Today I was trying to download and update some apps via wifi but later I discovered that it was on mobile data and I received message from Operator/Carrier that I have crossed my data pack limit and using it further will be chargeable. Is there any way to stop or prevent downloading apps when phone is using Data Pack?

Do you know any application to prevent other applications from reading your personal data (contact, identity, history, ...) ? That would be great to be able to use our phone without giving away to unknown company/people our very personal data.

Essentially, I'm trying to block internet access for certain apps while the rest on the device is connected. I'm running CM10.2 on a GS3.
I use DU meter but its in the notification panel...i need one in the notification bar

but isnt refreshed in real time and slows the phone and battery life.
Some apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
I am planning to factory restore my phone. I have purchased lots of apps from Google play store. I do not want all the apps to be downloaded. How can I prevent all apps from getting downloaded to my phone? There is a firmware upgrade waiting to be installed right now. is it possible to delete the firmware? I do not want to put that on my phone....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am use CSipSimple for my VoIP calling and unfortunately, every time I do a Memory Clear (under the RAM tab), it kills nearly all of my programs including CSipSimple. I know that 2 apps that this action definitely doesn't close is my AVAST! mobile security and my Ultimate Rotation Control. I'd like to be able to make CSipSimple be immune to such "clears" as those two apps but I do not know how to go about it.
At the moment, I always have to reopen it after I clear and sometimes it takes a bit for it to reconnect.
In android 4.0 and above there is the option in the data usage settings, to turn mobile data on and off. What difference does it exactly make? As fas as I tested, I still can take a look at my mobile data usage, even though it is tuned off in the data usage settings.

Certain apps disable auto-sleep while they're open.Is there any way to force my device (Nexus 7) to sleep in these apps after a certain time.
Example. I have a Nexus 7 in my dash and leave navigation running. When I turn my ignition off the charger turns off however the tablet doesn't because I left navigation on.
I've installed several games that need to download aditional game data, but so far I couldn't manage to download anything. For some reasons, the download never starts and it gives an error. I tried using logcat to see if there are any errors but I couldn't find a clue.

I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue on my poor old Samsung S2. Suddenly I am not able to download certain apps in the google play store because they are not available in my country. I live in the U.S. and have always had this phone in the U.S. so I'm not sure why it suddenly started giving me this message. Currently the app I am trying to download is Guess the 90's which I know is available in the U.S. Is there an easy fix for this that does not involve rooting my phone or calling google support? I have tried resetting my address in google wallet and resetting the play app to no avail.

My eris has always has pretty alright battery life, what I would expect out of a smartphone, if unplugged at 9AM it usually was running on its last leg around midnight. I have noticed that if I disable Mobile Network (3g/1x data), the thing lasts all day and some... If I turn mobile network ON, I can't see that I have any network traffic or any apps running in the background that are syncing data at all... I've had google account sync mess up on me before and have to reset my google account because it gets stuck in a syncing loop, but its not doing that, already checked. Very weird.
Anyone thing it could be something wrong in my ##PROGRAM#/##778# provisioning menu, maybe something got changed?.. Maybe it could be do to Alltel's AT&T merger that's happening right now, maybe some 3G tower's radios are turned off or something...

The problem is when I re-add my Google account to it, Google Play automatically starts re-downloading ALL my apps to it and I don't want that (probably over 100) - I just need 4 to 5 apps from that account re-downloaded (I don't mind doing it manually). When I link to a video file (.m4v), Android wants to download the video to the phone, and then you can play the video from your phone.On an iPhone (and Palm Pre), however, the same link just opens up the video in the media player, and returns to the web page upon completion.
My website is for members only, and I would prefer them not to be able to download the videos. Obviously I know there is no way to completely protect the videos, but I would like to at least make it appear like you can't download the video for a casual user. Streaming is not really an option.So my question is how do I deliver the iPhone experience (opening in a media player) on an Android phone?
I run into rather strange problem. My phone, china Android 2.3.4, is working quite weel instead of this:
If I use WIFI, then turn it off and try to use mobile data connection, it is not possible.
Icon showing that mobile connection should be active is on, but no data comming through.
I tried switchiing to airplane mode, changing access point names and so on, but nothing worked. Only solution was to restart the phone, after that all works normally - until connecting to wifi.
After rooting my phone I tried to figure out more with Teminal emulator. It seems that after releasing wifi connection and turning interface down, mobile interface comes up with same IP as before - it should ask network for new one. But, more important, route table is empty (or containing one entery and no default gateway at all) I tried bringing mobile interface up and down several times, tried forcing it to use dhcp (timeout), without success.
Is there a way to "reset" whole networking system from shell? Something like partial restart, which would be probably quicker than full restart.
Facebook app will not work over mobile data on my GS3. It works fine over WiFi, but on mobile data its slow. I flashed the 4.1.2 leak i wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Is there any app that measures battey drain, mentioning the usage when data is on?
Am using Galaxy S3, GT-I9300.
It is now with Jellybean 4.1.2.
