Motorola Droid : Remove Factory Apps That Come Installed On Phone?
Mar 12, 2010Is there any way to remove the factory apps that come installed on the droid or any way to keep them from coming on. For example the corporate calendar shows on when check to make sure no apps are running so I have to hit the kill apps button to stop it until it decides to come on again. Dec 20, 2013I'm on a team that manages a large number of Android tablets for the company at which I'm employed. The higher ups are concerned that our users will just walk off with the tablets and do a factory reset, making the device theirs. I was hoping there was some way to password-protect the bootloader, but it doesn't seem like that's possible. So now we're thinking that even if we could remove the recovery, it would ease the minds of the higher-ups to know that if a tablet disappears, the user will have to have a working knowledge of fastboot to be able to to a factory reset on the device, and that's good enough for us. I've looked into possibly modifying the stock recovery to just remove the factory reset option, and I would be willing to flash a modified CWM or TWRP without factory reset, if either of them exist.
I know the old adage: Physical access is root access, but if we can at least dissuade them from stealing the devices, it would make my bosses feel much more at ease about spending a buttload on the tablets.

Open root explorer
Navigate to
Root/data/system/ and delete
Accounts.db
now reboot
You are done

Sep 15, 2011When I load a new ROM and need to reinstall my apps there are usually a couple I don't want to install. Is there anyway to remove them from the "Not Installed" under "My Apps"? It seems like since I once downloaded and installed an app, it will always be there.
If I can't remove them, then I can't use the bulk install option and have to manually start all the installs.

Jun 29, 2010After the update, the factory-installed Voicemail icon was showing that "Couldn't load widget" message. I removed and replace it without a problem. This morning, I got a voice message and now it doesn't show the new message count in the icon.
Not a big deal, but I guess that means they updated that app (current version is V.5.1.0.30). I was hoping they would at least improve the recording quality by providing options for raising the recording frequency so it doesn't sound so "tinny".
HTC Incredible : Prepping For A Factory Restore - Remove SD Card?
Aug 2, 2010So I took my inc to best buy for a warranty replacement where I was promptly told I would not be seeing my replacement for at least 2 weeks. Seeing as how I am in the middle of a big move / would like to use the nav for the drive, I want to put this off. So I'm going to try a factory restore and I'm praying it will resolve/help my phantom left swipe issue. Has anyone done this/have any tips for prepping? As far as I know my photos/music will be untouched.
I'm assuming everything on my sd card will be untouched?
Will this include my snes Roms/save states?
Should I remove my SD card during the restore? I only ask because I believe the restore deletes all apps aren't some stored on the sd card? Am I going to have to manually "re-link" all of my contacts

According to the manual you keep your finger on it until you get a red ring around it and then drag it to the bottom of the screen to the delete bin. Have tried this and it doesnt work? Apr 16, 2010I tried rooting my cliq using the instructions on Unlockr. I flashed the phone but thereafter it would only turn on, pull up the MotoBlur sign in and have a date of 12/31/1969 at 7PM. What struck me was the amount of apps or widgets for things I'll never use cluttering the screens. Can these be removed or is this all linked to the OS? Is this what people are talking about in reference to installing ROMS? I understand that this is not yet possible on the Ds because of eFuse. I also understand it is being worked on.
