View 40 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is trying to delete a thread of 1600 text messages from one person. Everytime I try to delete, it freezes my phone & have to force close the messages. Even turning off my phone doesn't work, I have to pull the battery out.
I tried looking up some answers on the forum. One member mentioned downloading Handcent. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me either. Same issues occured, phone froze & couldn't restart phone...had to take the battery out!
I have like 1800 texts from one person, and I use handscent, and I'm pretty sure it would take hours to do this, is there a quicker way to do it. I'm not even sure it would even delete them all after hours to be honest

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have over 2,000 texts built up that I am currently trying to delete. Yet every time I try to delete the thread the phone seems like it cannot do it or seems like it is being over worked. Is there any other way to get rid of built up texts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Handcent for my SMS text app. I have about 6k texts on my phone now. Haven't deleted any since 2.1 came out and I needed to format. Sometimes my phone CRAWLS when receiving or sending a text. I mean it'll take 2-3 minutes just to send or receive a text. Handcent will hang for that long. When I power down the phone it usually improves responsiveness in Handcent but I'm wondering if I should delete the threads? Will I notice an improvement in text speed? I have no idea how much space a text message uses but I'm also wondering if I'm wasting internal memory space too. I don't have many picture messages. They are mostly just text messages.

Now the Eris is very laggy, and deleting the other threads of texts helped, but everytime i try to delete this thread of 2800 (and counting) texts the program crashes and i have to force close it. I am using the OEM eris messages program.

I literally pushed the delete button when i went to bed the other night and 6 hours later nothing had happened except that i needed to pull my battery. This really cant be the only way to delete can it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI made a app to block some junk messages. That app would delete the messages from the senders specified in the ban list. That app works in a way, but has some defects, as follows, 1. Sometime it just doesn't work, missing the new message to delete. 2. Even if it works deleting the message, a notification sound and message still occur. Therefore, could any improvement be made to 100% block messages without any notifications? Please check the codes below, and see what I can do.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know what the deal is lately, but when I try to delete text messages, it just will NOT do it. It looks like it is "working" on it forever, then it goes to force close!

On the X10, is it possible to organize text messages so that they appear in an in box and sent items etc? Mine are showing up by each contact, which is good in a way, but I can't find a way to delete individual messages. It seems that all messages from a contact all form part of one long thread, even if I start a new message to a contact. That means that when I went to delete a message from a contact, the phone deleted all the messages from her. There wasn't anythign of special importance in them, but I'd like to be able to delete single messages.
I got my HTC Hero a while ago, it is running Android version 1.5. Now my problem is, I've never really deleted any of my texts, so now I've got loads of texts stored on the phone and if I try to delete them, the phone just crashes, it either just freezes up completely or comes up with an error message saying that it could not delete my texts!
Ive tried deleting texts by one person at a time, but as soon as it reaches somebody that has over around 100 texts, it stops. I've tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I can only see the things that are on my memory card! Is there any way that I can hook up the phone to the computer and see all the texts there and delete them from there?
Quick question! How can i deleted multiple text messages? Can x10 mini pro do multiple deletion of text messages?

View 7 Replies View Related1. How can I delete an entire string of text messages in one fell swoop? I can delete them one at a time, but I just had to delete 44 text messages (an entire conversation between me and a friend) and I'd really like to know how to do this in bulk! (I am using Handcent SMS).
2. I can get the default ringtone to change, but I cannot figure out how to make each contact have its own ringtone. The manual says to go to the contact itself and then select "information" and then "ringtone," however, I cannot select these parts. They are grayed out. How to do this?!?!
3. I want the text alerts to only give off a sound, NOT a vibration and a sound. I went into the tools for Handcent and clicked the "vibrate only when device is set to vibrate mode" but it still vibrates. How can I make this work?
4. Is there a "help" section on the phone itself? Something I can search on the phone itself when I get stumped like this?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.
is there a way to delete threaded messages, similar to if you wanted to delete emails? like if i have 20 text threads, and only wanna delete 10.. but do all 10 at the same time..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to delete a bunch messages from one thread and keep the others, I don't want to delete the whole thread. The messaging app I'm using is stock JB 4.2.2.
Questions:
1. Is it possible to do it without other apps?
2. If not which messaging app do you recommend? I prefer something close to stock and light.
3. Are AOKP or CM10 using stock SMS app or they do have their own?
4. If they use their app, are they have the option I mentioned?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to send a text message today, and all of my conversations had been cleared. This has happened once before about a year ago and I eventually gave up trying to restore my messages. How to prevent it? I'm thinking the message database is somehow getting corrupted which is why it's clearing out all of my conversations?
I'm running 2.3.3 - my phone was rooted at some point but I'm guessing after an OS update I lost that capability. This happened before the OS update and now after.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was sending a text and input the wrong phone number (a 2 at the end instead of a 3) and now every time I starting inputting that phone number to send a text both numbers come up. I can't find any way to delete the one that is incorrect or any way to delete both or to delete all of the numbers that show up that way. Is there a text cache that can be deleted? I used app cache cleaner, but that didn't work.
