View 2 RepliesI have been able to mount my phone (HTC Hero) as a hard drive using windows xp, but I started using Ubuntu 10.04 and when I plug in my phone it mounts for a few seconds and then either unmounts for good or unmounts and tries to remount right away. Here is some output from /var/log/messages:

I'd like to be able to access my phone's Micro SD card like a hard drive through wifi and also access my computer's hard drive through my Android phone through wifi.

In windows(7-64bit-ultimate) I have 2 disk drive entries in device manager for android phone, but only one shows volume information (for SD Card), the other shows "no media". (I also tried this on a different windows computer with the same result)
In linux mint (& ubuntu), 2 android phone drives show under "computer" but only one mounts (SD Card).
Obviously the SD Card pops up fine, but I can't get the phone storage to mount as a drive. I can see all the phone storage under /emmc in my file manager on the phone, and it shows up in the settings menu. I do notice that when I mount as a disk drive only the SD Card gets greyed out, not the phone storage...
I've tried using USB debugging, mounting through unrevoked, etc... no luck...
I haven't been able to get rom manager to fix permissions for B5, is that a possible thing to look into???
Anyone have a similar installation that works fine?
Mods feel free to move this under ROMS or anywhere else you want...
Okay so I'm trying to listen to music from my phone (HTC inspire) to my Xbox 360. Both are running on same internet one is wired(Xbox) and my phone is wireless.. I'm getting two bars Max 1 mostly. And everytime I'm listening to music using both airsync and even imediashare about 3 songs it music just stops. I figured it was my screen turning off so I kept it on and in the middle of my song it stops... then whenever I go to change the song on the 360 my Xbox freezes due to the app -.+ I can't seem to get any of these apps to work and its really frustrating because I just wanna listen to music. (Do not troll and tell me to buy a new router, Xbox, go to ps3 or any of those lame things.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of weeks ago I kept getting a low disc space error message on my Droid (the original). I have already moved everything I can to the SD card with App 2 SD Pro and I haven't loaded any new software to the internal hard drive, but I still had to delete a program to free up space.
Two days ago I started getting the message again, and I haven't installed anything. But I think several system programs have updated and gotten bigger. I've had to take off more programs to free space.
Is this normal, or is there a problem? I've cleared up any caches that I can get to without rooting the phone, but I'm starting to think I need to do that. I never use the Facebook app and it eats a lot of space, but I can't delete it without rooting.
I have a Motorola Droid 4 Smart Phone and I would like to be able to access my Verbatim 500GB portable hard drive with it. I have tons of PDF books and other files I would love to access via my phone. I have purchase a 5000mah battery to plug the phone and hardrive into so power is mot a problem. Is there a proceedure for doing this or some kind of program I need??
I personally think this would be an awsome thing to be able to do. Espcially for any smart phone! Just think it would be like having access to your big computer off your phone. I keep my whole computer data on several portable hard drive. When I want access I just plug them into a computer. If I have a computer issue I very seldom loose my data. I have it all backed up on data dvd's and can always put it on another portable hard drive. I can take my whole computer data base any where and use any handy computer.
The first couple of times I connected my new Captivate to my PC via USB, it worked fine. I was given the notification to mount and view my files, and I was able to access everything. This morning, I plugged my phone in, and told it to mount in the notifications, but it did not appear on my PC. When I unplugged it and tried it again, it was not recognized at all as a USB drive.
Notes:
-I am using the "internal SD card". I have no external microSD to use at the moment.
-The phone charges when plugged into the computer, but does not mount.
-I have tried reinstalling the USB drivers via links found on this forum.
I'm looking into buying an external hard drive and was wondering if I could take it on the plane and tether to my Nexus One to watch M4V movies without using up any native memory? Or would I have to move the files to the sd card to watch them?

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow to add ringtones that I created and have on my laptop's hard drive.
This is what the Tips thread said:
To add new ringtones or SMS alerts, connect your Hero to USB and mount the device on your PC. Browser to the following folders:
Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms
However, I cannot find the media folder. Or maybe I have not even gotten to the sd card! I was able to add wallpapers and actually use them, so I did something right along the way.
So, if anyone wants to help a new android girl with this probably very basic task, please do!
I also synced all my contacts and my calendar from my GMail account. So, not 100% lame.
i need an app to bring android sd card to wifi network as hard disc drive, without password or port or others.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have recently figured out how to watch movies on my samsung moment, but the problem lies with the fact that my SD card doesnt hold alot of them, Is it possible to hook up my external hard drive (western digital element i believe, its a flash hard drive) to my phone, to have a larger library of movies to watch?I figured at the least I would have to use a micro usb to mini usb.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI spent quite some time de-deduping my PC's music library using Media Monkey and going through all albums to grab info from Amazon. Then I connect my phone and got MM to recognize the G: drive. Then I synced all my music and discovered some issues while trying to play the music using cubed (aka 3):
(a) album art was not showing up. I had previously used cubed to grab art, then cleared the cache before uploading my music. After upload, no art is showing in cubed app
(b) the music on my sd card was stored directly to the G: drive instead of the music folder. How do I get MM to sync directly to the music folder?
What is a good case for the captivate that isn't expensive. I'm looking at gel cases and hard cases.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted. However when looking through the internal memory i don't see a good place to put several gigs of music. Where should iput it? When connected as usb drive, i have no access to system files to copy over my music to. What is the best way to copy the music? Copy to sd card the root explorer copy to internal is all i can think of. That would be incredibly slow.
1. Where to put music on internal?
2. Is internal memory for storage same/shared with system files?
3. How to copy file to internal?
My 32 gb sd is full of movies so need to use my empty internal.
Still learning my Hero, but having issues with my music which I can not seem to get fixed. The problem is when I open up the folder when it is connected to my laptop it will say that a certain album or song is in the music folder that I have set up. However, when I unplug the phone from my computer and open up the music, the songs can not be found?!? I've sorted by each individual song and even looked in the dreaded "unknown artist" and "unknown song" folders and can not find the songs anywhere, but they will show up in the media file once its connected to the computer. Its making me feel really stupid cause I know I have enough room in my phone still, so I must be doing something wrong for a few of my songs, but I have no idea what.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went into the synch area of Windows Media Player and marked a bunch of my music file not to synch any more. So I figured on the next synch of my Droid X (Android 2.1) the corresponding files that were already on the phone would disappear. But they didn't. Shouldn't they? Do I have to go through and manually delete them one by one from the phone?I'm not sure Windows Media Player's approach to setting up a synch list makes sense at all. Is DoubleTwist or WinAmp less confusing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to upload my music library or access the files directly from the computer from anywhere, including my phone for free. I have done some searching around and have only found Posner.com, but it doesn't let you play an entire playlist from your phone, only a single song at a time. Anybody have any ideas? Also, I hear people talking about gmote when I look around, but isn't that a remote control? Not a way to play the music on the phone, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
