Just had my new Desire (old one was faulty) & the weather app will not update. I've ticked the Update automatically button, in the weather settings, but when I go back to it, the settings default to not being ticked?? I didn't have this problem before. Also this new Desire seems very slow & sluggish, compared to my last one.

Here is my rebooting information:
Had a droid for 7 months and it was wonderful. Rebooting started one day after a few weeks of things getting slower, particularly messaging.
Rebooting continued randomly and the phone got generally slower, including internet speed.
Verizon sent replacement. Same rebooting.
Did a factory reset and didn't install any apps. Same rebooting.
Verizon sent another replacement. Same.
Removed SD card, same. Got new battery, same.
Verizon sent Eris. Used a different gmail account. Still rebooting.
My guess is that I'm getting refurbished phones with the same hardware issue that eventually developed in my new phone.

Sorry if this has been asked before -
With the ease of the unrevoked root method, I'm thinking about rooting my Incredible.
I'm by no means an advanced user (command line what?), but would definitely like to download some of the more popular root-only applications.
I have no intentions of messing with new roms/kernels...just wifi tethering, nandroid, etc.
What will happen when the official Froyo update comes out? Will I be able to upgrade without trouble?
I've looked at the sticky about reverting to stock in case something goes wrong, and it looks a little over my head. Will I have to do that to enjoy the official Froyo update?

I lost my Desire - gutted, but it's insured so hopefully I'll have a replacement soon. Anyway, I want to know if there's a way to get back the apps that I had installed on it - will the marketplace recognise it's me and offer me all the ones I had installed, or do I just have to remember which ones I installed (paid and free) and go and find them again? If so, is there a list recorded anywhere in my google account? In hindsight, a kinda nice thing about the apple app store is that you get a receipt for everything you install, so that's kind of useful.

Will people smarter than me be able to create an exact replica of the HTC rom that suitable for flashing onto phones that boot the recovery image, so it retains the recovery image? (and thus keeping open the possibility of moving a any future homebrew 2.2 images etc). ill people smarter than me be able to extract the radio firmware for updating?Whilst i'm reasonably happy with the current hacked firmwares, they are all quite buggy in places, and would love to pickup something that is IDENTICAL to stock, aside from giving me root and the ability to change again in the future...

My Desire started to refuse to install new applications or update old ones. They would download fine but then I'd get a message saying "Installation unsuccessful" but not give me any further information as to why that is. When using .apk files, I get "Application not installed" but no further information as well.
I have enough space on both the phone and the SD card and I am running a rooted 2.2 original ROM.
So I'm stuck and I need your help. Why does this happen and how can I find out?

I have screen 1 of my app which I want to transition smoothly into screen 2.
I want the transition to be smooth but I don't mind a slight pause before or after the transition. Before the transition I dump a lot of objects that are no longer needed from screen 1.
However, as luck would have it (!), the garbage collection almost always takes place during the transition causing the frame rate to drop and the transition looks terrible :(
Is there a way for me to either force the garbage collection to complete before the transition or delay until after the transition is finished? I have tried System.gc() in various places but it doesn't seem to help performance.

I returned my phone to stock, forgetting I uninstalled the phones launcher. The phone is an AT&T MB511 Motorola Flipout.
I want to install the ADW launcher, but theres no way for me to get to the setting menu, to enable USB debugging, to install the launcher.
I've seen posts that have instructions on how to get into safe mode on some phones. I'm not sure if my phone has that function.BTW the capacitive buttons and the keyboard do nothing.

It is possible to enable USB debug from computer? I need to delete some file from the internal memory that causes the problem. I can't connect through adb at all.
I'm trying to fix my secondary phone (Garminfone) that that loads into desktop, but force close launcher and everything else. The only thing that I can do is connect to the computer for file sharing with the phone.

I just picked up a Craig Netbook CLP 281a. at Riteaid yesterday. It's an updated version of the Craig Netbook CLP281 that came out last year which I also have. The newer model is faster. It has a bigger processor and more ram and is running Android 4.0.3 I used Z4root with my older model Craig Netbook which ran Android 2.2 and it worked fine. In the older version of Android 2.2 USB Debugging was in Settings/Applications/Developer/USB Debugging. That path no longer exists in the 4.0.3 version installed on the Craig Netbook. I've check Settings inside out over and over again and USB debugging is not anywhere to be found. So I can't use Z4root or SuperOneClick because they both require checking "USB Debugging" first before they can root the device.

I flashed a ROM this morning and it failed. One thing leading to the next I ended up with no OS on my phone and USB Debugging turned off. Now I want to turn on USB Debugging but the only menus I can access from the phone are "Recovery" and "Bootloader." Is there anyway to turn it on or am I screwed. Also, messing with all of these ROMs and rooting my phone so looking for link to a ROM that doesn't make any major changes to your phone. Or the original ROM that came with the phone would be good.

I am working on Mobile forensics. I need to access locked android phone system files without USB Debugging enable.
For accessing System files, I need to root android but it is locked with pattern lock or passcode (USB Debugging Disabled).
If i'll flash the mobile, it will change the filesystem which is not forensically sound.
if i'm able to clone the mobile (bit to bit copy) for further forensics.
