Can I run an Android ROM without installing it on my device?
I have a project that builds against Android v2.1 . I can run it fine on a phone running 1.5 but when I try to launch it with an emulator running 1.5, the emulator doesn't show up on the list of available AVDs. I have the <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="3"/> tag in my manifest but it doesn't make a difference.

Currently, the user simply types into an EditText and clicks a search button. I'd like to take away the search button and implement something similar to Google's Instant Search where, as you type, the search results get updated.
This means, as the user types, the search parameters change. I want to be able to kill the currently running thread (if one is currently running) and spawn a new one with the new search string. How can this be achieved? Can I do it with Thread or will I need to use a new object?
I noticed that if i dont use the app to kill running apps after i exit them they are still running in the background is this normal for the Android? I am coming from Pre so not sure if they are killed when exited.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy company is considering the purchase of an Android app (minimum Andriod 2.1) for our salesforce and wants to buy some Android tablets to run it. Regarding its functionalities, we're talking about an app that collects barcodes through the tablet camera and sends them to our network using our VPN over 3G network.
Mi idea was to wait a few months more and instead of buying the tablets, renew the laptops and buy some W8 tablets and run the application over them and that's where I have a couple of doubts:
1) How can I emulate Android in Windows 7/8?
2) Is there any possibility for the emulator to recognize both the tablet camera and the 3G SIM for communications?
I have a android but I love I phone.... It's so good looking.. So, i wanna try an Ios emulator for android..
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy tab 10.1
I'm trying to use a USB headset on it. Its normally used on my laptop or PlayStation and is just plug and play. It is powered through a mains socket so it does not feed from its connected device.
how can I get it to run on my tab?
I have a Galaxy S4 running android 4.3. Recently it's been randomly shutting off. I ride a motorcycle and most of the time when I get home the phone is off. If I try to turn it on it just goes into a reboot loop and the only way to stop it is to plug it into the charger. At first I thought maybe that the power button gets pressed somehow in my bike jacket pocket and hard shuts it down. But it keeps doing it.
Also I was using it whilst sitting in my house and it just randomly shut off. I'm not too sure whether it does it at a certain percentage or not or whether it only does it when a lot of memory is being used, which I doubt as I'm obviously not using it when it's in my pocket.
Another thing, and I don't know whether it's related or not, but when it shut off the other day whilst I was using it I thought If I took the battery out and back in would it let me boot it up without the need for a charger. But no it didn't work. I plugged it in and then when it came on the language had changed to Slovakian.
Looking on other posts about this some say it's a bad battery. I have AVG anitvirus so I doubt it's a virus although maybe one that isn't yet recognized by AVG? I would like to try and sort out the issue without factory resetting my phone. I have loads of apps and would take ages to back it all up and also the phone is rooted and that's difficult to do as well as install all my root only apps.
I have Android 2.2 from a Car radio.
I want to edit the files inside it. But I don't know how to do it.
These are the files inside the ROM:
Quote:
_MACOSX (folder with nothing inside)
Optional Apps (folder)
> os.tools.scriptmanager-2.apk
> ru.org.amip.ClockSync-1.apk
> Tasker.1.3.3u2.apk
flash_uboot.bin
Installation Instructions.txt (just some instructions on how to install the rom)
MLO (no file extension)
ubi.img
u-boot.bin
uImage (no file extension)
x-load.bin.ift_for_NAND (no file extension)
I want to know where I can find the updater-script to change something in there and also the two files android-logo-mask.png and wallpaper_electric.png
I also want to know how to extract the files.
I accidentally deleted some photos from my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, since the photos had sentimental value (my marriage proposal ), I started a quest to restore them.
To tell a long story short:I tried a lot of PC recovery programs, but non of them recognize the tab as a drive (because windows/Linux don't recognize it this way)I tried purchasing "Hexamob Recovery Pro", but it doesn't work on honeycomb / internal storage drivesI looked everywhere for a photorec binary to run from a terminal emulator diskhelp/photorec is a tool for linux to restore deleted files with.
run photorec (or any file recovery program) from the android tab itself.
My Tab is rooted with clockwork recovery and busybox installed.
Is it possible to run Linux on low-end android phones? Possibly a method that does not need loop device support.
I'm talking about 600Mhz processor and 256mb RAM. And Damn Small Linux as the linux distro.
Is there any method to do this? I have seen methods for Ubuntu and backtrack but they require better hardware.
I'm using a Tecno T3 running android 2.3.5, and using a qualcomm msm7627a chipset, I've tried rooting it using one click methods but to no avail. so I came across a thread that says If I flash a cwm recovery, I can use universal gingerbread root to root the phone. I Dont know how to port cwm to my device, so I decided to use the cwm for the karbonn a7+ which uses the same chipset. will it work?

Would I just be able to use a Custom ROM for a phone which has similar specs to the HS-U909 or would that essentially make the phone a paperwieght?

View 9 Replies View Related It's a Motorola Xoom running Android 4.1.2. The issue it's having is that even though the tablet is connected to the internet none of the apps (play store, YouTube, etc) will connect. They all say 'no internet connection'. The only way I know the tablet is actually connected to Wi-Fi is that the internet browser still works. This might be unrelated to the issue but every single website I go to it gives me the warning 'Security warning: There are problems with the security certificate for this site'. Sometimes I will have to hit cancel 10 times before the warning goes away.
this is something I can fix without doing a complete reset because there are pictures and stuff I don't want to lose. Since I can't connect to google play I can't back them up to am app like dropbox either.
I'd like to sell my HD2 running Android. However I cannot get it to reset the gmail account that I entered on it. These are things I've tried. Its a windows based hd2 running android so the correct section was a little confusing. Also I didn't flash it and of course the person that did isn't around compounding the issue. I need to maintain the flash but if I can't I can't .
1. data reset, several times
2. deleting the account ( I get an error saying, " This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults").
3. Going in and clearing "google apps" which doesn't exist.

Now the problem is, JB doesn't have File Manager installed and I need to install TB to revert my backups.
Due to some unknown reason I am not able to access internet on my device either through GPRS or 3G connection.
I am desperately looking for a way to access my SDCARD wherein I have all my apk's which I can install however, without File Manager I am not sure how to install an apk.
I did some google search and came across topics about installing apk using Android SDK etc.. however I would not want to work on SDK as I feel its bit tedious job for me.
I also tried Android Injector however that didnt work even if I have enabled USB debugging Mode for adb + apps.
Now, I am hoping that, I can use the Terminal Emulator which is preinstalledo n my phone to install apk present on my sdcard.
However, I am not sure how to do that, what are the steps to install apk present on my sdcard from Terminal Emulator available on my phone.
Here are some of the screen captures [URL] ......
I'm currently using a Nexus 7 (2012 model) running Android Jelly Bean 4.3. I've been having a strange issue where the Google Play app keeps saying there is no connection. This has also occurred in the Youtube app. I have tried changing my time manually, rebooting my device, and uninstalling updates, to no avail. I am currently unlocked and rooted, and using TWRP as my recovery.

Its not rooted. 400Mb used seems to be excessive as apart from Jelly Bean theres only 15 apps on ROM, using about 30Mb with the rest on external SD. there is no method to find whats hogging the space on ROM without rooting the phone, or is there?
