General :: Spam SMS Containing Random Symbols?
Apr 8, 2012About four-five days ago I've began receiving text messages from the number "9999999999".(I'm aware it's not a real number) The texts always contain random symbols, no actual words. It's not a foreign language, it's honestly pure symbols. They had hit the 100mark as of yesterday. 100 text messages received from this nut. I receive them at all times of the day and my number is on the do not call list. (not sure if that applies to texting, but yeah..)
I did not reply to them until yesterday where I sent stop, end, #, etc in attempt to end the madness. I've also blocked the number "9999999999" using my phone providers websites. All my attempts to prevent the texts have failed. I still get them from the same 999 number.

While doing a google search that contained a small portion of a text I've received, THESE are the result. Broken webpages with the same symbols I receive just in a different order. I want two things to be honest... A method to stopping this and to know what the text is written in so maybe I could decode it and find out what each text says. I want them both equally the same.

Apr 22, 2014When I use Facebook or even Instagram, I noticed people use these special symbols in the comments or in their status update.
So finally, I decided to ask my friend how they did it.
They told me iPhone already comes with it in their keyboard.
Unfortunately, there's none for the Android built in.
So I did a search on the Google Play and found out there's tons apps that can do it.
I have Samsung S3 so I just wondering which app is the best one to install on my phone that is free?
General :: CM 10.3 Default Lockscreen Symbols?
Oct 15, 2013I just flashed the newest CyanogenMod 10.2-ROM (cm-10.2-20131014-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip) and accidentally changed one of the lockscreen symbols. Well actually I was just curious of what I can do with the new ROM.
However, after realising I had changed on symbol, I hit the reset button in the upper right corner. It did not restore the default, white symbols, but instead removed the remaining two default symbols, leaving me with the white padlock. Now my question: how do I restore the default symbols, without a factory reset?
Solution: you can change the symbol independently from the started app by pressing on it a few seconds while choosing its position on the lockscreen.

Jan 1, 2013 My problem, I have a Samsung Infuse 4g with gingerbread which I installed through Odin with all the info I gathered reading post here. When the problem occurred of no network access, the phone had the stock froyo firmware and that had been working very well until now.
I cannot get data at all. I can get on wifi, send calls and text messages. I tried changing the mobile network access points and nothing. One thing that I did notice after reading all your post, was that my IMEI is a bunch of symbols, diamonds, question marks, etc.. but is not numbers like it should. The issue started with the stock firmware (froyo) and continues with GB. Another thing is that I have never backup the system at all, I currently cannot find an EFS folder, even after installing RootExplorer.
I dont put all kinds of fancy utilities on the phone, the only one there is Golf app. This just happened out of nowhere. The phone is not even a year old which I got from ATT. You can say, send back to ATT for warranty! I am a Soldier stationed in Germany, because my account with ATT is suspended until my return to the US, the warranty does not cover the phone. In the end I am screwed anyway since I changed the firmware to GB and it is rooted. My questions are;
1. Is it possible that I dont have an EFS folder?
2. The lack of EFS folder constitutes to an unreadable IMEI?
3. What can I do to fix it? Is there a dummy guide to fix this?

May 9, 2010How do I input a '' sterling symbol? Phone default to dollars '$' which is great but we don't use the dollar in Norn Iron. Also Euro symbol would be handy. Looked through all the settings and can't find any way to change the default.

Nov 19, 2010I am a big smiley face, heart, music symbol person. Coming from my bb in the apps I used most like twitter, there were options for symbols. I cannot find not one keyboard that has hearts or music symbols included. Granted I havent tried any that you have to pay for, in fear that I'll be wasting my money. So could someone PLZ tell me if there is ANY keyboard out there that has hearts and music symbols?

Also, I constantly have a symbol of a satellite dish with flashing incoming network waves on my notification area even though I have turned off GPS and location services. I can't find anything about this symbol in the manual. anyone know what this is?

Nov 30, 2010I am new to Samsung Captivate. When my screen is locked i see a series of symbols in the upper right corner. I see the same symbols when I pull down the notification bar, right above where it says "No Notifications" if I don't have any. They are @@@^oe@@ I find it very weird. I have been looking and I can't figure out if I can change those symbols or just get rid of them.

Now, i am rooted. But I really dont think it's my rom as I hadn't noticed it before.
I think It might be Shapewriter Keyboard... but i am not sure. Before everyone tells me to use Swype... i do. But i like Shapewriter because of different languages.
Anyway, when i hold down the text field, i dont see "input method" anymore. I see this:

It's very weird. Everything works fine. Anyone have any ideas?
I also noticed it when an app force closed. I had the same type of symbols on the force close button.

Oct 27, 2010How do I stop some of the symbols from automatically backspacing one space when I am typing?
For example when I type, "I'll be there @ 3:30" it auto corrects to, "I'll be there@ 3:30."
It does this with the @, &, ", - , and I am sure others. I end up having to delete the symbol, add the space again, then type the symbol.
HOW CAN I STOP THIS FROM BACKSPACING ON ITS OWN!

Jul 21, 2010For some songs, it is perfect. But for some songs, either the names or the album names show up as something like?@#*&^@$.
This doesn't happen to songs in English, but in Korean (Not all songs though). I tried renaming, changing song info. My best guess is the locale/text setting.

Apr 22, 2013I have numerous music albums/artists/songs loaded onto my SD card that are not showing up in my music player. I have tried installing several different music players with the same results. The same music files are not showing up. I've tried, as has been suggested online, unmounting my SD card, removing it, putting it back in, then "refreshing" my player or having the player re-scan the music collection, nothing works so far. All the music files are .mp3's. Is there a certain way music files have to be titled, or something else that could be causing the problem? Is there a limit to the number of music files? I only have 1000 or so. I also tried clearing my Media Storage cache, no luck either. It's really a drag because my phone is my main source of music, especially when driving, and I just can't get to hear some of my favorite songs.

Dec 26, 2013So I have about 1,000 songs on my phone and earlier today I connected my phone to my computer so I can add more music. When I opened my music folder on my phone, it stopped at 349 songs and the rest of them showed up as a "hard drive" icon? What happened? When I disconnect my phone to see if my music was deleted or something, it wasn't. It's still there on my phone but just won't show up on my computer.

Apr 24, 2013Basically I downloaded the app ES File Explorer and I cut everything on the internal storage and pasted it in to my SD card. Everything worked perfectly except now I can't view any of my photos in the gallery, it seems as if they all just disappeared! I noticed something during the switch over from the internal to the SD card that a message about DCIM came up. Now apparently that has to do with photos and I just skipped it. I went into my SD card folder after and it only shows the pictures that have been screenshot and those that have been posted on Instagram. None of my pictures that have actually been taken with my camera are in my sd card folder neither in my internal storage.
Does this mean they have been deleted because I pressed skip during the transfer?
The phone I am using is the Motorola Razr I XT890.

some days ago when i connected my fone to pc most of the sd card folder are shown as shortcuts and when i double click on then windows shows a script error dialog box and the folder opens in a new window....
I can find the folders ok with file managers when i use them on my fone and also found that all those folders have a '.lnk' folder with the same folder name. so i deleted those .lnk files from m sd card using es file manager hoping that it'll fix the problm bt it got worse..
now i can't fin d those folders when connecting to pc.. not even as shortcuts...

Oct 25, 2012I recently built a nightly of cm7 with theme chooser included. It boots perfectly fine than when i go to see the apps everything shows except theme chooser. I also have theme manager. Than i tried installing it from a cm7 rom from a different device and it failed. Than i deleted it in system and replaced it and rebooted and it still didnt show.

May 11, 2013In the Facebook app for Android and on the mobile website, my liked pages aren't show correctly. I think it only shows likes from a huge while back, as any pages I've recently liked just don't show up. The weird part is that my newesty liked pages shows up on the button for likes on my profile, but once you click it, it's nowhere to be found. Another werid thing is that after pressing that, it says that I have "Other Likes: 11", but once I click that, it only shows 9.
Here is what I want you to try:
-Go to the facebook app, slide out the menu and click your own name to go to your profile.
-Slide to the side in the area where you have About, Photos, Friends and Places and slide until you see the Likes button.
-Check the pictures on that button and see if you can find them in after clicking the button
-See if the number of Other Likes match with the amount it shows.
I'm wondering if its just a bug for everyone or if I'm the only one having the problem. Maybe there is even another way to get to your liked pages??
General :: Only Some Apps Showing In Nova
Dec 10, 2013I have been using nova launcher for some days now, and love it. But, for some odd reason not all my apps are showing up. I just tried finding Google calender and is not in the app section. I go to Google playstor, find it there and it's showing as installed and I can open it, but I can't find the darn thing on my tablet. I have also had this with a couple of other apps.
