I have been desperately attempting to keep Google Maps from writing down every place I go!
I have checked all the "don't share my location" type boxes. This is deeper than that.

Any way to STOP google maps from running, unless I specifically open the app myself?

I want a map - How do you get the thing to *NOT* tilt when you go to navigation? Can't believe there isn't a built in option (like on Earth) on a settings menu.
SGIII, all latest updates. No, the two finger drag does nothing when in navigation other than move the map.
Maybe only way is to go BACK a version of maps and get rid of it?
How do I stop visited web addresses appearing when I start typing an address into the browser?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my new HTC hero. Everything's fine, been installing apps like crazy, sorted out videos, but not for the satnav.. For some reason, when I go on Google Maps, it minimizes right out of it to the home screen where my clock is.
If I hold the house button, it's still open, and if I go back to it again, it will just minimize again after a short while. I got it to stay open once, but now it's just messed up
Any fixes or alternative Sat Navs I can use?
Google maps now offers a way to "share a place" with what appears to be a predefined list of sources. When users search for a place on Google Maps, whether it's a specific address, cross-street, or restaurant name, there's a new button called "share this place" that posts the location info to Google Buzz, Facebook, Twitter, or via e-mail or SMS. I would like to either have my application included in this list or determine how to obtain the lat/lon of that selected location.

I'm going through my phone trying to free up some space. I use Uninstaller Pro to delete apps. Today I noticed that Google Maps is listed four times in Uninstaller Pro. Each one has the same version number and the same download date. I don't want to uninstall the program completely, but if it has somehow installed itself three extra times, I'd like to remove the copies. Root Explorer only lists the .apk one time Has anyone else had this problem or know of a reason why there would be four copies of Google Maps listed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an application which is playing audio.I have some customers that use this application while driving and who also use the Google Maps application to get directions to the places where they are driving.They have asked me to change my application to pause my audio while the Google Maps application is giving them audio navigation instructions. I am trying to find out if I can register a Broadcast Receiver to let me know when the Google Maps application is giving audio navigation instructions, or if there is a way to detect when any other application has started or stopped playing audio.It seems that this type of functionality would be beneficial for Google Maps and for any type of application which is playing media, so I am hoping that Google Maps is broadcasting events when it starts and stops giving audio navigation instructions, or that there is a generic way to discover when overlapping audio sources are trying to play.

All my google applications like Gmail, Maps, Play,Google Plus are working fine in WIFI.But when i try to refresh or update these application thro Airtel 3g,i am getting No Connection Error.

I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!
Can you put a lock on the photo album or on the sms folder?

Short of freezing and unfreezing maps, can it be stopped? I have autostarts and Gemini app manager both attempting to keep maps from running, and it has reduced it drastically. But it still starts.
How to remove these associations? I only want maps to run if I ask it to, never any other time.
Is there any way to measure distance in the new Google Maps app or use any "Labs" for that matter?

I've read online that Google maps has a feature that allows for automatic screen dimming when using Google maps. However, I can't find the setting. Has it been removed?
If it has been removed, is there an app that will do it?
How come the i/phone has Google maps that show traffic (red/orange/green) But on the Droid 4, the standard google maps app does not have this traffic (sigalert) capability? Is it restricted to iphones only? I believe it is the same Google Maps app.

Is there some way to force Google Maps to actually use Mock Locations?. I have mock locations turned on, on my phone and I use a seperate GPS receiver. It works in several maps, but the second I activate navigation for Google Maps I get an annoying popup telling me to activate GPS. I just want that popup to go away but cant.

I copied the original apk from my phone, used apkmultitool to decompile it, chanched the files an recompiled it (using option 11: system apk) after recompiling, the file size ist about 1Mb different to the original.
When i now place it on the sd card and try to install, i get message that it wasn't installed.
Do i have to deinstall the "old" app?
Do i make sth wrong?
