General :: USB Host And CD / DVD Drives?

Oct 25, 2012

Well I've already used the USB Host on my Tablets and phones for mouse, controllers, keyboards, Apparently we can also attach USB Hard Drives?

My question is can it also work for USB CD/DVD Drives? I don't have device right now setup with USB Host to try it out.

General :: Transferring Files To / From Laptop To / From MK808 Connected Drives

Dec 20, 2012

At the moment I'm using an mk 808 as media player with two usb drives attached (and xbmc).

I was planning on installing a samba server on the mk808 as well (sanba filesharing), but that seemed to be rather slow (probably because the connection to the router isn't that great). The other samba or ftp servers I tried weren't faster or couldn't read/write to the usb drives.

Of course just plugging in the usb drives in the laptop is a good option, but I was trying to avoid having to disconnect them from the mk808.

I have also been thinking about just connecting the mk808 to the laptop, but then it only shows the sdcard folder. Is it possible to mount the usb-drives in a subfolder of the sdcard and then being able to acces them through usb-connected mk808? I tried changing the mountpoint in vold.fstab, but that didn't seem to affect anything (still mounting to the same spot)

How to achieve this in jellybean? I've already tried changing stuf in /etc/vold.fstab,but this seems to have no effect (I changed /mnt/usb_storage/USB_DISK0 to /mnt/fusb_storage/USB_DISK0 to see if it affects anything, but nothing changed)

General :: Access Ext2/3 With USB Host?

Oct 27, 2013

It seems strange to me: ext2/3/4 is the native filesystem for the device - but with device as USB host I can't access. It seems only FAT and NTFS is available.

Is there any ways to make this possible?

Background: my Sat-Receiver records to an ext2/3 partition and I would like to transfer this smoothly to my nook.

Currently my solution is to use my laptop, there I need a ext2/3 driver and transfer via MPT. This is not very comfortable and slow.

Right now, I'm using an HTC EVO 4G LTE, running ICS. Now the source code is out, however, no one has yet to add USB host capabilities to their kernel, so I figure I might as well do it myself. I read on kernel development, and I have a surface level understanding, but I'm just interested in adding the USB host capabilities.

General :: Nexus Tab 7 - Charging And USB Host?

how the Nexus Tablet 7 charges? Not through the USB port, right?

I have a Transformer right now w/ the dock & 2 full sized usb ports on it. But I have been waiting for the Nexus Tab for months, because of the screen, processor, and price. however since it does not have a microSD, I would definitely need to be able to plug in my 500GB usb hdd into it. I would need a OTG cable, right? And it does not use the MicroUSB port to charge, right? Otherwise how could you use the usb and charge it at the same time?

I noticed after uploading a picture to Facebook, that it seems to have created a second "mobile uploads" Facebook album. It no doubt has to do with the fact that "Facebook for HTC Sense" and "Facebook for Android" is installed (that drives me nuts, but I can live with it).Unfortunately, now I see that my pictures are stored on both my phone's drive, and the SD card. The ones on my phone, I can't even seem to see with Astro.

General :: OTG / USB Host For MT65XX Phones - Especially For Jiayu G3 Possible?

Aug 20, 2013

I need the OTG/USB Host function on my Jiayu G3. Normally it doesn't support it..

So I did i lot of research and tests at "how i can enable it" and found some information:

1. some things point to it, like the libusbhost.so in /system/lib
2. all 5 pins of the usb slot are connected to a chip (this says nothing, i know)
3. i have found a pdf, which says that otg is possible on mt6575-77 (found on github)

So my question, how to get otg/usb host get enabled on Jiayu G3 oder m65xx phones?

General :: IPv6 Access From Host To Android Device?

Jan 1, 2012

I'm trying to connect from a host (PC or other) to a mobile cellular Android device on the Verizon/AT&T cellular network. This device uses only the 3G network and has its Wi-Fi turned off. The Android device has a listening socket and I need the remote host to be the connection initiator. As far as I know, Verizon/AT&T uses NAT traversal for mobile phones and assigns local IP addresses to them on the cellular network. This prevents me from initiating a connection to the device from a remote host.

With the usage of IPv6 assignments there shouldn't be any practical limitation (virtually unlimited) to the number of "real" IPs that can be assigned. Therefore my questions are:

1. Does the Verizon/AT&T cellular network support IPv6 and assigns IPv6 addresses to capable Android devices?

2. Does Android 2.2+ have enough support for IPv6 to implement such solution?

I am aware of other methods that can be used, such as C2DM, but it has some drawbacks (such as unknown response time) that prevent me from using it.
