General :: Motorola Triumph Won't Boot / Just Vibrates
Oct 2, 2012
I had a triumph with MIUI on it and it worked fine, but i decided that i'd try a CM9 build found here URL.....once i installed it i was on the splash screen over an hour so i decided the pull the batter and go into recovery mode. it didn't work the first time but after the third time. i got it to work by pulling the battery and pressing the power and volume buttons before putting it back in.
I downloaded the stock rom and tried looking for it in recovery mode but it couldn't be found cause it was a .7z and when i opened it, it didnt have the say file structure as regular roms. just a bunch of images, like those that go into the image folder(can you guess where i'm going with this?) so i copy the contents of the image folder to a folder named "image" on my desktop and proceed to paste the img files into my phone's image folder. i try booting up and all i get is a constant vibration.

I have a problem with a Galaxy S2 Mini. The phone doesn't boot, it only shows the first Samsung logo and then the Samsung Galaxy S2 mini text, but after that, the screen turns black and the phone does only vibrate. Is there anyway that I can reset my phone (erase all data??). I also cannot connect the phone on my computer (It doesn't show anything in My Computer on my PC)

The other day when I went to install a font on my phone, I tried the Arial font and it had me restart. When It rebooted, it wouldn't load pass the Motorola boot logo. I rebooted into recovery and tried wiping/formatting my phone and it would still get stuck at the boot logo. I tried putting the stock rom onto my microSD card and installing via the recovery menu but it rebooted and the recovery menu went blue with lesser options. And will Virgin Mobile send me a new one since it is rooted?(I was going to send it back due to the loose charge connection.)

So my phone (Motorola triumph) recently started having charging issues. When I plug it in I usually have to wiggle it a bit for it to charge...then if I just leave it for a bit and don't touch it I will come back like 15min later and it won't be charging.
Tried multiple chargers and they have the same problem.

So the ringtone option on my Droid X does not work anymore, or I somehow put it on permanently vibrate. The ringtones were working fine when i received calls but now it only vibrates. I've gone into settings > Sound & Display > Ringer volume and turned it all the way up but it still only vibrates when receiving a call. My Text message sound works fine it's set as the facebook pop. Can anyone help me with this? I'm not sure if i just missed something or if there is another phone setting that i'm not seeing but my ringtone does not work! This phone is the most amazing phone i've ever owned and now can't wait to get the froyo update...any idea when i can install that on my phone?

My Droid never vibrates, ever. No matter if it is set to vibrate only, silent, or max sound. It doesn't vibrate for calls, texts or for anything. I set vibrate on for both, calls and texts - and it never vibrates. I temporarily installed other apps to see if the phone is physically able to vibrate, and it is. I am not sure if I am missing an option, or if there is a software malfunction.

The title says it all. I force updated my Droid 1 to 2.2 and the phone does not vibrate for notifications or calls. I have vibrate set to always and the ringer is turned on. If I use the volume rocker to change the settings to silent it will give the vibrate notification to indicate that it is in silent. I have done a factory reset on the phone but the issue remains. I have tried all of the different vibrate settings but still nothing. Any ideas?

my htc sensation shut down yesterday, and as yet I have been unable to get it on, the battery itself was still sitting at about 15%. When I plug the phone into the wall or computer the orange led flashes slowly. When I attempt to turn the phone on it vibrates repeatedly as if trying to boot, but nothing appears on the screen. I have tried to jump start the phone, hard reboot, bootload through the pc but nothing seems to be happening. I need my phone urgently as my wife is due to give birth anyday now, and she needs to be able to contact me at work.

My Android phone is bricked. It is an MT6515 phone; model i9270+ (Chinese dual SIM phone).I had trouble rooting it, so I was half way there following steps in THIS thread. T
I accidentally flashed my phone with the wrong boot image from fast boot ("fastboot flash boot boot.img"). I had a clockwork mod backup copy of my own boot.img, so I just wanted to reflash it. Fastboot said that the flash failed.
I tried again, and then in the middle of the process my command prompt stalled. Phone was in flashing process for about an hour, so I hit Ctrl+C to stop it... I wanted to do a recovery from the phone itself using clockwork recovery...
When I wanted to boot my phone there was no screen light. The phone just vibrates twice and that's all.
PC won't recognize it, so I can't go back to fastboot mode. Key combination (vol up + power) won't bring fastboot mode...This phone seems completely bricked...

I tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?

I went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.
I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.

I try to understand android boot sequence on my JB (under CM10). I found some docs and there should be specific partitions (boot, recovery, system, cache, data).
My understanding of the boot sequence is now:
A) normal boot:
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) boot-partition where i flashed the kernel aka boot.img ->
4a) system-partition with the OS (libs, UI, etc) where i unpacked over CWM my customROM.zip ->
4b) data-partition, where i unpacked google-apps.zip and installed all the apps ->
4c) cache-partition with user data
B) recovery boot (adb reboot recovery):
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) recovery-partition with CWM where i may unpack all the .zip stuff to proper partitions, or restore from sdcard, etc.
Is this correct? I wonder, because i didn't installed CWM into recovery-partition. It cames from install of CM10 (fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img), so it must be in boot-partition and not in recovery?
So, next confusion: i looked up to /proc/mtd and i don't see neither boot nor recovery partition here:
Quote:
# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 19000000 00040000 "system"
mtd1: 00600000 00040000 "appslog"
mtd2: 06580000 00040000 "cache"
mtd3: 1a400000 00040000 "userdata"
I did a backup with CWM and loocked the data. There aren't boot, and recovery backups:
Quote:
# ls -lha /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-04.18.49.55/
d---rwxr-x 2 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:56 .
d---rwxr-x 3 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:49 ..
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 1.6K Oct 4 18:54 .android_secure.vfat.dup
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 54.6M Oct 4 18:55 cache.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 360.2M Oct 4 18:53 data.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 212 Oct 4 18:56 nandroid.md5
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 214.6M Oct 4 18:51 system.yaffs2.img
#
So, i think i didn't understand the boot sequence and partition schema corectly.

I am trying to do some low level performance testing related to device processor cores through adb which I feel it is affected by Android background services and system stuff.
As I know that the Android boot sequence stages are as follow:
1.Execute Boot ROM code.
2.Execute the boot loader.
3.Load the Linux kernel.
4.Launch Zygote, which initializes the Dalvik VM.
5.System server which loads the Android system.
So my question is how can I interrupt this sequence to force it stop on stage 3 to load Linux kernel. This can implement my intermediary performance testings before loading again Android system.
Does Fastboot or Clockworkmod recovery can load my device to a kind of Linux kernel?

Instead of seeing the boring old Android logo or my service provider's logo, I'd love to see the standard text-based Linux boot screen that shows the status of all the hardware and configuration info as my phone boots. My current phone is an HTC EVO 3D running Cool ICS with Sense 3.6 and Revolutionary CWM.

This time the device would not boot past the motorola logo. I took out the battery and attempted to boot but again the device got stuck at the moto logo.

when putting your phone on vibrate, it should automatically know to vibrate when you receive notifications, be it emails or messages. instead, as it stands, you must go into the settings for the individual app and check "vibrate". this is super annoying. i have found a work around for messages. i use sms popup. without even enabling vibrate in that app or the messages app, when i put my phone on vibrate now, it vibrates when i get a message. but, is anyone else having the same issue regarding vibrate? is this how it's designed to work? if so, it needs to be changed.

I use Google Voice for all SMS notifications. I use the Gmail application for my email.Does anyone know of an application that will vibrate my phone at a certain interval, e.g., every 2 minutes, until I actually open my phone and acknowledge that I've received the notification?I would LOVE THIS! I used to have a phone that did this and it came in handy. I find that my Incredible's vibrations are a little light, and I often miss important texts when it's on vibrate.

I was halfway through the 2.1 update & it came up with an error saying that the update had failed. I now can't turn on my phone. At first I thought it might be a flat battery issue (even though my battery was at 100% before starting the update). After having the mains charger plugged in for over an hour, there was no activity on the LED. When I try to power on the phone, it vibrates but nothing.
When I plug the phone into the PC USB lead, the green light comes on for about 10 seconds, then goes off for a couple of seconds. Again, if I try to power on the phone, it vibrates but nothing else. While I have the phone plugged in via USB, the PC Companion tries to recognize the phone, it does but then says it's not connected as if it's cycling the power just long enough to connect then disconnect. I've also tried all of the above without the SIM card and SD Card in.
