I have messed up big time! I rooted my phone perfectly fine and everything. But when I tried to install a new ICS rom and rebooted, my phone showed the samsung logo followed by a screeching frequency noise, followed by a restart. This process continues forever. I really hope I didn't break my phone.. I can access the CWM btw.

I recently just flashed my Samsung galaxy s2 t989 (tmobile) to ICS from the ported version. Now I'm wondering about custom Rom from this website.
1. Can I use any custom rom? Or does it have to be for my specific phone?
2. All galaxy s2 custom rom threads say it for samsung galaxy s2 but doesn't it matter if im using a samsung galaxy s2 t989? Just it just have to be the general device?
3. Could I have a link to where they post custom rom for my device?
I am stuck in boot screen in Samsung Galaxy note 3 after rooting with three lines of text on top saying

I enjoy the stock messaging app because it is simple and I assume resource friendly (I like efficiency in my electronics), but I'm having a hard time making a custom message notification when I receive a text message that is forwarded from my gmail using phone[url]... It shows up as just *myemail*[url]... so when I add as a contact it adds the email and I have the option to customize the tones for messaging but it doesn't work, I assume because there is no phone #. I even tried to find the number that is used to forward an email through sms and all I got from t-mobile was 500, which didn't work either.
I know that non-stock messaging apps like go sms and handcent are capable of doing this easily but I'm weary of moving from stock due to other messaging apps possibly using more resources, but any other apps . get a notification using stock. What I also like about stock messaging btw is the feature where if you get a text message a circle with a message icon appears on your screen and you can just swipe that to unlock and go directly to your thread with that person, if there were other good apps that did that and the notification that would be great.

I used Rom Manager on my Samsung galaxy Ace to backup my rom but it instantly shut down, now it will not boot up at all and i can't even get into recovery mode?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a bricked Samsung Galaxy S2 and have been doing some research on how to fix this. There is a lot of info online, but I don't understand most of it as it is too technical and I need having it translated into layman's terms!
Context:
- Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100)
- Unlocked
- Purchased from Kogan 2 years ago (no longer under warranty)
- Appears to be Polish stock based on the packaging and manual
- I am in Australia
Problem:
- Phone is stuck in boot loop, unable to get past the intro flash screen that says Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I19100.
- It keeps resetting itself and going back to flash screen infinitely. I need to remove the battery in order for it to stop doing that.
- I'm unable to get into the mode that would allow me to do a factory reset, however I am able to get into download mode.
What I think I need to do, but need verifying:
- Download Odin onto my PC. (I think Odin is software that allows me to access the core of the phone via my PC, is this correct?)
- Download the correct version of the operating system. From what I can gather, there are different versions depending upon which network you are with. Because my phone is unlocked, I need to get an unlocked version but I'm not sure whether I should get one designed for Australia or for Poland (or whether it matters)?
- Connect PC and phone via USB cable
- Turn on Odin
- Somehow use Odin to reinstall O/S on my phone
Questions:
- Are the steps above correct or am I missing something?
- Does it matter which version of Odin I install or can I just do a google search for Odin downloads?
- Where do I find the file I need to reinstall the O/S?
- Where can I find instructions on how to use Odin once I have the correct file to install?
i was trying to update my SGS2 to ICS by myself using Odin, but something went wrong and now i can not get the phone start at all . and i get an icon for a phone and a PC and a warring triangle to show me that the connection is lost
View 6 Replies View Relatedi bought a white Samsung galaxy tab 4 7.0 8gb white from Canada and i decided to turn ART on so i did and the tab was stuck on the boot animation for over 30 minutes. So i went into recovery and deleted cache and data. It booted up fine and i was relieved. Before i did anything on it i turned on ART again and it boot looped again, stuck at the boot animation. This happens every time i turn ART on this tablet. No i am not rooted and i don't have any custom ROM, kernels, or recoveries on this tablet. try turning on ART on their galaxy tab 4 7.0 and see if ART works?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI dropped my Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G from a height of about 3 feet onto a marble floor. The battery popped out, but there is no physical damage as far as I can see. The phone automatically went into a reboot loop, by which I mean it flashes the "samsung" logo again and again. It doesn't turn on or off. After removing the battery and sim card several times to no avail, I searched some of these forums and found the 3 key combination (volume/power/home) which can be used to get a factory reset. Now, I have gotten that factory reset screen where I can scroll using the volume key, but my phone stays on that screen for about 4 seconds before reverting back to flashing "samsung." This is where I stand as of now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried to root my Samsung Galaxy Y Pro GT-B5510 using a number of different update.zip files recommended on various sites and forums, but I always encounter the same problem.
The instructions are the same everywhere, and I follow them to the letter: I transfer the file into the root directory of my SD card via USB cable, then disconnect and switch off my phone. I then get into recovery mode (after several attempts) using the Volume-Up, Home and Power buttons. I press Volume-Down to navigate the red menu and then Home to select "apply update from sdcard". I select update.zip, and a stream of cyan text rushes up my screen until it hits a snag...
The red menu reappears, followed by cyan text reading:
.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Although the previous mountain of text rushes up the screen too fast to read, I am sometimes able to catch a glimpse of what seems to be the main indicator of the problem:
Error in tmp/sideload/package.zip
As I said, this happens with multiple versions of update.zip that I've found. What could be causing it?
Samsung Galaxy 7.0 plus (gt-p6210) will not boot. It hangs at the Samsung banner. The banner is still glowing but it goes nowhere.
I have tried everything.
a. Delete cache (dalvik and otherwise)
b. System wipe.
c. Removed add on sim and repeated above.
I have a rooted ICS (original install via Kies).
I bought this phone whilst on a business trip In Shenzhen china.
It's was running 4.2.9 jb. 2gb ram 16gb rom 5" screen 1080p
I put 3d chain fire on it and now it's stuck in the boot animation.
I borrowed my friend phone, same as mine and loaded up mtk droid and it generated a backup of his phone with loads of files system folder, boot.img etc
It then packed it up into a zip file. From there I thought I could put the zip file on an sd card and boot into recovery and delete the data / cache and them select install from sd card.But the installation failed
Yesterday i tried updating my android to Ice Cream Sandwich following some tutorial i found but i missed a step and didn't downloaded Clockworkmod Recovery or made any backup , and i think that USB Debugging is off because my pc doesn't recognize the phone ... I tried going into Android system recovery and clearing data and cache , and i tried with odin mode by pressing volume down, home and power but i got stuck on downloading screen for 2 hours so i gave up ... Now only thing left on my sd card is ics aura rom..

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently some of my classmates locked my phone by trying to guess my pattern. This forced me to enter my sign into my googlemail account to unlock my phone; however, it was telling me that my username and password were wrong, even though I could log on on the computer into my googlemail account; I tried all the passwords ever set.
So I then decided to run a factory reset, so I wiped all the data, and then went to "reboot system now". It goes the the loading screen saying "GT-I5800 Samsung", but then goes back to my Android Recovery System. No matter how many times I click on "Reboot system now", it reverts back into a loop.
I have never tampered with the information on my phone, I have had this phone for 3-4 years at the moment and it was working fine, as it had never become locked before, so it is unlikely that I can return it.
I rooted the phone, enabled root, rebooted the phone, tried to uninstall via terminal... boem; permission denied! What a I missing?

Now, I really like to know why it is a MUST to root your phone just to increase the speed? I do not get it. Aren't there available programs in the market, to shut down unwanted programs? Like Task killer etc. BTW, is this the best program for this issue? I have ordered a Samsung Galaxy S and hopefully I will be getting it soon. But it worries me that the first thing I have to do is 'Root' my phone because of programs running in the background? Does not sound too logical to me. Are these official Samsung versions? If so, why does Kies not offer to upgrade my phone if there are later versions? If not and I upgrade to a later firmware version:Which version should I upgrade to? Do I need to root the phone? What happens if Samsung release later versions - will there be a conflict etc? The reason i would like to upgrade the firmware is the lag - I can live with it, but if there is a solution I would rather not. If I could remove the lag it woulld be the perfect phone.
One thing I am not too keen on, is ending up in a similar situation to my jailbroken iphone - became a pain in the arse everytime a new version of the OS was released.
I live in Canada and I have this I7500L Samsung Galaxy (with BELL mobility) I want to upgrade with the newer androids 2.1 or 2.2.
