Alot of the MHL adapters are sold with "for Samsung galaxy S II" or "for Galaxy S3", but they look exactly the same, so are they model specific or can be used on Android phone?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Android app that has both CursorAdapter based ListViews (backed by sqlite) as well as custom BaseAdapter based ListViews which are built on the fly from JSON pulled down from a server.
The data displayed in both is identical - an image and a couple of TextViews. My Cursor-based ListView has 3000 rows, the JSON-based ListView has about 30. However, scrolling down the list is significantly faster for the Cursor-based adapter. For the JSON-based lists, the data is all fetched before the rows are made visible. Images for both types of lists are downloaded on-demand.
I have both ListViews configured identically - both with fastScrollEnabled, scrollingCache and smoothScrollbar set to true.
I'm looking for leads on how to go about trying to figure out what's going on here and to potentially fix it so that the JSON-based ListViews as as fast as the Cursor-based ones.
I have had androids for over two years now and am getting more and more concerned every time I download an app and seeing that it wants to READ my SMS message and Contacts.
Is there a way I can disable reading of SMS messages or any one of the other permissions by specific apps, or all apps?
Are we living in a world where any "joe schmo" can upload an app the to the app store and wait for those inadvertent downloads and collect all your personal information, and that's after all the time we spend protecting our identity and personal details?
need a way to sync/listen to music to 2 Android devices and multiple PCs and trying to get the following functions:
1.) Ability to upload all songs to cloud
2.) Ability to listen to everything in the cloud or set some as "Offline" on mobile devices and laptops
3.) Ability to create playlists that stay synced( meaning if I add or remove a song on mobile it shows on desktop, all changes synced everywhere )
4.) Ability to rate songs from 1 - 5 ( much like iTunes, MediaMonkey, etc... )
5.) And this is the big one! The ability to create Smart Playlists like on iTunes based on Ratings that stay synced everywhere( Changing rating on mobile changes everywhere )
I think I've found all of the above in most services except 4 and 5. I cannot find a service that allows detailed ratings( 1 - 5, not Google Music's thumb up or down( how useless is that ) ) and also couldn't find smart playlist functionality anywhere.
I need ratings and smart playlists, and the only other option I can think of is moving my music to Dropbox, installing Media Monkey so it looks at Dropbox for ratings and smart playlists( or views, whatever they call it ). But this leaves me out of luck on mobile devices.
I'd like to use Google Music but it doesn't have the rating / playlist stuff, non of them do, well not smart playlists anyways.
Im looking a way how to change the hostname on a Android 4.2.2 device without using a app. I am rooted so if something has to be modified, thats OK.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a refurbished AT&T Galaxy S3 (i747) and it appears to have the T-Mobile (T999) bootloader for some reason.Putting a T-Mobile sim in registers on the network and for some reason I get H+, which I didn't think was possible with the I747 AT&T model. Don't have an AT&T sim to test with at the moment.I've tried flashing the I747 4.1.2 bootloader but I get different error messages depending on which recovery I use to flash it.
My primary concern right now is how can I fix this boot loader issue so I can get a more recent rom like AOKP 4.4 on it?
when the Optimus V came out, I found a thread either on here or XDA about how to change the model number to think it was a different phone. I did this to allow for the usage of Netflix, and I think I may have changed it to a Nexus model..
My current phone, the Optimus F7, is rooted and running stock Android 4.1.2 JB. (I rooted in order to allow for uninhibited tethering from my carrier.)I have browsed here, XDA, and countless pages on Bing and Google... yet I have found nothing about doing this... to any phone.My only desire (not the phone) is to make my F7 think it's - at least - a Galaxy S3. Many of my friends, coworkers and family have the S3 and I figure out things and solve problems on their phones, yet I find nothing on my own, so I simply wanted to turn it into an S3.
I am aware that I could simply get an S3, but I have had horrid luck with Samsung devices (not software) in the past, but have had wonderful luck with LG devices.
I recieved a 7" tablet as a gift, however I don't know what model or make it is ( I don't really know much about android). All it says on the box is Tablet PC so I was wondering if there was a way to find out by using the system. I already have checked the model number and all of the stuff in the settings, and none of it seems to work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust looking at options for data updating affecting items in a ListView and have hit a few issues/queries.
There seems to only be notifyDataSetChanged() and notifyDataSetInvalidated(). While I could use notifyDataSetChanged() I am most likely in my case to have the scenario where additional data has been added and it seems inefficient to say the data has changed, which can only be resolved by calling getCount() and then getView() for all displayed items where knowing the data has been appended would just require adjusting the scrollbar. Is there some way to achieve something similar to this as the market seems happy populating dynamically in a manner that seems to reflect my desired behaviour (unless it just refreshes it all that fast).
Next question is the situation where the data behind just one item has changed. For instance I may wish to download icons in a background thread, but display available information with a placeholder icon. The best idea I've had so far is to store a map of indexes and views in my adapter which I can check against then call getView directly myself to have the view recycled with the new data. I'd just need additional logic to handle removing the map when the view gets destroyed or when it's recycled in getView. Either a bi-directional map (do we have one of those?) or two maps. Is the above likely to be my best approach or is there something built-in/better to get it done.

View 22 Replies View RelatedSo last night I finally got around to unlocking NAND and loading Myns 2.2 RLS2. I like this rom so far. My bluetooth now works like it is supposed as opposed to Fresh.But my radios are a little behind with Myns. I thought about updating them to the newest versions as linked in the Fresh thread, but I was wondering. Are the radios tweaked for the specific roms or will all radios (and wimax, PRI, PRL, and NV) work with all roms?
