Motorola Droid X :: Lost All Pictures - SPMO Files Still There / Recover Them?

Sep 1, 2010

I had my Droid X plugged into my computer and the next day when I was using it, noticed that all of my pictures were gone. My DCIM folder is empty, with all 100 pics missing.

I do have a folder in the DCIM folder called SPMO files and it has many .spmo files that are roughly 500k each in size.

Does anyone know what happened to all of my pictures and is there any way to recover them. I've tried a restart and that did not work. Has anyone else had this happen to them.

General :: How To Recover Locked Out Devices With Lost Username And Password

Oct 21, 2012

Recently i received a unbranded 7" tablet with ICS firmware which was locked permanently because of too many wrong attempts to unlock device. I used adb to break the lock and successfully booted it again for regular use.

First you require the following things:
1. usb debugging active on your device(if debugging is not on then you cannot use this method)
2. adb shell on your computer (follow this thread for adb [URL] .....)
3. usb cable to connect your device to your pc or laptop.
4. Usb debugging drivers if not installed from here [URL] .....

How to unlock:
1. connect your device to pc and install drivers.
2. open the folder where you installed the adb for dummies and search for adb.exe
3. right click holding shift on the free space in folder containing adb.exe and select open command window here.
4. typre following commands separately by pressing enter after each line:

adb shell
cd /data
rm -r data
reboot

Your device will reboot and you will not have any password to enter and a free unlocked device again.

NOTE- this will not work on all devices but it will work on unbranded , chinese and local tablets . i confirmed this method on CHAMPION WTAB 7.2 AND KROSS tablet ics. Be careful not to delete the /data folder, you have to delete data folder under data folder(/data/data). so just enter the commands as they appear and it will be fine.

Problem is when I plug in my phone, open the usb mass storage, and click Recover Deleted Files, it says, "Android device not connected! A Cable might be unplugged!" My computer is recognizing the device, but for some reason it's still saying this but I know it doesn't have anything to do with the cable.

General :: Recover Lost Files From Internal SDCard Of Android Phones

Mar 12, 2014

Today android phones are coming with an internal storage which is called the internal sdcard. Because of this the need for external sdcards is vanishing day by day. But when your phone is factory reset you lost all the data stored in it while in case of external sdcard you have an option to save your data. If you accidently lost all the data stored in your phone then don't worry I have a solution to get it back. This trick will work on phones having mass storage mode support, if you are running android 4.1 jellybean and above then root your phone to get mass storage( the tutorial is different for different phones),

If you have accidently lost all your files, photos and videos from your phone then after this do not copy new files to the phone. This also include clicking photos and capturing videos. If you copy new files to the phone then you are actually reducing your chances to get back your deleted photos and videos and other files. In short just don't download anything to your phone, do not use the internet on your phone till the time when you get back your lost files back.

This trick will only work on android phones having mass storage mode and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) options. If your device is rooted then you can enable mass storage mode on your android phone. After enabling mass storage mode you can get back deleted photos, videos and all files from the internal storage of any android phone.

Requirements
1. Recuva for Windows 7, Windows 8
2. A USB data cable.

Now Follow The Steps Below
-Download and install recuva. While installation do not uncheck any option.
-Now connect your android phone in mass storage mode. Connect it to pc a notification will appear in the phone, tap it to enable mass storage.
-Now open My computer and you will see Removable disk.
-Open recuva and click Next, on the next step All Files will auto selected. Again click Next. Then choose In a specified location and click Browse.Choose the removable disk or MTP disk here and click Next.
-In next step put a check mark in Enable Deep Scan and click Start.
-After scan is finished you will see the list of all deleted files. Green circles is means that file can be recovered while red circle means unrecoverable file.
-Now check the box next to Filename to select all files. Click Recover on the bottom right and choose Desktop .Your deleted files will be recovered.

General :: How To Access Hidden Folder On Android (4.3) / Recover Lost Files On Nexus 7

Oct 7, 2013

I have lost a few pdfs which I have been reading for weeks (!) on my Nexus 7 (Android 4.3). Via the reading history of my pdf reader (Moon+ reader) I can see that at least one file is still present in the cache under the following folder address: /data/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/cache/filecache2/c042587322c4a438463efbd2cc533cbf/mypdf1.pdf

How can I access this folder? When accessing the device via the Android File Transfer sofware for Mac, I don't see this folder. I have access to Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files, but this folder contains no files but only another folder (called "pinned_doc_files_not_for_edit") which is also empty.

The lost pdf is still there, I can open it in the reader via the reading history, but I would like to access the folder to see whether other lost files (which are not in the reading history) are also still present. To be clear, the file which I can open is also not detected when searching the device for pdfs.

General :: Lost Pictures On SD Card?

Jun 19, 2013

I currently have the Galaxy S4. When I switch from the Droid Charge to S4 i put my SD card into my new phone.During the week I was able to see all of my pictures on the new phone then on saturday 6/8 half of my pictures disappeared. I called Verizon and of course they are saying its a corrupt sd card.

This is what I did so far. I removed my SIM card and placed it into a card reader and attached it to my computer. On my PC I unhide the following

- show hidden files, folders and drives

-unhide empty drives in the computer folder

I went thru all folders and could not find anything.

/storage/emulated/0
/storage/ExtStcard

I also looked at the device while the SIM card was inserted into the phone.

Android :: Lost My Apps - How To Recover

I lost my G1 a couple weeks ago (like an idiot) and had to buy a new one. I was able to get back all the apps I purchased before, but not some of the free ones. For example, fbook was on my old phone and it's not in the market anymore.

Does anyone have that app that they can email to me or does anyone know how I can recover my own?

LG Eve : Way To Recover Lost SMS / Get Log Of Past Notifications

Oct 29, 2010

I was using some buggy firmware for my android (LG GW620, running OpenEtna 6.1RC1 which is running Android 2.2)

I was running a lot of apps and presumable I was low on memory (not sure if this info was useful) when an SMS came in from an important person.

I saw the sms notification from Handcent SMS in the notification bar but when I clicked on it, Handcent opens to an empty screen with no message but just the number on top. Thinking that I might have clicked wrongly somehow, I pressed back which brought me to the screen with the list of SMSes. However, that latest SMS wasn't there at all! I tried the default Messaging app and it wasn't there too.

And it was then that I realized I should have at least taken down the number it was sent from. Now I have no idea what number it came from or what that message was about other than the first 3 words which appeared in the notifications bar when the message first came.

I've been googling for a solution to see if its possible to recover SMS but there seems to be no solution short of sending it for forensic services. Does anyone know how I can retrieve any info at all?

Alternatively, does Android keep a log file of all notifications that appears on the bar? If so, does anyone know where it is stored and if it can be recovered? I just need the phone number...

Jun 21, 2010

I frequently (once a week), will manually check for firmware, PRL, etc. updates. Yesterday, I tried whatever "Update Profile" is and after that I lost all of my pictures and videos. Is that what did it? Or do I have another issue here? Or did it happen after I took a pic of my home screen with Shoot Me? Also, I'm pretty sure I just copied my videos file from my PC (30 AVI's) to my SD card and then phone read them. Now, it won't, any after some research it doesn't look like the EVO even supports AVI? I'm pretty sure I didn't' convert anything than one DVD. Otherwise this phone is suhweet. 32GB cards can't come fast enough.

I only ask because I am currently stuck in a boot animation loop. I am able to communicate with my phone via adb during the animation loop and while in the bootloader recovery. Wiping the data and and factory resetting doesn't solve the problem.

I am thinking about pulling those two files from my wife's phone which is the same phone (Samsung Proclaim) and pushing them to mine.

General :: How To Recover Bricked ZTE V9

Mar 9, 2012

I have a [Gen2] ZTE v9 Tab which had 2.2 as the stock OS which I managed to get upgraded to 2.3 using modcore everything was gr8. I pushed my luck little further and tried to install Android ICS in order to do that I did a TPT using image file and after doing that my tab is bricked.

It's not booting into the OS I tried to get into the FTM mode but that doesn't work now only thing that work's is the ADB I tried the recovery methods that can be done through ADB but it says "sh:/sbin/recovery xxxx" missing.

What I think is that the system partition was recreated and Is there any way that I can get the system files on to the tab using ADB or a way to copy entire directory on to the tab using the ADB.

Got the system to boot to FTM but when I try to flash it the software fails and gives a error "Failed to Get aprmg x x x " some thing like that if there's a way to skip this I'll be able to get my tab back to working condition.

General :: (XT920) Recover ROM From IMG

Jul 5, 2013

Recently I've tried to port CWM to my device following this tutorial and it bricked... It did not boot in any mode (Recovery, Fastboot or Normal) after doing this (stuck on motorola logo/boot menu).

Managed to flash the XT920_2_290_2014 back on my device and unbrick it, but I want to install XT920_2_310_2014 back.

There are some Stock ROMs available on the internet, but these ROMs are outdated compared to my original ROM...

The ROMs available are: XT920_2_290_2014_A01_MP (Tim Brazil) and XT920_2_290_2009_A01_MP (Retail), and my original ROM was XT920_2_310_2014_A01_MP.

The backup script in this tutorial created a few files files: recovery.img, system.img, boot.img...

Is there any way to "reflash" these backups to my device?

Here is a printscreen from my original ROM:

And a printscreen from the "new" ROM:

General :: How To Recover Corrupted Photos

Oct 14, 2013

My mother-in-law ran out of space on her Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, 32GB (note that she has no microSD, only internal memory), and requested that I get everything onto a DVD to clear up some space. I initially copied and pasted 3 folders of her photos (approximately 800+ files) into a re-writable DVD successfully and she was happy with it. She got me to delete those folders on her phone. Following that, she decided that she needs more space so she wanted me to do a cut and paste into the DVD instead. Since a cut and paste is much faster than a copy and paste, I very much obliged. There were up to 12 folders containing 4,000-5,000 photos from her various trips around the world. The estimated time to completion was around 2-3 mins, so I decided to surf the internet a little while waiting. To my dismay, I realized that my mother-in-law was looking through her photos "one last time" before it disappears from her phone - But I couldn't do anything else to salvage what she did at that point of time. Unsurprisingly, the photos were all corrupted and although they managed to fit into my DVD (total of 2.02GB), each of the corrupted file was 3.2-3.5GB in size!! I have no idea how that is possible, but it still says that when I look in its properties. No clue how all of that can fit in a tiny DVD, but I guess the corrupted photos were presenting inaccurate information. Anyways, surprise surprise, no photos in her phone as well. I ensured that she did not use her phone at all since, to make sure any existing memory of the photos will not be overwritten. She has never ever backed up her phone since buying it last year - I just did one with Keis that took 4.5 hrs.

I have since tried several of the top data recovery software on both the phone and DVD with no luck at all. With regards to the S3, it is on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and has no USB mass storage capabilities (no "USB Utilities" option in settings). I have tried looking at apps to unlock UMS, but none works with internal memory for the S3. Also, most programs require rooting of the phone which I cannot risk voiding her warranty with. Furthermore, who knows what will happen to the memory of the lost photos when I root the phone and rollback the version (was planning to get it back to ice-cream sandwich so that I can access UMS). Tried using flashtool to downgrade the phone as well, but can't find a suitable ROM (again, not confident of keeping lost photo memory by doing that - don't wanna risk it).
