What struck me was the amount of apps or widgets for things I'll never use cluttering the screens. Can these be removed or is this all linked to the OS? Is this what people are talking about in reference to installing ROMS? I understand that this is not yet possible on the Ds because of eFuse. I also understand it is being worked on.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I load a new ROM and need to reinstall my apps there are usually a couple I don't want to install. Is there anyway to remove them from the "Not Installed" under "My Apps"? It seems like since I once downloaded and installed an app, it will always be there.
If I can't remove them, then I can't use the bulk install option and have to manually start all the installs.

I flashed the phone but thereafter it would only turn on, pull up the MotoBlur sign in and have a date of 12/31/1969 at 7PM. I can't sign in to MotoBlur at that point and have to basically reinstall the most recent update and start from scratch again. All I want to do is remove those pre-installed apps that I never use.

And noticed there's not always an option to Uninstall on these and some others.

Are there some "core apps" or "core programs" that can't be removed?
A brief search on this matter on related threads seems to indicate only on "rooted" phones.

Not much seems to be different, I am still having lag time from loading up my icons when I go back to home which was originally my main problem with the update. I have so far just downloaded Rom Manager, Wireless Tether, and Set CPU which is set at 600 mhz Max and 125 Mhz, is that alright? My last question is how do I delete the pre installed apps? View 8 Replies View RelatedI am new to this (less than a week) and I removed everything with root explorer (and it was so simple). You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me. The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only). It is just as it says - r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.
