However, I just can't figure out how to do this using the Google Maps app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Sure, I can use use a browser to do this, but I want to do it inside the Google Maps app for Android.

Apr 17, 2013I'm using the latest version of Google Maps on JB 4.2.2 [Nexus 4]..I noticed that I cannot edit the names of my locations in "My Places" in the phone app. So I used Google Bookmarks (google.com/bookmarks) from my PC to edit/rename My Places. However, the names do not sync or carry through to the Google Maps app on the phone. The names in the app are still the generic names, coordinates or street names.
Is there any way to change the names of My Places and get them to sync with the phone app? Really baffling!

I copied the original apk from my phone, used apkmultitool to decompile it, chanched the files an recompiled it (using option 11: system apk) after recompiling, the file size ist about 1Mb different to the original.
When i now place it on the sd card and try to install, i get message that it wasn't installed.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both Google Maps and Instagram, I restarted my device too. But it doesnt solve the problem.
I tried checking /system/framework/com.google.android.maps.jar , I thought I lost this file but the file is there..
This is a rare problem and I only found 2 search results on Google about this problem, and both were found on XDA forum. One had his problem solved by placing this .jar file there. The other one tried placing the .jar file but no luck.
It's bothering me. Because I think it will affect other application that uses google maps. But I'm not sure. And I don't want to reinstall the whole ROM because I have partitioned my SD card, put many stuff in it, I dont want to start it all over just because of this small problem.

Right now it's just looking down and with no angle/tilt on the arrow and the orientation stays "north up" all the time. It used to do this.

I have checked it under My apps, but there is no Automatic update checkbox as for other programs I downloaded from the market. Is there a way to disable this automatic update for Google Maps? I would be great, if I could choose when it should be updated, because its not funny, when my 3G limit is exceeded with Google Maps updates.

All of them work perfect but the locations sent via apps ( facebook for example) they show Bing maps not Google ones. I prefer gmaps because for my country they show every single street and building. Oct 15, 2013When using Google maps, if I set a destination and navigate to it, the ma just sits there and doesn't move when I drive off, nor does my location on it.
However if I stay on Google maps, and drive about my position is updated correctly but obviously I can't navigate that way.
I tried mapquest and that works with no problem as an alternative, but what the he'll it's wrong with maps?
