General :: How To Root And Install Custom Firmware On Arc
Apr 11, 2013Is there any word when a method to root and install custom firmwares on the Arc (such like Cyagonmod or something)?
I've tried just about most of the common methods I've found so far, and I've gotten nothing.
The only thing I can think of is the fact that the Arc is suspiciously similar to the Nexus 7, so can look into root and see if a port can be made for the Arc.

I have a small annoying issue that I am sure could be fixed with a flash, the back button randomly stops working until I reboot.
The baby Einstein on their 800 number thought a factory reset would fix it, then that using the software button was a good enough solution and had no clue about tablets in general. Through Support e-mail they were heading towards wanting me to ship the tablet back rather than supply a link to firmware. I explained to them it doesn't appear to be hardware related as it is random, and reboot fixes it.

Feb 17, 2012I currently have a i9001 using Android 2.3.3 with baseband version I9001XXKF8 and am planning to flash with the newer I9001XXKQ1 version since there is no official 2.3.6 update for my region.
My current firmware I use has the South African CSC files(I9001OJCKF3) but the newer firmware uses the German CSC(I9001DBTKP1). My phone is not sim-locked.
If I flash to the newer firmware would that 'brick' the device? If I backup my current CSC files from /root/system/csc would I be able to restore these onto the newer firmware? If so would replacing these require factory reset or any such thing?

General :: Can't Restore Stock Firmware
Mar 26, 2014I have a problem for a few days. The story is that I installed Custom ROM and it stop asking for unlock code when I insert a new carrier sim card. Somebody told me to restore to Stock Firmware. I used "KDS Firmware Update" to push Stock Firmware from my PC but when the phone restart to install Stock Firmware, Custom Recovery Mode appear instead of Stock Recovery Mode. As the result, it failed to install.
I'm looking for a way to restore Stock Recovery Mode but I found nothing. Now, how to do it or give me the Stock Recovery Image zip for my LG Optimus G E973.

I found out that I needed something called Kies, so I downloaded it and followed the instructions - hooked up the phone after checking debugging, etc, but I got an error that said I don't have authorization or something. I started researching a bit, but got quickly overwhelmed with things I'd never heard of like "Odin".

Today, I looked online for overclocking my LG Optimus F3, and I found this thread "[MS659][F3] Freedom Kernel Overclocked" (I'm a newbie xda won't let me post links yet). It said you could achieve a 1.4 GHz overclock (my device has a 1.2 GHz processor). So, dummy me, I got all excited and flashed the MS65910c firmware to my phone like the thread said I needed to have (I didn't know that that would switch my service providers as I had Virgin Mobile). So, I'm a little confused still... Can I still have Virgin Mobile service with MetroPCS firmware? If not, I want to restore my device back to Virgin Mobile firmware (LS720ZV6). The problem is, I am also a little confused with the flashing firmware thing. Can I flash .zip files instead of .kdz files (I couldn't find LS720ZV6 .kdz firmware files on the web)?

Jun 22, 2013My phone(Samsung Galaxy GT-B5510 (Galaxy Y Pro/Galaxy TXT)) was totally bricked, I couldn't turn wifi on, nothing worked.After I searched some forums I found how to un-brick it by loading the original firmware.
I live in Belgium, and I couldn't find a firmware with the Belgian CSC("PRO"), so I used a Netherlandish-one.Everything went fine and I can use my phone again, everything works, except that the AZERTY-keyboard functions as a QWERTY-one(the default for Netherlands).
Anyways, my phone works fine without a SIM-card. Whenever I try to boot my phone with a SIM inserted, it gets stuck in a bootloop, showing the Samsung-image for about 15 seconds and then rebooting and so on.
So after I thought a bit, I figured out the problem must be that I'm not using a Belgian CSC (my SIM is from Belgium too).
I tried restoring my phone with Samsung Kies, but whenever I click Start upgrade, I get a Chinese error.
However, I have found the location where Kies downloaded the firmware, and the firmware is with a PRO-csc(the one I need), it's located in
C:Users{me}AppDataTempBinaryGT-B5510.
So I tried flashing this Kies-firmware with ODIN, but the problem is that the Kies-firmware has no extension(no .tar.md5 or whatever), so I can't import it with ODIN.What do I do?

Nov 17, 2012One thing that bothers me about my Android phone is the opaque, closed-source baseband firmware ("radio" as it's often called here). Since the baseband is interposed between the OS and most hardware functions, its firmware presents a major unknown in the total security of the device.
It's unlikely that the source code for any of this baseband firmware is going to be released, and the open source OsmocomBB baseband is a long way off from supporting Android or the dominant Qualcomm chips. But I would settle for decompiling an existing baseband firmware image, so that I can start to understand some things about it's behavior, and perhaps compile modified versions.

Feb 25, 2014i previously Flashed a custom OS onto my phone, Cyanogen Mod 11, when i got bored of it i decided to download the Stock touchwiz android for my Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, i proceeded to download Odin307, once i had the OS and Odin i opened Odin in Administrator, i choose my file which was extracted and i used the PDA option to choose it, all was fine until it encountered this error (<ID:0/006> Complete(Write) operation failed.)
once that failed i tried to boot the phone where it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode ion Kies and try again" SO basically i can still get into the Download mode and can get to the Firmware upgrade error screen, that is all, is there a way to fix it? ive tried countless times to flash the stock touchwiz but get the same error message on odin!

General :: TouchWiz Firmware - Previous Backups Were Gone?
Oct 3, 2013I'm not sure what I must've done. But nevertheless my stock Touchwiz firmware from my Galaxy S3 is gone. I must've deleted it while doing a factory reset, because my play store was acting up.
I would like to flash back to stock Touchwiz on my phone but when I looked for it on ROM Manager and in recovery all my previous backups were gone. So I was wondering if there is a way to get my stock firmware back or maybe even retrieve it from my phone from someplace it could be hiding.
Some more info: I am running CyanogenMod 10.1.3 and rooted with clockwork mod. This is on my Samsung Galaxy S3. And I am with T-Mobile on a contract in the United States.

Feb 15, 2014I updated my phone earlier today to jelly bean 4.3. Since then, I have stopped receiving network. The EMEI number doesn't show in the device info either. Tried restarting, taking out the sim card and putting it back in. Nothing works. It says this right after restarting, "currently unable to download, try again later". I bought my phone from Qatar and I am currently using it in UK (t-mobile) if that makes any difference, but it was working perfectly fine before.
