General :: SetXperia App - Set Up Undervolt To Manage Battery Life Of Phone
Feb 4, 2012
I'm really having a hard time understanding about the undervolt in SetXperia application. They say it will improve the battery life (not battery lifespan) of my phone but the problem is... I don't know how to set up the undervolt to manage the battery life of my phone.
I'm using Xperia Neo V.

I'm a very happy KaosFroyo 37 user, but I have some misc questions.(sorry, this item is a sort of double-post) Do any of these lockscreen widgets work with Froyo? When I was running Android 1.5 and 2.1, I would keep my screen pattern-locked most of the time, since it lives in my pants' pocket and I want to avoid it activating accidentally. Then when I get into the car and place my phone in a cup holder, I would unlock the phone once and click a widget which would leave it unlocked (for easy access to GPS, etc.) for the duration of my ride, when I would lock the phone again and put it back in my pocket. Now with Android 2.2 I can't do this with the lock pattern, because apparently the security mechanisms don't permit it; one must re-enter the lock pattern several times, which is very time-consuming. Is there another approach for 2.2 users? I don't need very strong security, just want to avoid accidental phone calls and other accidental activations.
While (Android's) Manage Applications worked for me initially, now it only works the first time after a reboot. I.e., I can run it once, but on any subsequent attempts it will hang while attempting to populate its app list. As workaround I purchased Quick App Clean Cache, which is nice in its own right, but it would still be nicer not to have this problem. Also I'm not 100% convinced that Quick App Clean Cache is always giving me the complete set of options for an app, e.g. to move it to an SD card. Have others encountered this problem? I could probably generate a logcat for debugging purposes.
Most apps will let you move them to the SD card in KaosFroyo 37, even though I haven't checked the CyanogenMod option to permit these.I guess that there are a few more apps which might copy more completely to the SD card if I used this option. Can anyone shed any light on this option and whether it's saves any memory, and whether it induces any instability?I'm always careful not to copy widgets to the SD card.Battery life is a continued mystery; clearly much worse than before I rooted. Apparently the CPU tweaker isn't recommended (I guess it uses too much battery life trying to figure out whether it needs to adjust the CPU speed), and the battery life tweaker on the XDA forum described doesn't provide a very clear strategy. What do folks recommend? [ Correction: I had read a pretty incoherent writeup somewhere on XDA, but now see Collin_ph Battery Tweak RC1 for Cyanogen / Darch Froyo roms (possibly others) - xda-developers which is well-written. I will try this approach, but welcome your experiences.

I rooted today (unrevoked 3 + forever) and I did a nandroid backup (thank god) and titanium backup. I tried to flash the undervolt (0.5) and overclocked (0.1, #1) hydra kernals on the phone but it gets stuck at the boot up screens. Am I doing something wrong? I put the zip on the root of my SD card and used Clockwork to flash the zip file. Should I just upload the HTC .32 kernal?

i have a G1 and i dont know if its just my phone or battery or what. But the life is terrible, i have everything off, no brightness, timeout to 30s, all the wifi/bluetooth/etc is off. Yet after about an hour of takign it off a full charge it drops to 70%, i can barely make it 4-5 hours in a day when its not even being used! Seeing that i want to upgrade anyway, so i can get the newer operating systems and better phone hardware, what phones right now have the best battery operating life? I hardly use the phone for its data features. I basically use the phone as a phone,a decent amount of txt messaging, ill use wifi here and there, and ill manually sync some calendar items. Im on T-mobile, whatre youre phone suggestions? Im trying to keep them at $300 or lower.

Is this happening to anyone else? sucks man...This is my second handset was flawless until this most recent update. After my phone comes off from a full charge it will die after 4 hours, no exaggeration! I have already tried closing the unwanted "syncing apps" still no good. What the heck should I do?

I know this phone isn't know for blinding speed (at least running it stock), but lately it's having trouble keeping up with text input from the keyboard. Is this normal? I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? Because I am literally looking at the phone and watching the percentage go up... up 6 percent in the last hour. lol anyone else getting this?

I have had this phone for a little over 4 days now and it is by far the best smart phone on battery life that I have ever owned. Yesterday was the best day yet, I pulled the phone off the charger at 7am yesterday and forgot to put it back on the charger before I crashed out last night. This morn I was woken up to its alarm clock, got ready, headed out to work and the last 20% warning ding'd at 6:45 this morning. My use through out the day consisted of a few short phone calls, the wifi was on all day, I played an hours worth of home run derby, I watched a few you tube videos, surfed a little net, and I have all my accounts synced up to the Motorola widgets (facebook, myspace, yahoo, hotmail, google, and twitter). I also have a live wallpaper running, lots of widgets on my home screens, and I am running the automatic battery profile ( default factory setting). Oh and my phone service is not that great at my house. In the end I my battery never hit the "red" and was a little over 24 hours of battery life before I put it on the charger. I have read threads about poor battery performance and I cant imagine why my battery performance is so good, and with such a huge screen. With that amount of use, I would only get about 12 hours of battery life from my Droid 1.

I have a note 3 mediatek device (mtk6582) and when i play games or just using it for more than 30-40 min. It gets really hot, i mean really hott..{90c}....(especially when i'm playing games). And I think it may be beacause of GPU (mali 400) but I cant find a way to undervolt it... I think I must have custom kernel to do that...so any other method to undervolt the gpu.
But I also think that it could be the battery that is not the best quality...and if the battery is not that good can this heat up the cpu. (or generally the motherboard).

like many of you I updated to 2.0.1 with promises of better battery life. After one full day of use I can see now that my battery life isn't improved as much as the phone allocates battery usage stats to different areas other than display. Yesterday my battery actually died BEFORE it usually does (this is post update mind you) and the usage stats told me that I used it mostly on Phone signal (keeping my phone service active when im in the subway). So it said to turn off the phone signal when you're in an area that can't get a signal to save battery life. Well..sounds like a plan, right? What about for those of us that use a bluetooth headset for music? I can't turn off my phone service without also turning off my bluetooth via "Airplane Mode." Does anyone know of a way to turn one off without the other. My motorola Q could do it...please tell me my big bad droid can do it too...

Sounds like the Eris has a feature to disable 3G, which saves tons of battery life. Anybody know if the Incredible will have the same feature? Seems to involve disabling a "mobile network" setting:

Just wondering if underclocking my Incredible will save battery life during the day-I can't use my phone much at work-maybe when I go somewhere to pee or grab something to eat-that is about it. I wouldn't care about speed during the day..say if I underclock it to like 400 MHZ, would that save a lot of battery life? I would set it to normal once I was done with work.

I am curious to see if anyone has had improved battery life by disabling htc sense and running stock android 2.1. Since I purchased my evo I have been running sense and just recently disabled it from running by default and set it to run the original home by default. I have seen a little bit of battery improvement but not enough to come to any good conclusion just yet. To me sense makes the phone a lot better mostly because of the widgets so I'll end up switching it back after a while but I was just curious to see if there would be any major difference as far as battery life goes.

I'd like to know the opinions various Galaxy S users have about this phone's battery life and their usage profile. I'd appreciate if you can provide me the following information:
1/ How long does the battery charge last between charges?
2/ What is your approximate phone usage profile during a day?
(Eg. 2hrs of browsing over wifi, 1 hour of browsing over 3G, 1 hour of video playback, 2 hours of audio playback/streaming while browsing etc.)
3/ Other useful information (Eg. signal conditions - poor 2G/3G coverage around my office)

This is the first time I've rooted a phone, and i picked the Kaos Froyo V38 as the rom, but I've noticed since i did all of this my battery has been far far worse than what it was un-rooted. Today, for example i had my phone off the charger and on vibrate (with gps, mobile network off) and i was down to under 15% in under 5 hours. This is so much worse. Is it because i'm now running 2.2? What can i do to help this besides wiping the battery data (in the recovery menu)? I'm not really good with all of this yet, so some suggestions would be wonderful.

I am currently trying to track one down from t-mobile as there has been many shortages lately but, anyway i was told this was because of the screens being changed to SLCD ones from sony. I know that sony do quality products and that but, will there be much difference e.g battery life wise, representing color etc. compared to the AMOLED screens.

I am trying to maximize the battery life of my phone. I keep coming across an app refereed to as AUTOKILLER?
Just what is this app, and what are the benefits? If I am running SetCPU, do I need to run both? Do I need Advanced Task Killer too?
(FYI, I am running Cyanogen Tazz 1.0, and besided not having the trackball light up, I am loving it. I just want to get optimized battery life)

I currently have the Samsung Galaxy (I7500). I have it for a year+ now. A couple of months ago I wanted to buy the Desire, but I decided its too early for an upgrade (big mistake). It's very hard for me to keep waiting for the perfect device since I hate my galaxy so much. So my question is which phone would you recommend?
IPhone 4 no way ofcourse, Samsung Galaxy S no way cause Samsung really screwed things up with the original galaxy (and it has no Flash), which leaves me with HTC Desire HD or Desire Z. The DHD has an extremely weak battery, and I want my next phone to last a day (moderate user). So, is the Desire Z worth the money? The things that bother me with the Desire Z are:
1. Weight - It weigh 180 grams! Thats sick, way too much. (the Desire is about 135, which isn't light, but not heavy either)
2. Battery life - I'm not sure how long does it last under moderate usage.
3. Size - its quite big, and its especially because of the keyboard, which I don't really need / care about. So, Whats your opinion?

Well, I'm gonna have to return it. Don't worry, I'll still be getting another My battery life hasn't been as great as everybody mentioned, my phone suffers from random reboots (nothing helped, i tried it all), and now I noticed my camera has 4 stuck pixels. Not so bad in Camera mode, but a lot more prominent in Camcorder mode. So how should I do it? I purchased it in store at a VZW. So am I restricted just to that, or can I call VZW? Which route would be better? Anything I should know about beforehand?

just always wondered why booting into recovery (any recovery, CM, EE whatever) completely annihilates battery life. This has been true for both android phones i've owned. Just now I booted into CM recovery just to check something, i did no flashing, deleting or anything. I was in it for maybe 10 seconds before i restarted my phone and i went from 46% battery to 12%. This is fairly typical whenever i use recovery..

I just got a new Droid Bionic last week. My brother got one about a week before me as well. I feel like his battery last so much longer than mine. What can I do to extend my battery life. I feel like he uses his just as much as me, but I feel like his last much longer. My first Bionic was defective and wouldn't charge past 40% so I returned it, and I feel like this one doesn't last as long as I want.
