View 41 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S, and Google Maps came installed on the phone. Now if I enter Android Market, then Google Maps is automatically updated, if there is an update. I have checked it under My apps, but there is no Automatic update checkbox as for other programs I downloaded from the market. Is there a way to disable this automatic update for Google Maps? I would be great, if I could choose when it should be updated, because its not funny, when my 3G limit is exceeded with Google Maps updates.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI am so upset because AT&T forced 4.3 update on my phone. For a month constantly ignored then yesterday message displayed could no longer be postponed. Now the blue Navigation icon is missing & even when I do uninstall google maps update doesn't revert to 6.0. Is that because 4.3 won't allow it to and if so is there a work around. My phone was already set up to allow manual updates only which is how I kept blue navigation for so long & never updated maps. but when 4.3 was forced it looks as it removed blue navigation app.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone hasn't been able to locate a GPS signal when using Google Navigation/Maps for about the past five days. I only really noticed this problem last Thursday... which seems about the same time I received the latest update. The timing would indicate the two are related?
The GPS is turned on, and the satellite icon displays on the toolbar. The phone displays "Searching for GPS" at the bottom. I'm running Locale, and it continues to recognize conditions based on location data... so it would seem the GPS is still working for that, at least.
I'm trying to install the latest maps update and it seems stuck on "starting download". It's gone on way beyond the time needed for the previous download/upgrade.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone and the battery might still be stabilizing, and of course I'm fiddling with it a lot and I've installed heaps of apps, but I can't quite work out something. I unplugged my phone at midnight and this morning found my phone at 70% charge. I also got a message from my provider that I'd used up all my data. I checked and found that my phone had used up (sent+received) 30MB overnight. Google Maps was the biggest culprit - it received 700K but it sent almost 8MB. This is while the phone was sitting on my bedside table! And of course, as I'm driving to work (not using the phone at all), Google Maps was transmitting my location information back to it's servers so that the traffic flow is updated on their systems.
That's cool, but there doesn't appear to be any way to disable or turn off this in GM's configuration, or even exit the app. It seems that having My Location services enabled gives Google Maps (and I'm sure other apps like weather, gmail, Contacts, etc.) free reign to send and transmit data all the time. I don't want to have to disable My Location services completely; I want finer control over things on a per-app basis. Having Google Maps transmit 8MB overnight might not seem like a lot, but when the phone is idle, it disables wireless (to save battery) and thus all data is going through 2G/3G and I'm incurring data charges.
I'm trying to create a dynamic ItemizedOverylay (please see the code below) on Google Maps (Android 2.1) on a Nexus One. In my Activity (that extends MapActivity) I'm creating a data thread that is receiving data from the network. A 'handler' is used to communicate the data from the receiving thread to map activity. This data contains the locations (lat, lon) of the markers that I want to overlay on my map. The location of each marker is dynamic (i.e., it changes every time I receive new data from the network.) refreshItems(ArrayList<OverlayItem> newItems) method in invoked inside the handleMessage() of the handler. There are around 11 markers in the ArrayList that is passed to refreshItems
I can see the markers overlayed on the map. However, I've two issues:.....................
Gogole maps update 4.4.0. Doesn't seem too different yet.
View 18 Replies View RelatedJust wandered into the market and found an update for Google Maps, to 4.7. Hadn't heard anything about an update, and there's nothing that says what's new. Anyone know?

I just did the update yesterday on my EVO and now google maps is completely gone. I've tried rebooting but that hasn't helped me either. Anyone else having this issue or know what I can do to fix it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo AppBrain sync tells me there's an update for Google Maps available. When I go into the market there are a lot of comments about the update breaking the app, but no real details. Anyone have experience with the latest update? I'm putting off updating till I know more.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI noticed an update for Google Maps to 3.2.1. Being on the Hero, GM is pre-loaded and I don't know how to update it to the new version (since it's not listed in my Market downloaded, being that it was pre-loaded on the phone).Does it automatically do it, or do I have to uninstall and grab the new version from the Market? I went into the settings, but there was nothing there to check for updates, just 'Latitude' and the other standard options.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to get Google Maps to update to 4.50.The update downloads fine, but then just says installation unsuccessful.Anyone got any ideas how to get this app updated?Could it be because the phone is rooted?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI received the alert to update Google Maps to 4.2, but everytime I try to install the update, I keep getting Update Unsuccessful (tried 5 times with resetting after each installation attempt). What could be the problem? Do I need to remove 4.1.1 first? I don't undertstand why I would as all other updates automatically replace the old/existing file. I emailed the developer, but no response has been received. Suggestions/fixes are welcome. And I'm still suffering from disappearing text conversations with stock messenging. I tried to download Handcent, and it wouldn't work. Oh well.

View 49 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible just popped up with an update to Google Maps! We now have pinch to zooom! I kinda figured something like this would happen since the eris 2.1 update just came out with pinch to zoom maps. Any1 having issues with it tho? Mine seems to be acting kinda funky...
View 24 Replies View RelatedI think I've found quite a serious problem with the Google maps for Android update that just came out late last week.I have a Latitude account, but I havent signed it in on this phone as I don't want battery and data being wasted updating my location, plus most of the time the whole location tracker thing is a bit Big Brother for me anyway. But after the update, one of my friends warned me that i had appeared on Latitude, and it turns out that the update signed me in there and set itself to automatically update my location. If this is happening to others, this represents a serious lapse at Google - it should be up to me to switch on the service, it should not automatically sign in - let alone automatically update my location! This phone has never prompted me to switch it on, and that is not acceptable. My location is a private matter and my battery life and data are precious, goddamnit.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running bb 0.4, chevy 1.2LV, black glass theme on my droid. Is anybody else having a problem installing the google maps update? I tried yesterday and got an error that I think said something about a problem w/ the service pack.I tried probably 5x last night to install it from the market but didn't have any luck. Today I tried twice and again I get an installation error, however it doesn't say what the error is specifically. It takes about 4 minutes to download then when it gets to installation it says "installation unsuccessful"

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have app brain installed on my eris and it keeps telling me that google maps has an update but when I click it to update it nothing happens. Is anyone else having this problem? or is there really an update and i just cant do it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWith GPS, location, etc. activated, the app doesn't update itself as I move around. My friend's iphone's GPS was able to detect him every time he turned onto an intersection. Mine stayed where it was when I first opened the app.
View 7 Replies View RelatedNavigation will work fine initially, but the next time I go to use and I enter in a destination, it just stays on the "calculating route" (or whatever it says) screen. I have to go into Applications - Maps and clear the data there, then restart and it works fine then, but it's a bit of a ball ache because that clears the list of previous destinations. Anyone else having the same problem? It was fine before the update, but I don't know if it's a Froyo issue or an issue with the map update as I updated them both on the same day.

Last week I got and update alert for Google Maps. I tried to install it and got a "Install error" "Package file not signed correctly".
What's strange about it is, I already had the version it wanted me to install. Version 3.1.2. It also doesn't show up in aTrackdog but does show in apps drawer and works fine. The market shows that I don't have it installed. All other Google apps are working and show where they should. This started before the C&D order.
My phone has been unsuccessfully trying to download the update for googlemaps.I've tried stopping, and restarting but it still won't work.Is anyone else having this problem? And is there a way to fix it?
