Oct 10, 2011I got my Samsung Galaxy Precedent last week, and after some bumps trying to get used to this, I've been able to fix most problems I've had, except with images in texts.
I can send or attach messages to texts, but I don't get any images being sent to me. The Precedent runs on Straight Talk's network, and has "unlimited" talk, text and data. It's letting me send as far as I know, but I can't get any incoming pics in texts.
General :: Retrieving Text Messages From Galaxy S3 With Screen Not Working
Oct 29, 2013I have a broken Galaxy 3 phone where the screen suddenly stopped functioning with a total blackout so I can't use the phone at all. There is no problem getting the phone fixed within a couple of days but the problem is I want to save all my messages, contacts and other data, especially one conversation text message thread that has gone on for about a year, to my pc. I want the information to be able to be viewed independently on my computer like I read emails etc. and then I can store it on a portable hard drive by copy and paste.
Samsung kies doesn't seem to allow for this. I can back up the phone apparently but the info can only be read by another similar phone so it is restricting how you see your own information. I want the information on my computer without the need of another similar phone because what if I decide to buy a totally different phone that has software that's not compatible.
The shop representing Samsung who will fix the phone said that everything gets wiped and they won't even have Kies on their computers because they think its unstable software. Ideally it would be great if there was some kind of software for my computer that enabled it to read all the info on the phone as if the phone was a flash drive connected by USB and then I could simply copy and paste across from phone to computer. The phone is recognised by the computer through the USB but obviously it can't read inside the folders on the phone which just show as empty. How to get the results I want?

A force close didn't seem to make any difference clicked back to the home screen, powered off, waited a minute and restarted.Everything started up fine. Went back to Social Hub only to find that ALL my text threads are gone.E-mails are fine, but all my texts are gone.I know there is no way to undelete text messages, but technically I didn't delete them. They must be stored somewhere. Is they anyway to retrieve them or has the system "deleted" them? Nov 5, 2010My wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?

Jun 24, 2013If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.

May 31, 2012I have set the stock messaging app to keep 75 text messages for each user. For some reason, once that 75 message point is exceeded, it only deletes the incoming messages. My replies are kept, and the total number goes above 75 indefinitely until I delete the long tail of my replies at the top of the thread. First, would I be correct in assuming that this is not normal behavior? Second, if that's correct, how do I fix this?
If it matters, I'm using an HTC Evo 3D with a rooted version of the stock ROM. The same problem happened before rooting. I don't believe this is a maker- or device-specific problem, but I'm happy to repost in the Evo 3D subforum if it is.
General :: Can't View Received Text Messages
Oct 19, 2013Last night my phone suddenly stopped picking up some of my text messages. I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I have never had this problem before - I've had the phone for about 6 months now. It comes up with a notification that I have a message, and as normal when I drag down the notification bar it will let me preview the first line of the text. However when I go to my inbox it isn't there; likewise my sent messages haven't saved in the conversation.
The thing is, this is only an issue with two of my contacts; I have been sending and receiving texts from other people it's just these two and they both have i phones - could this be something to do with it?
I am not using any 3rd party messaging apps either like handcent. I just use the messaging service that the phone came with.
I said I've never had this issue before and out of the blue it's not showing my texts! It's driving me nuts.
