent down a month or so ago?

General :: Pasting As Plain Text To Prevent Text Messages Converting To MMS?
Jun 24, 2013If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.

May 1, 2009I'm using the MediaPlayer to play audio (mp3) files. I don't think I'm doing anything out of the ordinary, but, during playback, I get many (several per second) log messages like these:

I've searched all over the place for this - other people seem to experience the same thing but I can find any sort of explanation as to what it means.
Am I doing something wrong?
Also, how do I define a LogCat filter (in eclipse) to *remove*, say, all AudioFlinger messages? I can't seem to find the "not" syntax.

May 29, 2014I'm looking around for a textmessage app that allows me to send/recieve texts (like the default app) but also allows me to backup and store (maybe online) my messages.
For example:If I would buy a new phone, I just needed to redownload the app and restore my texts.

Feb 21, 2013so I am using Nova launcher and minimalistic text widget and I am making a theme where there are big blocks of clickable text. One of the things I would like to do is to open a app folder when i click on one of the text blocks. I was thinking I could just make a transparent widget or something above minimalistic text widget because it does not look like there is a way to do that with the app. Is there a way to resize folders with nova launcher? am I better off just using something like Simi folder and setting a big name for the folder and no icon or something?

May 31, 2012I have set the stock messaging app to keep 75 text messages for each user. For some reason, once that 75 message point is exceeded, it only deletes the incoming messages. My replies are kept, and the total number goes above 75 indefinitely until I delete the long tail of my replies at the top of the thread. First, would I be correct in assuming that this is not normal behavior? Second, if that's correct, how do I fix this?
If it matters, I'm using an HTC Evo 3D with a rooted version of the stock ROM. The same problem happened before rooting. I don't believe this is a maker- or device-specific problem, but I'm happy to repost in the Evo 3D subforum if it is.
General :: Can't View Received Text Messages
Oct 19, 2013Last night my phone suddenly stopped picking up some of my text messages. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I have never had this problem before - I've had the phone for about 6 months now. It comes up with a notification that I have a message, and as normal when I drag down the notification bar it will let me preview the first line of the text. However when I go to my inbox it isn't there; likewise my sent messages haven't saved in the conversation.
The thing is, this is only an issue with two of my contacts; I have been sending and receiving texts from other people it's just these two and they both have i phones - could this be something to do with it?
I am not using any 3rd party messaging apps either like handcent. I just use the messaging service that the phone came with.
I said I've never had this issue before and out of the blue it's not showing my texts! It's driving me nuts.
