I have a Sony Ericsson Aspen with windows mobile 6.5 - 256MB RAM, 600MHz, 320x240px. I saw a thread named RunDroid-Dual Boot to Android. I downloaded the files needed [from thepiratebay] for HTC HD2 <Magnet Link> and the app RunDroid. I installed RunDroid on internal memory and the android rom on the sd card [sdhc 4gb]. Can you recommand me an Android Rom that would work on my device [specifications] ?
Edit: When I try to boot on android, it says 'Haret: Booting Linux' and then 'Error: Terminating haret due unhandeled exception 9pc=00c83fb40'

I have a new Captivate and am attempting to establish a USB connection with Windows XP sp2.
I have downloaded setup two different USB drivers, (1) from Samsung--I assume it's the official driver, and (2) from the Android SDK. Both installations ran without error. But when I attempt to install either driver, Windows complains that it cannot locate the driver. I'm at a loss.
Windows is finds the Captivate when connected but only intermittently. Sometimes it identifies it and sometimes it doesn't.

So I am new into the world of playing with phones. I come from the computer realm as an engineer for the past 10years or so. So far I have not tried to root or anything but I fully intend to give it a try in the very near future. Anyways the reason behind this post is I am interested in the possibility to dual boot my device. i.e. I want to keep the stock build of 2.1 with sense but I want to be able to still play around with a 2.1 or even 2.2 (hopefully) ROM without losing my stock setup. Is this even possible? I hear a lot of people also saying they switch between ROMs often. Can you do that without losing all of the data that you have loaded on the phone already? If that is the case then switching back and forth between stock and a new ROM takes out the need for the dual boot requirement.

I'm trying to connect to connect to my T-Mobile G1 to test a simple android app I an creating. I cannot get it to show up in the list of connected android devices. Here are the details: - 32-bit Windows XP - I have enabled USB Debugging on my device - I am not prompted with the New Hardware Wizard when I plug my device in, it is merely seen as a new removable drive. It does not appear under any other categories in Device Manager, nor is there a new "Unknown Device" entry anywhere to be found - I have tried "Update Driver" and select the driver that Google provides for their official developer devices, but it says "this driver does not match your device" or something to that effect. Probably because it is expected a device type other than "Disk Drive" - I have tried uninstalling the device under "Disk Drives" and plugging it in again but it always gets reinstalled automatically as a "Disk Drive" - I have tried uninstalling the device, manually installing the Google driver from the INF file and plugging in the device and it is still only recognized as a "Disk Drive" - Most importantly, I get a blank device list when I run "adb devices" from the Android SDK tools directory before and after each step I tried After hours of scouring the web I get the distinct impression that a new device category should be popping up in Device Manager if the driver is installed correctly, but I have not been able to get the device to come up as anything other than a new "Disk Drive"

I don't see the logic behind this. The more people who watch hulu means more people who are looking at ads. And the more people who look at ads, the more money hulu makes. The only logic I could see behind this is that a Hulu Plus app is coming to the Android market, but I haven't heard anything about that. What's your take on this?

I have been using LibTomCrypt to use SHA1 encryption ( for data integrity checking ) on mobile devices (iPhone OS and Android for the moment ). I was wondering if anyone is using anything else, things to consider are Portability ( C preferred but C++ is also an option ), and libraries size ( small == better for my particular needs ).

I've a very simple static web page (only css and links, no scripts).
It looks good on android and iphone, but too small. I'm guessing they put it smaller since it work for most of the sites.
How can i override this and make him look the size i want it to be?

I am planning to develop for WP7 and Android. What is the better way to display (and traverse) 3D scene/models in term of LoD? The data is planned to be island-wide (Singapore).
1) Real-Time Dynamic Level of Detail Terrain Rendering
2) Discrete LoD
3) Others?
And please advice some considerations/algorithms/resources/source codes. something like LoD book also Okay. Side note: I am a beginner in this area but pretty well-versed in C/C++. And I haven't read the LoD book.

Install Android on your HTC Windows Mobile phones - Kongtechnology.com. Google, the land of milk and honey, have smashed open the smartphone market when they released their Android platform for free to developers and in one fell swoop, gave a huge stride forward for smartphones everywhere. Traditionally, the smartphone market relied on specific operating systems such as Nokias Symbian, Palms PalmOS and Apple with their iPhone OS. Each company fights to keep their software on their own phones and the result is that a person is locked into using only phones from a particular company if they are familiar with the software. As they say, you cant have your pie and eat it.

I'm very new to Android development and I want to develop an application that uses a local database. I want to show the results of queries in a DataGrid like object.
The UI would be somewhat similar to this.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/marco2530/img1.jpg
Is it possible to develop this kind of UI in Android? If so how can I accomplish this? Are there good tutorials I can follow?

Today though I was investigating a non responsive NAS drive that wasn't responding. When I went to it's location I rebooted it and thought hang on I can check it's working from here.So i fired up my terminal emulator app to ping it. However that's when I realised that linux doesn't appear to resolve windows networking hostnames. So my only option would have been to know the IP address. Is there any workarounds for this? My phone isn't rooted.I was wondering if there was some way to interegate a PC for it's hosts knowledge.. Even if that meant running a process on that computer which updated a list that could then be served to my phone.. but then that would only work if the phone has the abilty to then translate hostnames to ip addresses, especially since I don't have access to etc/hosts.So imagine you are outside and want to ping your computer but don't know it's ip address but you know the computer name. How would you do it?I realise now I could have opened up the router admin page to see attached devices but any other suggestions welcomed.
