My wife's vehicle has a USB port into which she can plug the USB cable for her iPhone and play here music through the car stereo. Is there a cable that will allow for this on my Android device. Specifically, I have the Bionic. I didn't think it would play media through the USB port, and I didn't think there is an HDMI to USB cable, but I wanted to check.
View 1 Replies View RelatedVery often I find myself needing to reset or get around someone's Windows Password, the easiest way of course is with one of many available linux boot cd's that'll edit the windows system hive. However most of the time I'm not carrying this around, I have a USB stick that can be used but I noticed earlier that while my Nexus One was plugged into the USB port on boot it is detected by my bios.
So the question is - Can the android USB interface act as a boot device? If so I assume it'd need a different partition since it's already got an OS?
(Also while I have your attention: 1) Did they ever fix the +1 area code problems with contacts?, 2) Why don't half my contacts show up in Send MMS dialogue (and others)?, 3) How do I tell if I have an SLCD or AMOLED screen cos sometimes the screen looks really crappy (dithering or off colour banding) AND FINALLY 4) can you set notification sounds differently depending on time of day (ie; I don't want a new gmail alert to wake me up at 2am.
Is there a place where I could find open source examples of User Interfaces for android apps. Like a project containing custom buttons, isons, sound effect, a nice layout with multiple blank activities that serves as a skin for your app. Strangely I didn't find anything like this whereas there are plenty of themes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn apps like Gmail and Franco's kernel updater, there is a new interface element that brings out a drawer on the left side on Phone DPI that on Tablet DPI is a split screen.
Is this something that has to be programmed into the app, or something that can be edited into older apps? Mainly I would like that interface in the stock Email application.

I Have a Galaxy note, and I wanna change the User Interface of my phone. How do I do that? I mean the way everything looks( musics, buttons, settings, everything.) I dont if I am doing the right thing, but I downloaded some PSD files of interfaces I really liked, but I dont know what to do next.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been going over the android sdk for the past year to find out if there is a way to change the network type(2g/3g/4g), in phones with root access. However I couldn't find any way to do this.Asking around, someone told me that I could do this using reflection,by calling a method on a phone instance.Looking through the source code,I did find a setPrefferedNetworkType(); method in the Phone Interface, inside the internal telephony package. Is there anyway I can use this to solve my problem.I can't seem to find a way to get an instance of a class that implements the interface.Or is there any other way to do it entirely?

it is possible to make Android and Windows dualboot or not. The Acer Support told me that the bootloader is locked, so it is impossible to install it without hacking. So what I want to know is how I can hack the UEFI? I like Windows, but only for school or homework. I need Android aswell...
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy OEM's preloaded rom is almost-nearly stock, apart from 2 things:
1. White background on "system settings" interface and not the default holo. Cant that be changed to default?
2. Ribbon effect instead of flash-light in holo effect, which tbh is quite annoying, because the ribbon effect is also quite large and in slower animation speed so that,s 1 second of frustation everytime i scroll to the end. (Yea, 1 second isnt much but, add those up and it gets annoying really fast)
How can these be changed back to default without installing a custom rom?
I am using Xperia neo V that is running on ics 4.0.4.
Recently I rooted my phone without unlocking bootloader.
Now I need to flash custom rom on to my rooted device with locked bootloader. How can I do it?
I have a new phone, that came with android 5.1 (Ice cream sandwich) and it came with a trial of plants vs zombies. I enjoyed the trial and tried to upgrade, and it just gave me a network error. So I went to the google play app store, and bought the full version there. But now I have two copies installed, one that is still the trial, and one that is the full version. How I can remove the trial version from my phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed the paranoid android 3+ rom but now I cannot access TWRP or the bootloader screen. Android boots normally and the tablet is perfectly functional. When the tablet is off, there is no way to get to TWRP using the keys (power on with Vol- pressed etc. I have used all possible combinations). Also, there is no option to boot into recovery mode from the menu in "Backup & reset". Also, when I try to boot into recovery through a terminal emulator it again boots into andoid normally as if I just did a normal reboot. The "reboot recovery" command issued from the terminal emulator does not boot into TWRP. Trying to boot into recovery mode from within Phoenix Suite again boots the machine normally rather than in recovery mode. It's driving me nuts. Could it be a corrupt/locked bootloader? Is it something else? It seems to me that the only possible path for the bootloader is to load Android.
Is there any way to blind flash the bootloader again? It seems that this is the culprit since I can copy TWRP to nandg through the terminal emulator ("cat /extsd/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync; sync ;sync" but then again rebooting goes into android rather than recovery mode.
The tablet connects normally through USB to my PC and adb sees it properly.
I have several older Android devices that I used to use Google+'s Location Reporting feature to keep track of family. A couple of my family members got new phones and I passed on my previous phone back to them. The problem is, I can't seem to get the automatic location reporting (which used to be Latitude, later replaced by Google+'s system).
I think it might have something to do with my old device being connected to my Google Account (and not theirs), though the phones were factory reset and had new account linked to them. I can't seem to remove the android devices from my account (when I install new apps from the online play store, my old devices still show in the drop-down menu).
Is there a way to remove my old devices from my account in hope to get location reporting to function?
How do i remove the buffering sound from an radio app for android? My phone is rooted. I transferred the app to my pc and then I used apktools for extracting. The extracted .apk contains a few maps with a lot of xml and smali files and a few image files. I could'nt find any audio files in any of these maps (which could be the irritating loading sound that i want to remove).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have LK bootloader source code which I need to build and flash to a Nexus 5 device.
* I got the source code from the Code Aurora website
* I made a guess which branch is the stable branch I need, because I found no mention of it anywhere (I took "kk_2.7-stable", where kk means kitkat)
* On a Debian 7 stable machine, I installed a GCC cross compiler from Deb packages built using Emdebian tools
* I made a guess which target to compile, because the exact chip name didn't have its own: I use msm8960
* I created some symlinks to the cross-building tools because the makefile and the debian cross-building tool names are different
* I ran 'make msm8960' and the build was successful (I also tried earlier with NDK prebuilt GCC but it failed)
* I got a bunch of files with no idea what to do with them
* I attached the device to the computer and re-flashed the stock bootloader to make sure it works
* I checked the fastboot screen: Bootloader unlocked, secure boot is on
* I tried flashing the 'lk' binary file I got from the build process, but fastboot says:
sending 'bootloader' (1702 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.239s]
writing 'bootloader'...
FAILED (remote: invalid bootloader image
)
The size of the file is much smaller than the size of the stock bootloader, but I don't know if it matters or what exactly I need to flash. I did a lot of web search, including here on XDA, but found no evidence of struggling with flashing the bootloader.
How do I flash the bootloader after I build it?
My Lava Mtab MG7 has become locked due to too many wrong pattern attempts. I can't log into the Google account to unlock it. I wanted to enter recovery mode to wipe data (hard reset). But I don't know the combination of key presses to enter the bootloader. I have tried the following:
1. Vol Up + Power
2. Vol Down + Power
3. Vol Up + Vol Down + Power
I've been following the instructions on the HTCdev website for unlocking the bootloader on my HTC sensation XE. Ive made it to the last step and acquired the unlock code from HTC. I then copied that to my computer and followed the last step "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" but I get an error message in the CMD promt "remote: unlock token check failed"
I have made sure that the .bin file is in the correct directory (c:Android).I have USB debugging enabled and fastboot disabled.
i want to know if it's possible to root an Android without unlocking the bootloader. My problem is I don't want anything wiped off the phone. I'm trying to get past the lock screen, because I found this phone in the street, so I want to get the numbers in it to try and return it. I've heard you can bypass the lockscreen if it's rooted. It's a Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize, (or Fascinate).
