how to stop the annoying media scan on this Galaxy S Captivate, which included tutorials on rooting and getting sdk files.
Now I would like to upgrade to the latest firmware. I found out that I needed something called Kies, so I downloaded it and followed the instructions - hooked up the phone after checking debugging, etc, but I got an error that said I don't have authorization or something. I started researching a bit, but got quickly overwhelmed with things I'd never heard of like "Odin".
My 9300+ (chinese mtk6577) is dead... I have to updated wrong firmware and my phone will don't turn ON again, when I use the SP Flash Tool appears the message: "Firmware Upgrade could not be executed without PMT. Please "Download" ONLY first to create PMT on the target!
My internal partition is corrupted and i can't create PMT because my phone don't Turn On, but my USB is recognized by windows.
My phone wont boot up its a samsung exhibit 4g and it running gingerbread 2.3.3 it says firmware upgrade failed tried everything only post if you have a link or know what your doing im now stuck on blackberry with out my presious bikerace game.
View 6 Replies View Relatedyesterday I flashed my Galaxy Ace 2 with the JellyCreamMessi10 Rom.
The update worked fine, but not so the Rom. It looked quite well, but didn't detect my SIM Card.
So I wanted to downgrade my phone again to the original firmware with Odin, which also worked well until the phone said "Now rebooting...".
Nothing happened, the phone did not reboot, so that I powered it off and tried to power it back on.
Unfortunately, the Ace 2 does not react on any button, display stays completely black.
Tried several things like connecting the phone to USB and inserting the battery, afterwards, but nothing happens.
For me it looks like my phone is broken, but how I can get it back to live?
I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade/downgrade an android phone (samsung mostly) with official firmwares without the need to root? The reason is that some testing is needed on these devices and only with official firmwares it would be valid. And at will it would be nice to be able to switch versions for different test purposes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought LG VU II (F200L) in perfectly working condition, it almost new. After installing LG PC suite and connecting it said new firmware update is available so I proceeded which was done successfully but since then touch screen is not working properly.
Usually it responds ok but main issue is back button is not working anymore, and sometimes when I press power button to unlock screen it responds very weird and not so responsive as well as sometimes doesnt responds or opens apps that I havent even clicked.
I tried to restore, emergency restore, LG Flash tools and used correct KDZ files to flash roms successfully but nothing seems to resolve this issue.
I have a Galaxy s4 (i9500) and a linksys cisco e900 router
Recently my isp asked me to upgrade the firmware
Until I updatee my firmware everything was working fine
After the firmware upgrade I am experiencing the following issues:
At the beginning when I conmect to my wifi everything works fine for the first 5 min, all apps work flawlessly, then suddenly my phone only uploads date (up arrow only) but no down arrow n then my apps such as whatsapp, fb messenger, etc do not recieve any data until I goto those apps and stay in there for about a min. Then I get all my whatsapp messages sent about a min ago . But my browser seems fine..and the speed there is good.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to understand how end-users will upgrade their device firmware from Android ver. X to X+1. A new build of Android contains system.img and userdata.img (among others). system.img is read-only, so I don't see any problem with simply replacing the user's existing copy. However, simply overwriting userdata.img with a newer version would destroy all of an end-users application data (wouldn't it?).
I'm trying to understand how this process will work for our Android- based device. It seems that the designers of Android must have had a plan for doing this without the user losing all of their data, but I can't find any documentation about this. Googling for this information yields lots of pages containing hacker- level instructions (e.g. adb commands) -- still no idea how this process was envisioned to work for average end-users.
Hi - I just bought a Desire and can see that the Calendar program is not as good as it should be.
1. If a multiple day all day event is tapped when the user is on the month view, the next window simply shows the event on that day as an all day event. It should really show the start and end dates of the event. Currently the only way I can find to see this information is by editing the event then cancelling the edit screen.
2. If a "non-all day" event is created that starts on Monday @ 11:00am and ends on thursday at 3:00pm, then when I tap on the event in month view it shows the event happening SEPARATELY on every day between 11am and 3pm. It should say Monday 11am - Thursday 3pm. Currently the only way I can find to see this information is by editing the event then cancelling the edit screen. These are hard to explain but easy to see when you try it on the phone.
I think these issues need to be fixed in any software/firmware upgrade that there may be. Loving the phone though. Glad I went for it instead of iPhone
I purchased the phone today at 8:20AM CDT. It is now 1:10PM CDT and I have not gotten any work done. That's over 20% of the day already drained. All the tweaks and technology that has gone in this phone, and neither Sprint or Samsung were able to slow down time. At this rate, I won't be able to even go through a full day without not spending most of my time on the phone. I've been told that time management will be better as time goes on, but I'm worried I might need to get spare hours in a day. Lets hope there is a firmware update soon that will help with this. I am sure my friends, family, and employers will really appreciate it.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am using Samsung Galaxy S3, model GT-I9300. So I accidentally deleted a huge file in my phone earlier and I was trying to recover the file by rooting the phone and using this apps called DiskDigger. I obviously made a huge mistake as I have now made it worse. Long story short, I've used tips from multiple websites and youtube videos so now my phone is basically forever showing this right now
After reading a few threat, some people suggested to hold the volume down + home + power but this made no difference. I can't switch it off, it will blank out for 3 sec and go back to saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". I installed Kies but the device will not connect to my laptop for some reason. I have uninstall and reinstall Keis a few times. I've tried every single USB port on my laptop and even the extended USB port but none of them work too. I used my sister's android for Kies and it's working fine, so the problem is my phone.
I have already downloaded ODIN 3.07. I read in one of the thread that I have to put in a .tar file. Another person had the same problem as me (Stuck with 'Firmware Upgrade Issue') and it seemed to be working for him but I don't know what the .tar file is.

Purchased my Galaxy in Italy in September. Upon returning to Australia, I found Voice Search on Android Market and downloaded it. I was very impressed with it.Since then I have upgraded my firmware to IH7 via NPS. Voice Search disappeared and is no longer available on the Market. I found a thread with links to a voice search & voice dialer apks, however have had no luck once installed, as they display errors when run.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy GT-17500L (its a Bell Canada phone). After purchasing the phone (which was originally unlocked) I bought a Solo mobile sim-card, which was needed in order to use the phone on my Solo monthly plan. Everything was working fine until I decided to try and update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6; unfortunately, like a few others from Canada, I didn't properly read the guide and after the upgrade, the phone was "re-locked" and wasn't accepting my sim-card. After going through the guide posted on Pg.4 here (Bell Canada users and Brazilian Users - Galaxy 7500L (notice the L)), with the help of Rasta-Man FB posts and others, I was able to get my phone back to the original firmware, but now I'm having reception issues. The phone will at times pick up the Solo Netowork (I'm still using the original solo sim card), but then drop it after 10 minutes and just say there is no service. When I search for networks, it recognizes the Solo one (I'm guessing b/c of the S.C) but it isn't able to connect.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi successfully got into adb in recovery mode fairly easily on my ubuntu 10.4 laptop using the following method- this should also work for a linux live boot from a usb flash drive
in one terminal tail and follow log messages
~$ tail -f /var/log/messages
In another terminal run the loop
Then
1. plugin usb and keep it plugged in
2. remove battery, eject sd card.
3. put battery in
4. press vol- and power
5. after around 6 seconds, your terminal with the log will show something like "new high speed USB..."
6. press vol- to select recovery
7. press the power button
8. IMPORTANT- as soon as you see a new log entry (something like "USB disconnect"), pop in the sd card
check your loop terminal for adb. if it doesn't work, repeat at step 2
I went through all the troubleshooting steps in the "Update Available From Sprint" thread, making sure I was on v1.29.651.1, yada yada. Worked on this for a week and a half. Spoke with Sprint, spoke with HTC, no luck. Going to firmware update always reported NO UPDATE AVAILABLE.
Took the phone back to Best Buy and demanded an exchange. After receiving the new phone, went to try to firmware update, it showed that one was available. I asked for my old battery back since it was charged fully so that I could do the update. Put my old battery back in, went to update, NO UPDATE AVAILABLE!
Turns out it was my battery? Put the new one back in and the update was successful. I had scoured the net before but did not notice anyone with this particular issue. I

I've just bought Rockchip rk3066 based AllFine Fine10 tablet, and have trouble setting it up to work with adb on my Linux installation.
I presume problem is with udev rules, I use some giant package of udev rules but it does not contain rule for my tablet.
I have tried to manually define udev rule by inputing device ID listed by lsusb utility.
Quote:
lsub: Bus 002 Device 004: ID 2207:0010
Thus creating:

But still device is not recognized by adb.
is there any way to use the gps device from within a chrooted linux?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAndroid and Linux kernels started re-merging at version 3.3. People said that a short way down the road, android apps would be able to run natively in linux. the kernel is now version 3.6 and I've heard nothing more about running android apps in linux. people on these and other forums put a lot of great work into getting linux running on android devices. now with windows 8 coming out, the market will be full of both ARM and x86 based touch devices of all sizes and shapes. I for one would love to be able to boot up ubuntu on one of these devices, and use either traditional linux apps or android touch apps as my mood and situation dictate. so- any new word on when we will be able to run android apps in linux?
