is there any means or app to dictate messages in Google hangout?
Is it possible to use Google Now to send a Hangout message? When I say "message XXX" it wants to send a text even though I already have a Hangout conversation ongoing with that contact. Note, I do have Hangouts set as the default SMS app.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm pretty new to Android, just got a HTC One as I was fed up with Apple and I'm loving it! Such an amazing phone! I have a question which maybe is me doing something wrong. My texts come through the Google hangout app which is good and of course I can reply but it does something weird. When I reply to a text it automatically says not sent and do I want to resend. It does this even if I have a full 3G signal. When I press resend it flies through and sends it straight away. This is fine but the issue is that it's sending messages twice so the recepicant gets 2 texts off me the same??

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew feature on the android Hangout app :
"Long press contacts in the New Hangout screen to hide them."
I tested and hided someone but now I wish to unhide him now, how can i do ?
I looked everywhere, can't find the option not even in block contacts, i can't see him with the green icon now even though he's online.
During a video hangout, the audio randomly switches from "speakerphone" mode to handset mode. The video itself is fine. The other person's audio will get really quiet because it's coming from the handset speaker, and they will complain that they can't hear me anymore.
After this happens, I can manually hit the speaker button and choose the option to use the Speaker rather than Handset mode, and the problem fixes itself. However, the fix usually lasts less than a couple minutes. Within 1-3 minutes it will change back to handset mode. This happens even if the phone is sitting down on the table during the hangout and I'm not interacting with it and there's no chance for me to inadvertently press a button or cover up the proximity sensor.
I'm using an EVO LTE with a stock ROM w/ root if matters.
When trying to use the voice recognition microphone to dictate a text message, I get a "connection problem" error message. Is there a fix for this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been quite Google Plus for quite a while (though not very active with it).
On my Nexus 4 when I launch the Google Plus app and go to All Circles. It has this "Welcome to Google+" post with a couple suggestions of people I should add. Then below that is a post from my circle. Then bellow that is a "Looking for more?" post from Google suggesting yet even more people I should add.
My problem is, I already added quite a few people to my Circles. I'm set. I don't want to keep seeing this "Welcome to Google+" and "Looking for more?" posts in my Google feed. It's distracting and I have to scroll past this every time just to see what I really came to see.
I want to like Google Plus. But I use Twitter mostly and have a hard time trying to embrace they weird way Google does things with this app on Android.
my friend recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note. Messages sent by others to her on Google Hangouts are not displayed. It runs on Android 4.1.2. I want to know what to do now...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
How can I have my AT&T number show up as the text message/sms number for google voice?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Google voice for a few months now and have been loving it until last night.I mainly use it for txt messages and last night I received one immediate followed by a txt message from the same person/ content as an actual txt message.I have continued to receive duplicate messages from this person (only one that has txt'd me) and I need it to stop! I don't have an unlimited txt plan (and don't want one) not to mention the redundancy of the messages coming to Google voice and my txt folders. Can anyone PLEASE help me? I don't know if this is a result of updating to 2.2 two days ago or not.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm interested in creating an Android application that will set the user's Google Talk custom status message to something created by my application.Since a user running Android (at least on the G1 w/ T-Mobile) is always signed in to their Google Account, is there a way to leverage that and not require the user enter credentials into my application? If not, is there an easy-to-use XMPP interface available or am I stuck with writing a XMPP client from scratch? Alternatively, does the Google Talk application running on Android phones support any intents that I could use to tell it to change the user's status? While researching this issue I have come across a number of pages that reference what appears to be a deprecated com.google.android.xmppservice and com.google.android.gtalkservice. Is there a replacement for either of those or were they removed without replacement?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated to the new Google voice and now my notifications are getting pushed. Currently, I have it set up to send me an e-mail to notify me, but I'm getting the Google voice notification before the e-mail notification. It's doing this on both my voice mail and my text messaging. Hopefully this isn't some fluke, because the update says nothing about push notifications.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've seen such posts on the site earlier, however never found a solution to this problem.
I'm able to send messages from my Google Talk on Samsung Galaxy S running Android 2.1 update 1.
However, I'm not receiving any messages at all from anyone. This is making me feel horribly disabled.
Has anyone found any solution to this problem?
I tried several things like restarting the phone, clearing Google talk service and app cache, signing out and back in, etc. I don't want to reset the phone again and loose all my current setup. I've read some posts that reset also doesnt work.
Is there any solution to this problem?
So today I tried using the Google Talk app with a friend of mine who was at his computer. I could see he was online and so could he, and he could receive the messages I sent him. However, I couldn't receive any messages he sent me (which was unfortunate since I set up a really cool Beach Boys ringtone to go off for gchat notifications...). Anyways, has anyone else had this problem?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIve been reading this forum for several months, and bought my Eris last month (previous Blackberry Storm owner). With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.
Is there a way to prevent google voice from notifying me of or stop recording blank messages?Every time someone calls me and hangs up I get a voicemail alert including empty transcription even though nothing is there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to be on GV 100% (voice, txt, whatever else GV provides) the problem wiht this so far is that i get duplicate text messages - which is annoying the reason for my frustration as i see it is that GV is not as integrated into the phone the same way voice calls are - when you dial out, it goes out through my GV number, not my number from my carrier now, i could send a txt to someone using google's GV widget, but the problem with that is i lose the ability to click on the Messages button in the contact's info page (see pg 36 in the manual) and see my entire text history with that client bummer however, as a result of this whole stock-message-app-draining-the-battery "thing" i've jumped onboard the handcent bandwagon turns out, handcent stores its messages in the phones database/memory/whatever so that the text history is retained and accessible via that Messages button in the contact info page! nice! now.. if only you could send OUT to GV's system through these 3rd party messaging apps (thus avoiding GVs app and its inability to save/store txt msg history in the contacts page), we would be set!
Well, today i learned that when a person sends you a txt through the GV service (ie - they send you a text to your GV number), it appears to you as a 406 area code (see here - read TuXian's post) and furthermore, you can save that number in the contact's info page and send to that person using that number its not "perfect" because its not "seamless" -- the end user has to THINK - and DO SOMETHING for this system to work which is okay for us "techies" and "enthusiasts" - but for the general public, that's not gonna cut it but it seems to work at this point either HTC needs to improve teh Sense UI to incorporate content generated in the GV widget/app, or google needs to store its data in the Hero's file structure.... but this is definitely "kludgy" and they will need to a better job if they expect to rival apple and the iphone in a meaningful and significant way (ok, where did that little rant come from!)
So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?
