Dec 30, 2012I bought a s duos which i hav rooted recently i started searching for sum roms 4 it but i couldn't find any soo i thought of using cyanogen mod 9 (unofficial) i put it in my sd card went 2 cwm and flashed it but my phone was in boot loop so i formated my phone cleared cache, dalvik cache etc, fixed permissions tried restoring bacxkups but still no use !X.it runs on android 4.0.4 . Any easy way 2 get out of the boot loop. i hav never installed and roms on this phone at all.

Sep 27, 2012I tried the MAK-DROID rom (thread) and it works great, but MAK-DROID didn't have the language pt-br (portuguese from Brazil). So I found the Aspire Rom (thread) and I give a try... and thats was a bad idea.
Now my fone even boot. It freezes on "GT-S5300 SAMSUNG" and vibrate a several times.
So, I boot on recovery and apply CWM again. On CWM I applied the MAK-DROID again, but didn't work.
After that I tried restore the my stock backup done with CWM. But even this didn't work. I received a message about EXTFS (or something like that) and impossibility of format the /system.
My final thought was try with Odin. So I follow the post #8 from MAK-DROID thread. I downlod the Odin and the S5300XXLF5 firmware. I open Odin and selected on PDA the *.tar.md5 file. But I received:

Aug 21, 2013I have a samsung galaxy pocket (s5300). Once upon a time I rooted it without using odin and it worked
After I tried some custom roms. But in the end I used my CWM Backup file to restore my original rom. But the damn thing just doesn't wanna connect to kies any more. Now I wan't to reflash it's stock firmware with Odin and I'm using a nokia cable (i know that I should use the real thing but it isn't sold in my country + in the begining I didn't have any trouble with the cable and my father flashed an android 4.0.4 on his Samsung Galaxy Nexus using this same cable). So when i put my phone in download mode and connected it gives me unknown usb device. I downloaded the drivers installed them tried again, but the damn thing just doesn't associate with them.
Than I showed it the proper drivers manually ( you know device manager-->update driver-->sellect driver; you get the picture) and still nothing. And i really use Kies and want to fix the problem. What should I do.

Aug 1, 2013Is there a way to block access to browsers? I would like the user of a Samsung galaxy Pocket (version 4.0.4) to be able to access one browser only.
The browser in use has a blacklist filter which block websites, but indeed you can easily bypass it by installing a new browser.
My past attempts: I have searched for a long time but could not find anything that worked. The browsers I have found which can block other browsers are not compatible with this device.
I have also searched for alternative ways of blocking websites though a blacklist but all of those solutions require rooting the device, which I do not have enough technical confidence to do.
Blocking Play store is not either an option since you would be able to install new browsers in other ways.

Jun 29, 2012I tried rooting my Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos SCH-I589 phone running GINGERBREAD.FA13 (v 2.3.6) using various methods but to no avail.
UnlockRoot gives the error "FAIL TO GET SHELL ROOT" and their website claims there is nothing they can do about it. I tried downloading other update files and placing them in the root of my sdcard but on starting the phone in recovery mode there is no option of installing from sdcard. On confirming that a new OS is to be loaded, it straight away goes to USB downloading screen (even when no usb is connected).
Any ways and means to successfully root the phone.
And before you recommend I watch the xda Noob video, let me just mention that there is no dedicated section for this particular model, nothing apart from Unlockroot and recovery mode pops up in any of the searches on any of the search engines, there are no other posts relating to rooting of this phone in this forum or any other forum on xda. (And yes I know this phone sucks but I desperately needed GSM+CDMA dual sim and this was the only option to me).
