General :: SD Card As Hard Disc Drive In WiFi Network
Apr 21, 2012i need an app to bring android sd card to wifi network as hard disc drive, without password or port or others.

i need an app to bring android sd card to wifi network as hard disc drive, without password or port or others.
I'd like to be able to access my phone's Micro SD card like a hard drive through wifi and also access my computer's hard drive through my Android phone through wifi.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone always goes into disc drive mode mode even when I select charge only. Worse, it goes to disc drive mode even when I charge using the wall charger, which means I can't access anything from my SD card when I charging my phone through the wall charger or my car charger.

Whenever I connect mine it and mount the SD card I get an error: PLease insert a disc into the drive.
Any ideas if this is a faulty card / device or incompatability issue?
I'm a recent addition to the Android Central roster and I was curious if there was a way to clear the hard drive on my nexus 7 device. I'm looking to sell it to a friend when the next installation of this tablet comes out as I am a huge fan.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago I kept getting a low disc space error message on my Droid (the original). I have already moved everything I can to the SD card with App 2 SD Pro and I haven't loaded any new software to the internal hard drive, but I still had to delete a program to free up space.
Two days ago I started getting the message again, and I haven't installed anything. But I think several system programs have updated and gotten bigger. I've had to take off more programs to free space.
Is this normal, or is there a problem? I've cleared up any caches that I can get to without rooting the phone, but I'm starting to think I need to do that. I never use the Facebook app and it eats a lot of space, but I can't delete it without rooting.
I have a Motorola Droid 4 Smart Phone and I would like to be able to access my Verbatim 500GB portable hard drive with it. I have tons of PDF books and other files I would love to access via my phone. I have purchase a 5000mah battery to plug the phone and hardrive into so power is mot a problem. Is there a proceedure for doing this or some kind of program I need??
I personally think this would be an awsome thing to be able to do. Espcially for any smart phone! Just think it would be like having access to your big computer off your phone. I keep my whole computer data on several portable hard drive. When I want access I just plug them into a computer. If I have a computer issue I very seldom loose my data. I have it all backed up on data dvd's and can always put it on another portable hard drive. I can take my whole computer data base any where and use any handy computer.
I'm working my way through Technica's vids, but I'm stuck at the part where I'm supposed to paste the root "package" on my sd card. My phone is recognized in My Computer as Removable Disc F:, but every time I click on it I get a pop up with "Please insert a disk into Removable Disk F:." I've restarted my phone with no luck.

In windows(7-64bit-ultimate) I have 2 disk drive entries in device manager for android phone, but only one shows volume information (for SD Card), the other shows "no media". (I also tried this on a different windows computer with the same result)
In linux mint (& ubuntu), 2 android phone drives show under "computer" but only one mounts (SD Card).
Obviously the SD Card pops up fine, but I can't get the phone storage to mount as a drive. I can see all the phone storage under /emmc in my file manager on the phone, and it shows up in the settings menu. I do notice that when I mount as a disk drive only the SD Card gets greyed out, not the phone storage...
I've tried using USB debugging, mounting through unrevoked, etc... no luck...
I haven't been able to get rom manager to fix permissions for B5, is that a possible thing to look into???
Anyone have a similar installation that works fine?
Mods feel free to move this under ROMS or anywhere else you want...
I'm looking into buying an external hard drive and was wondering if I could take it on the plane and tether to my Nexus One to watch M4V movies without using up any native memory? Or would I have to move the files to the sd card to watch them?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to add ringtones that I created and have on my laptop's hard drive.
This is what the Tips thread said:
To add new ringtones or SMS alerts, connect your Hero to USB and mount the device on your PC. Browser to the following folders:
Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms
However, I cannot find the media folder. Or maybe I have not even gotten to the sd card! I was able to add wallpapers and actually use them, so I did something right along the way.
So, if anyone wants to help a new android girl with this probably very basic task, please do!
I also synced all my contacts and my calendar from my GMail account. So, not 100% lame.
I have recently figured out how to watch movies on my samsung moment, but the problem lies with the fact that my SD card doesnt hold alot of them, Is it possible to hook up my external hard drive (western digital element i believe, its a flash hard drive) to my phone, to have a larger library of movies to watch?I figured at the least I would have to use a micro usb to mini usb.

View 32 Replies View RelatedI have the Galaxy S3 mini. I keep getting the notification to "Sign into Wi-Fi network"..Sometimes my phone is connected to wifi and other times it is on 4G.
I know this is a phone issue and not a network issue because it happens to me when I am at home and at work, I connect the the wireless router in both places.
I select it and it brings me to the web.how to stop getting this notification.
I have two android devices at home, a HTC One S and a Nexus 7(2012). The problem is that when I am using one or another occasionally the wi-fi will simply stop working. I'm still getting full signal in the notification bar, but either Chrome or whatever app that is using the wi-fi will stop retrieving data and eventually time-out or stay on buffering.
I have tried some things including changing the channel my wi-fi is set to from Auto to 6 and Mixed B/N/G mode to N only, but nothing seems to fix this problem except for one thing; turning the wi-fi off on one of these devices. The connections seem perfectly stable when I do this.
I also have a laptop in the house, my girlfriend comes over with her iphone, and I have an ipad from work that I occasionally bring home (I'm a teacher) and none of these devices ever have any issues, it's only the two android devices.
It's almost as it they are sharing the same wi-fi train track and only one can ride it at a time.
Am I missing something? How do I make it where the laptop will see the moment? I don't see a place for mounting the sd card, only unmounting?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI perused the play store looking for an app that will notify me whenever I connect to a specific wifi network but didn't have any luck.
Why I'm looking for this functionality
- i'm on a wifi only plan with my carrier
- my work has a wifi network but it requires me to provide login credentials before it is useable, so I'll be connected to their wifi network but I often forget to login to make it useable.
i have installed android 2.3.7 rom on my karbonnA1 same as that of ZTE N721.. with some modification to ZTE RACER rom.. i was able to boot the rom ... but the issue is WIFI, Bluetooth, and network is not working? Do I have to modify the kernel.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am looking for an app that automatically switches off the cellular radio when wifi is connected and switches it back on when wifi loses connection. I'm not talking about the APN data connection which already does that, I'm talking about the regular cell phone connection.
According to my lack of results searching through the forums, Market, and Google, such an app does not exist yet. Currently the best app I've found to do anything remotely like this is the Airplane Mode Wi-Fi app, which is a manual switch and a slightly cumbersome one at that, not nearly good enough for how often I go in and out of wifi.
The reason I ask for this is because I use Google Voice with SIP and a prepaid plan. I want to use SIP as much as possible to save my prepaid minutes for when I really need them. When wifi and cell are both connected with Sipdroid running and I receive a call, they both ring at the same time. To be sure I don't accidentally use prepaid, I usually reject the call and call back over SIP, which is slightly annoying for both me and the caller.
I would like to have the cell network type displayed while I am connected to WiFi in the status bar signal cluster. Currently, once you connect to WiFi, the LTE, H, E, etc, go away; I'd like them to stay.
I can move the WiFi icon over to make room for the type icon (LTE, H, E, etc) just by deleting "android:layout_marginRight="-6.0dip"" at the end of the "id/wifi_combo" line in res/layout/signal_cluster_view.xml in SystemUI.apk.
Where is the function that turns off that cell type icon when WiFi is connected in SystemUI.apk? I know the system can detect the type of network whilst WiFi is connected, it's just a matter for forcing that icon to stay displayed.
I am trying this on Cyanogenmod 11.
I'm wondering of there's some app that automatically connects to any open WiFi network.
