General :: Razr Asks For WiFi Password Every Time Connect
Apr 24, 2012My droid razr asks for my password to my home wifi every time i go out of range and then come back and try to connect again. Using netgear wnr2000 with wpa. If i input my password and press connect, it lets me use wifi just fine. Updated netgear to latest firmware last night and browsed through all settings, but didn't see anything that might make a difference. Still does it today. Even just going out in the yard and back, have to re-enter pass if i got out of range. Doesn't happen with any other devices i use... laptops, other phones. Even reserved the ip that my phone currently had on the netgear for the phone.

May 23, 2014I have a brand new windows 7 computer, I have installed the latest android SDK, I want to connect to my Nexus 10 using adb.
(device has windows drivers from SDK; "Android Composite ADB Interface". adb version 1.0.31)
when I do adb devices, it does see my device but it says my device is unauthorised.
It has never displayed the security popup.
I am convinced that the security pop up would make this work, but i cannot get it to show, so that it does whatever magic it does.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the usb cable,
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off.
I have changed the USB connection from Camera, to Media, back to Camera.
I can see the adbkey file under $HOME/.android in windows
The android directory /data/misc/adb/ is empty
I have root.
How can I force the security popup to display? Or how can I frig this so I can get it working?
What does the secuirty popup do anyway? probably just copy the adbkey file from windows into the android /misc/adb/ directory right? Can I do it by hand?
Slightly unrelated question, is it true that everything works first time, everytime on IOS?

1) My application is going to have an optional password activity that will be called when the application is first opened.
My questions for this are a) If I store the password via android preference or SQLite database, how can I ensure security and privacy for the password, and b) how should password recovery be handled?
Regarding b) from above, I have thought about requiring an email address when the password feature is enabled, and also a password hint question for use when requesting password recovery. Upon successfully answering the hint question, the password is then emailed to the email address that was submitted. I am not completely confident in the security and privacy of the email method, especially if the email is sent when the user is connected to an open, public wireless network.
2) My application will be using an SQLite database, which will be stored on the SD card if the user has one. Regardless of whether it is stored on the phone or the SD card, what options do I have for data encryption, and how does that affect the application performance?

Feb 2, 2010I am developing an app that uploads files to an FTP server, and the app will have the ftp user name / password in the code. I'm investigating making the FTP user name and password as secure as possible (including an encrypted value for each in a strings.xml and decrypting in the app when it needs to connect to the FTP server).
My concern is this is not actually secure at all, it seems someone could unzip the .apk, decompile it, view the strings.xml and java code that decrypts it - and thereby obtain the ftp login info.
So my question is.. am I approaching this wrong way? Is there a standard method of ensuring passwords that are hard coded into an app can be secure? (note - in this case this is not a password a user of the app would enter, the FTP password is universal to all that install it so it is included in the app).
Motorola Droid X :: Disabling Security Password Upon Unlocking
Sep 23, 2010I upgraded to 2.2 yesterday and download was quick (<5 min) and install was equally quick.
When it rebooted to the new system it required me to establish a security code that comes on when you unlock the phone. I want to disable this function- but in the setting menu the choice to disable is there- but not able to be selected to be modified? Am I just missing something?
BTW: seems like a smart unlock as it only ask for your password if it has slept for a while (which makes me believe there is a setting somewhere that modulates the length of time after sleep that this is activated).
HTC Hero :: Security Flaw - Password Protect The Recovery Image
Sep 19, 2010Is it possible to password protect the recovery image; where we flash our roms ect...?
I have password protected the device to stop the phone being used while it is on, but it's really pointless when someone can turn the phone off and just reflash the device.
Granted, they could do that anyway even if i had an offical rom without the recovery image, but it would still be a nice feature if it's possible.

Aug 12, 2010Yesterday i added a security pattern where you have to fill in the pattern when the phone like starts. I took the wrong pattern and have to login with google stuff now. I did login and all stuff, but i get error saying wrong password or username. I checked on google.com that it was correct and it is. Now i do not have Internet checked on before it went to locking so i dunno if its the reason that i do not have the internet connection on it.

So I went to a friends router and entered the password into my smartphone and connected to the Wifi successfully. While in the network I synced my smartphones Google account. Dec 2, 2013At home I turn off my wifi when I go to work and when I turn it back on, my nexus 5 doesn't remember the password. My nexus S was the same. This recommends switching my router to WEP (it's currently WPA-PSK), however I'm not sure I actually CAN change this in my router settings. Shouldn't it just work anyway, or is it a router problem? Should I just stop turning off the router? This feels like it shouldn't be a problem: why can't the phone simply paste the password into the box for this specific router name & ID, rather than me typing it?

I had to reset my phone, root, and install fresh rom again. Now I am trying to use lockpicker again, but it doesn't work anymore. I have tried everything I can think of and have searched extensively. Touchdown can connect, but there is no way I am paying for that when I was able to get the stock email app working the first time.

General :: HTC Phones Won't Connect To WiFi?
Mar 25, 2011We have 4 android phones at our house (2 HTC Wildfires and 2 HTC Arias). All four phones have been working flawlessly with the home wifi. Until today. For no reason at all, none of the phones will connect to the wifi. Nothing has changed. The phones have not been updated, the we haven't touched the router or the modem. Just to double check that the password hadn't been hacked, I fired up my laptop, and it's working great. The phones will "see" the signal, and report that it's excellent, they just won't connect.
I've tried battery pulls, recycling the wifi setting on the phones, resetting the router, changing the security type, double and triple checking passwords, and the only thing that would allow them to connect was to remove all security from my router and make it an open network. They connected to that just fine, but it's not something I'm comfortable leaving.

When I try to connect to an open network, it says obtaining up, remembered, connecting, then disabled. When I connect to closed networks, it works for a while thence wifi becomes ed and goes off and on over and over. Sometimes turning my phone off and on again. Most times it doesn't.

Jun 16, 2011Interesting issue. I recently set up a repeater in my house to boost my router signal. I assigned the same ssid and wep key as my router to the repeater. Since it's been connected I can't connect to the internet from my LG Optimus S while wi-fi is on--it says page can't be displayed. I'm definitely connected to my home network. When I disable wi-fi I connect easily with 3g. Did I configure the repeater incorrectly, or is it an issue with the phone settings.

So here is the problem, when I go around town. My phone will connect to the wifi network around town. It will keep connecting and disconnecting to the wifi and data network. Making my IP phone and IM apps act weird.
Is there anyway to keep both wifi and 4g data on at the same time. I know the old app superpower on xda does it on some roms. but doesnt work on stock Razr HD.

Apr 8, 2014I bought phone with android 4.2.2 os and i cant normally connect wifi N. In router installed dd-wrt, access point, G/N speed, wpa2. In phone i press connect button and after some time, web browsing, pages stop reloading, but logo shows i am connected. So after that i need in phone turn off , turn on wifi to have ability browse fot ~5 min again..so frustrating. How i can solve that? i dont think router is problem, because my laptop with wifi working very good.
