Android : Layout - Switch Between By Using A Set Of Buttons That Is At The Bottom Of The Screen
Feb 19, 2010My app has 5 different relative layouts that it can switch between by using a set of buttons that is at the bottom of the screen. 3 of the layouts contain only TextViews and ImageViews. The other 2 both have a ListView in them. On the 2 views that contain lists when the soft keyboard appears the buttons that are along the bottom move up to on top of the soft keyboard. But on the other 3 views the buttons get hidden by the keyboard. The buttons all have the attribute android:alignParentBottom="true" does anyone know why they'd be behaving differently when one of these two are the active layout at the time?

Jul 9, 2012I have a HTC HD2 which is running fine, but looking at Android, I reckon my phone could be even better.
Why do I use Windows Mobile ? Simple, I'm dependent on Outlook on my laptop. This is my work tool, and I cannot go without my email, tasks, calendar and contacts. No compromise. And I use pop3 with my own domain.
Now, the only thing that prevents me to switch over to Android is ActiveSync, or an equivalent, that would sync emails AND calendar AND contacts AND tasks.
As far as I know, that's not possible. I found various apps to sync calendar/contacts but NOT emails. Or vice versa.
Am I correct in this statement ?
And no, I do NOT want to sync over the cloud using Gmail (let alone an Exchange server which I can't afford). I want to keep it as it is : pop3 to and from Outlook, then sync via USB/Bluetooth.
If there's an app out there, bring it on !!!
General :: Switch App To SD Card?
Oct 24, 2012I am doing my first steps on Android today... I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace and I loaded it up with so many apps that I have a notification that tell me there is low space in application storage. I tried to switch apps to the SD card by the "manage application" menu. All apps on the phone show me a disabled button "Move to SD Card".
How can I enable that button ?

May 21, 2014I just bought an OTG cable with micro usb male. I tried looking for one with a galaxy tab male connector so that I could use it on my tab 2, but unfortunately I couldn't find one. So I decided to buy the otg cable AND a data cable of the tab. So I'm wondering what would happen if i cut them both open then connect them to each other. Would it work? They both ARE for data transfer anyways.

Nov 3, 2013I have Star S7589 and have installed the following rom (www.needrom.com/mobile/star-s7589-galaxy3/). However while the rom is awesome it seems that the menu is missing a key feature the ability to swtich the 3g sim vs 2g sim. Which is a key feature for any of these dual sim china mobiles.
I have tried everything in my power, changing the settings apk. Uncompiling and modifying the settings xml (I'm no dev/expert and working with limited knowledge) but to no avail.

Aug 14, 2010While developing for Android, I am unable to open more than one main.xml file in an Eclipse editor at a time.Each time I open one, it simply replaces the editor (tab) of the first main.xml with the new one, instead of opening a new tab - even if the contents of the existing tab were unsaved.Even stranger, I can open multiple main.xml files from different projects with no problems.This only happens when they're within the same project.

Jan 23, 2009Is it possible to build a GridView object in XML with 3 columns and 4 rows of Image buttons? It doesn't seem to have similar containment relationship like LinearLayout or RelativeLayout viewgroups.
I want to do this entirely in an xml layout file. When I put ImageButton xml tags inside a GridView xml body, The layout panel in eclipse is throwing an exception: UnsupportedOperationException:addView(View, LayoutParams) is not supported in AdapterView.

Dec 5, 2010I have a Plantronics headset, and a Sony car stereo (w/ BT). When I'm in the car, I prefer to use Bluetooth over the stereo, so I'm looking for a quicker way to swap between the two devices without having to go into settings.
Auto-switching would be preferable, but a widget that can just bring up all device so I can select which one I'd rather use, would work, too.
General :: Auto Switch From AUX To BT While Streaming Music
Jul 12, 2012Until recently, I had a BB Storm2. When I would stream Pandora (via the aux port and headphone jack) while driving and received a call, Pandora would pause and the call would be routed to my Jawbone BT.
Now I have an S3 (and loving it!) with ICS. Although Pandora will pause, the audio seems to remain routed through the aux headset and not to the BT headset.
I can hear the call ring notification via the BT headset, but once the call is answered, there is no apparent BT functionality.
I've tried to search through the settings for phone, BlueTooth and Pandora and have found nothing that seems to work.

Nov 29, 2013In January, I acquired a Nexus 7, and in July, I met my boyfriend. Yesterday, I suggested that we put a user account for him on the tablet, so that he could have quicker access to his own email, writing and so forth. This we accordingly did, and he has been having great fun installing apps for chess and ukelele playing, as well as working on his writing. However, this means that the lock screen is back. The lock screen irritates the b*ggery out of me, and I disabled it as fast as I could when I originally bought the tablet. The way you are meant to switch accounts, however, involves bringing up the lock screen every time, and it also means the lock screen appears whenever the tablet is wakened from sleep. I tried disabling the lock screen, but then we couldn't switch user accounts.
So far, the best solution I've found is to have a desktop widget for the No Lock app, so that I can have the lock screen disabled during the day, when I'm the only one using the tablet, and then put it back on when my boyfriend is around and we're both using the tablet. This will probably be fairly manageable, and I realise that I'm whingeing about a few seconds of screen-swiping here and there, but what would be really lovely would be if we could just have a widget we could press on our home screens that allowed us to switch user accounts, without all this faffing around with lock screens. I've been hunting through Google Play apps, and so far all I've encountered is one which sounds thoroughly dodgy and may not even do what I want.

Sep 20, 2012I seem to have a weird problem on my HTC Sensation. I have been noticing that when the phone switches from Wifi to 'H', the mobile data stops working. I can see the signal bars so no problems with making calls, text etc. I have tried putting phone into airplane more, resetting mobile data and a couple of apps that reset the mobile data stack. None of that has worked. The only way I have made it work is by restarting the phone - quite frustrating. The mobile data then starts working. It has only happened when 'H' is displayed as the mobile data.
