View 4 RepliesI've been struggling with ADB for the past week or so, and have been unable to see my HTC One X+ no matter what I've tried. Then I decided to install Ubuntu using Virtual Box and voila, It can see my device using the same computer with no problem. I ran an ADB restart just to make sure and it worked. This all started when I tried to run an RUU and it couldn't find my phone. RUU's don't run on Linux, just seems to point at Windows 7 being the issue.
I've had 5 Android devices, all 5 have successfully connected with ADB on this same computer in the past. I've installed custom ROMs on all of them and have used ADB quite a bit over the past few years. I'm not sure what changed in the past year since I last used ADB that now causes it to not see my device.
Today though I was investigating a non responsive NAS drive that wasn't responding. When I went to it's location I rebooted it and thought hang on I can check it's working from here.So i fired up my terminal emulator app to ping it. However that's when I realised that linux doesn't appear to resolve windows networking hostnames. So my only option would have been to know the IP address. Is there any workarounds for this? My phone isn't rooted.I was wondering if there was some way to interegate a PC for it's hosts knowledge.. Even if that meant running a process on that computer which updated a list that could then be served to my phone.. but then that would only work if the phone has the abilty to then translate hostnames to ip addresses, especially since I don't have access to etc/hosts.So imagine you are outside and want to ping your computer but don't know it's ip address but you know the computer name. How would you do it?I realise now I could have opened up the router admin page to see attached devices but any other suggestions welcomed.

I can not see my device on adb devices. I also got a Sony Xperia and I can not see it on the list either. I upgraded the phone software (the HTC) to 1.6 a few days ago. Maybe that is what caused the change, but I could not be sure.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had DC 2.08.1 installed for about 2 weeks with no issues. I decided to go ahead and partition the SD to utilized apps2SD as I was having memory issues. That process, while not smooth, went through okay and the SD card is working with the partition and apps2SD. However, ever since that was completed, my Windows 7 box no longer recognizes the phone either as a phone or as a drive. My Linux laptop recognizes the drive without issue.
Any suggestions on how I can reintroduce my phone to the Windows box, at least as a drive?

I would like to hack in to two andorid devices, mic and the GPS device. With the mic I want to get the back ground noise. Measure the intensity of sound for ex - lets say frequency or some dB value (which ever is supported). With GPS obviously the location cordinates.
On the android platform it will be easy to do this as an application. However I want to pass this data to the kernel..how to achieve that? a user space daemon polling the above sensors constantly(then agian how to write to the kernel space..), or can I get these values in the kernel space itself? (ex- as a bite stream from the device driver).
I was wondering if it would be possible to connect 2 or more android devices together to each other using USB otg. I have tried stick mount and it does not work. Galaxy Nexus
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two android devices at home, a HTC One S and a Nexus 7(2012). The problem is that when I am using one or another occasionally the wi-fi will simply stop working. I'm still getting full signal in the notification bar, but either Chrome or whatever app that is using the wi-fi will stop retrieving data and eventually time-out or stay on buffering.
I have tried some things including changing the channel my wi-fi is set to from Auto to 6 and Mixed B/N/G mode to N only, but nothing seems to fix this problem except for one thing; turning the wi-fi off on one of these devices. The connections seem perfectly stable when I do this.
I also have a laptop in the house, my girlfriend comes over with her iphone, and I have an ipad from work that I occasionally bring home (I'm a teacher) and none of these devices ever have any issues, it's only the two android devices.
It's almost as it they are sharing the same wi-fi train track and only one can ride it at a time.
I have purchased 3 Samsung Galaxy Nexus devices for my family, and one for myself. I wanted to setup all our devices for them and pre-install essential apps for them, and lay it out in a way which makes each device identical so that my family (which is new to Android) can all get the same easy experience from their devices, rather than everyone getting a different LG/Samsung/HTC device and having to deal with differences in skins every time someone phones me with a question about their device.
Here is what I have done:
1. Unlocked bootloader, root, installed CM10.1.2 + gapps onto my own personal device. Clean install, wiped everything.
2. Setup android with a temporary Gmail account, installed about 20 apps, setup the homescreen, changed a few settings for simplicity, change wallpapers, etc.
3. Once I was satisfied, I removed the google account, rebooted to recovery (CWM 6.0.3.2) and made a Nandroid backup which was later copied to my home server.
4. Unlocked Bootloader, rooted and installed CM10.1.2 + gapps on all the other devices, booted the device then transferred the Nandroid backup from my home server to each of these other three devices. Restore the backup, reboot, all seems fine so I setup new individual google accounts, and away I went. Everything works fine, at least so it seems.
Now the issue is that I'm having came a day or two after I got everything setup on each device. At the moment I'm having serious issues with the Google Play Store and Push Notifications. Almost all devices intermittently have issues with this. The play store issue I'm getting is [RPC:S-5:AEC-0], and prevents me from downloading or updating apps. Push notifications is not working either. For example, Google hangouts notifications don't notify me of messages on devices intermittently unless I manually check the app. Same goes with facebook and snapchat notifications. Very annoying. Tried all sorts of fixes such as removing the Google account, rebooting and adding it again, but no luck.
I changed the Android ID on each device hoping that would work, but still no luck.
Edit: Tried making a titanium backup of one device and moved it to a rooted Galaxy S2 running CM10.1 nightlies, and no such issue. Also, updated one nexus device to the latest nightly, still no fix.
I'm lookin for an app to remote controll android devices from each other, like teamviewer for pc!
Lot's of my friends have problems with their phones sometimes and keep asking me, how can i do this or that and how does stuff work....
So I am looking for a app witch works like Teamviewer, so i can see there screens and just do it for them via remote I thougt I've seen something in the xda portal someday but don't remember a name....
Any app to do that? It should work without root and easy like teamviewer (at least for the host)......
This only happens when the screen is off! Galaxy Mini, GS4 and now my HTC One m8...
Music will skip or cut out for 0.1 sec or do every now and then, no matter of it's through headphones or Bluetooth speakers. I haven't had this issue on my m8 much and power amp seems not to have this issue at all. But I'm using Apollo currently.
I've seen this behaviour on other android devices as well, but never on Apple or Nokia phones.
I know there is a lot out there regarding ways to print from android devices (Cloud Print, HP reprint, etc), but I am running into a slightly different problem, and I am sure I am not alone.
Fairly often, I am on a webpage, and after completing an order form or something, I end up with a secure (HTTPS) confirmation page. Unless I thought about it ahead of time and used the cloud print web browser, the is absolutely no way to print these forms. Sharing the page to cloud print will only take me back to the login page since the confirmation page was secure.
I can't be the only one needing this functionality... the frustrating thing is that my wife can even do this on her iPad with ePrint. And with surface, web pages can be converted to PDF right in Internet Explorer for printing later. Android seems to be the only platform with this huge limitation.
I really don't want to have to return my Nexus 10 and get a Surface, buy it may have to be a consideration.......
I have an android phone Jelly Bean 4.1.2
I already installed the drivers of my phone to my computer, when i plugged the cable i enable USB DEBUGGING.
After that i checked device manager and my phone is listed under Android Phone
After that i go the console and type adb devices it starts the server and returns an empty list
I tried everything. I also try kill-server and start-server still the same.

View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought a wifi range extender (TP-Link tl-wa730re first version) and I configured it in order to extend (range extender mode) wifi signal of my router over some rooms of my house. In particular I use this extender to take the signal into a room in which I already get router signal, but it's too low to have a fast connection.
So in this room I have 2 signal (I used this app to analyze my conditions Play Store Link): the router one, with 20-30%, and the repeater one, with 70 %. I haven't any problem with my pc, but I have the same issue with my android devices (galaxy nexus, 2 nexus 7, htc sensation, xperia u): they randomly disconnect themselves for just a couple of seconds and then they switch between the 2 signals
Moreover about every 10 hours, I must reboot the extender, or every android device stops to get a working connection. For example, my gnex lost connection and continuously tries to connect to router, but it always fail.
If I move from this room to another one (especially if in this room router signal is stronger than before) my devices lost connection and I have to reboot phone or tab to get connection back...
My router has a WPA-PSK TKIP-AES password, dhcp enabled, automatic channel search enabled (the usual channel is always free), and wifi bg with a speed up to 125 mbps. My extender has no password configured, dhcp disabled, same channel of router and its extended wifi has been seen by every android as the same of router (only 1 signal is detected into settings).
I already tried to set a static IP from wifi settings on phones but nothing change..
I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy Tab 3. I want all of the music from my phone to automatically sync with my tablet. I download to my phone directly and don't want to transfer everything manually each time I download a new song.
I see that Google Music can do this but it's designed for music that is stored on a laptop/pc. I'd rather not do it this way if possible as the whole reason I bought the tablet was to avoid carrying the laptop around.
note that the music is stored on the SD Card and not the handset. Not sure it will make a big difference but I thought I would point it out.
I have several older Android devices that I used to use Google+'s Location Reporting feature to keep track of family. A couple of my family members got new phones and I passed on my previous phone back to them. The problem is, I can't seem to get the automatic location reporting (which used to be Latitude, later replaced by Google+'s system).
I think it might have something to do with my old device being connected to my Google Account (and not theirs), though the phones were factory reset and had new account linked to them. I can't seem to remove the android devices from my account (when I install new apps from the online play store, my old devices still show in the drop-down menu).
Is there a way to remove my old devices from my account in hope to get location reporting to function?

What's the best way to stream video between Android devices? (wirelessly)
A bonus would be if I could choose where the video decoding happened (on the source or destination)...
My main device is an HTC One M8, but I also have a Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 7 2012, Galaxy Nexus, and a Moto X running on the same Wi-Fi network. They are all experiencing some slow activity on Wi-Fi. I also have 2 desktop PCs and a Laptop running on the same network and they are running fine, no noticeable lag.
On all of my Android devices, browsing the web via Chrome is almost as snappy (but still not the speeds I get on data) as it is on my computers. However when it comes to certain apps, there is a noticeable slowdown. Instagram has a lot of trouble loading images, Facebook, Twitter, Play Store downloads are stupid slow as well. And a bunch of push notifications from those apps, as well as GMail, won't come through or will come through hours after they should have.
But if I just switch Wi-Fi off on the devices that also have a data plan running (Moto X, One M8, GNex) everything comes through as fast as expected.
Could it be my router? I have a Linksys E800.
Best software for streaming audio/video from android to android, this question is 2 fold.
1 I would like to use my old POS zte racer android device with a restive screen and 3.2 mpxl camera as a video monitor in my babies room, over WiFi.
2 I would like to duct tape an old android device to the front of my RC monster truck and drive it through an apple store on fire. Over 3G or perhaps WiFi hotspot from my good phone, shared with the duct taped bumper droid.
I am looking for an app that can remote control my phone from my pc without streaming the screen.
I have an Xperia that connects to my TV via HDMI & I don't have any wireless mouse/keyboard. So I need a way to control it from my PC with a decent speed. I just need basic nagivation buttons, home/menu/back or mouse support if possible...
I am working on a capstone project for school, what i need is to be able to take WiFi scans (no need to connect, only scan available network BSSID and signal Levels) quickly.
Currently, the Android API takes up to 5 seconds for a scan. Is there something i can do to improve my scan rate?
