Sep 21, 2010I am trying to develop an android application which will be able to record a video and send it in real time to a remote computer. The computer then will play it live. I have managed to establish a connection between the android and the computer, and to record a video on the android phone. My problem is, how will I be able to send this video to the computer? Does anyone have an idea?

Sep 27, 2010The problem I have is in the implementation of a video streaming application. What I need to do is to stream live what I record with the androids' camera, to a remote computer. I managed to establish a connection between the mobile phone and the computer, but I do not know how to send the video.I searched through forums, and I found out that in order to send a streaming video you have you use the ParcelFileDescriptor. So I created an instance of MediaRecorder with encoding H263 and .mp4 file format, I created a Socket and then I created a new ParcelFileDescriptor connecting it with the socket. If that is correct then the android application that I created is functional.What I don't know now is what to do at the side of the computer in order to receive and view the streaming video. I tried using JMF, but it doesn't support .mp4 video files. What do you suggest me to do? Or where to look in order to find a solution?

Nov 18, 2008I transfer some pics from my computer to my g1. I only had about 5 pictures total and then a few days later they all seemed to disappear except for one. Dec 24, 2009I recently purchased a Motorola Droid and I have to say that, while I am not easily impressed by anything, I am quite impressed with it. It is my first Android-based phone, so I am still learning the ropes. My question is this: When I take a video with my Droid, how do I transfer it to my computer? I tried emailing the video, but no attachments went thru. Is there a way to export it via USB, etc.? I know they can be sent straight to youtube if there is wifi available, but I want to send it to the computer for viewing, forwarding, burning to dvd, etc. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Aug 15, 2010I am on the brink of buying my first Android phone (HTC Desire) and have just stumbled across some postings about Vodafone's restrictions on streaming audio and video. I have read a few articles on this now, but I really don't understand exactly what the blocks apply to. It seems to apply to "RTSP" streaming, but I'm not clear about what this is and whether this just applies to live streaming, or also to recorded video such as clips on the BBC News site.Does this apply only to Vodafone, or also to other networks? I was thinking of getting a new contract with Vodafone because the coverage with my current provider Orange in my area is very poor, and because Vodafone have the best price for the Desire. However if this streaming problem applies to all video on Vodafone, I may well pay a little more and go for O2. I don't know whether this would make any difference, but I will be going for an unbranded and unlocked phone through CPW.

Media :: Streaming Video From Your HTPC / Homepipe - ITunes?
Nov 11, 2010If you have an HTPC (home theater pc) you can use "Orb". The Orb live app doesn't work on the Evo yet, but I can watch all my shows using the Orb mobile website and set the stream to flash. Seems to cut out if the signal is switching between 3g and 4g (like on the road). Also, if you use your phone to initiate a torrent on your HTPC, you can't watch it until you log into your HTPC with "logmein" or something similar and click *refresh* on the orb server app. Also, doesn't stream WMC (windows media center) recordings in flash format (any know how to fix?).
For pictures and music, "Pogoplug" is what I use. It's a user friendly NAS (network attached storage) with a web interface. Just buy the adapter and use an old usb hard drive and you have an NAS that you can use from any internet capable device. Pogoplug android app is great! Warning: Do not use pogoplug for movies! It takes 6 hours to convert a 2 hour movie into a stream-ready-movie. That means once your torrent is downloaded, you can't watch it till blueray is obsolete.
Anyone try other solutions? Homepipe? iTunes?

Mar 17, 2014I have observed that the Smartphones (particularly Android) do not perform as well as the computers when performance is compared on GPRS / EDGE.
I have tested streaming videos on while on GPRS / EDGE (not 3G or 4G) and observed that the smartphone gives up saying connection problem. When I stream the same videos with the same GPRS / EDGE connection through a USB Dongle on a computer(with same SIM Card inserted which was used for testing on Smartphone), the Computer performs better and is able to stream the Videos.
I request the experts to explain why this happens. The SIM and its location are the same and the speed received from it is also the same. Then why does the computer able to play it while the smartphone gives up saying connection problem.
I would like to clarify here that the GPRS / EDGE works alright on surfing websites etc. while the problem is only in streaming. I have tested this on various phones of Samsung / HTC / Motorola so the question of a particular phone having some problem does not arise.
