I just have a small question. Currently i'm using JB on mij HTC One X. I have Google Now activated and also my auto sync enabled.
But do i NEED to keep my auto sync enabled for Google Now or should it also work if I turn it off?
It do saves me alot of battery in the case I don't have to.

Managing Galaxy Note I & IIs running Android 4.1.2 and would like to direct network/browser traffic to a URL filtering service through a proxy server. Can confirm or deny (with supporting reference material) that Jelly Bean (specifically Android v4.1.2) has support for PAC files to configure proxy settings? The browsers I want to redirect to the proxy are Internet V4.1.2 (default with version 4.1.2 Android OS) and Chrome V 25.0.1364.169. Pointers to how to set proxies for those specific browser releases is also welcome.
If PAC file support does exist where does the PAC file need to be installed? How is it typically installed? Any documentation that reviews the PAC file support.
Is there a way to configure the Google Play Store or a third party App which will automatically update ALL of my apps without having to apply the updates manually on the Google Play app? I'm on the DROID RAZR MAXX with Jellybean 4.1.2. My phone is REALLY slow when updating and I keep having to touch the screen or it halts (I think) the updates.
View 4 Replies View RelatedLast week I purchased a new Note 2 (which I love!) and one of the first things I did was to sync with my Google account and get my Google contacts installed back on the phone. Second thing was to install the Facebook app and sync my Google contacts with their appropriate FB profile photos, account info from Facebook. However, upon telling Facebook to sync with currently existing contacts, I noticed that my Contacts list was now populated with *ALL* of my facebook friends.
Previously on my Evo 4G running Gingerbread 2.3.5, this worked perfectly. My Google contacts were the only contacts listed but their FB profile data showed up just fine. I seen there were some 3rd party apps on the Play Store that will do this, but I'm wondering if there is a way to do it with just the original FB app.

Everything works very well. I haven't noticed any hangups at all, with the exception of 1. my google latitude contacts don't sync. they appear on my desktop but dont appear on my phone with latitude installed.
I'd like to know if there's a way to backup and restore all your configured sync accounts within JB.
I find it very annoying to have to redo each one after every flash.
Unfortunately TitaniumBackup doesn't work well for this anymore
I have a 2013 Nexus 7 with 4.3 installed but my apps won't update automatically. I have sync on as well. Do they update at certain times of the day or are they supposed to update as new updates become available?

I've got no problem with her downloading the universe when connected to my ADSL but preferably not through cellular data.
How I can go about disabling this "auto-disabling" of the Wi-Fi connection when it detects that it is slow? I couldn't find the option but I also find the S4's settings a tad disorganised.
I don't have this happening on my phone (BB10) so I wasn't expecting this to happen and she doesn't check the symbol at the top to see whether it's on Wi-Fi or not.

I bought a couple of cheap case covers from China and as far as I understand they might not have the right material which causes the IR to be reflected instead of being absorbed.
I don't mind it locking really, aside from maybe a bigger battery consumage, since I often hear it locking itself while in my pocket.
No, my main problem is, with some of the covers, if I flip the front cover side to the back so I can hold the phone easily, it locks.
For example, the 2 I have on me, the leather one locks if I flip it over, the plastic one doesn't.
Really I'd like to disable the function alltogether, I prefer locking it myself together with the trusty 30s idle lock.
How do I disable auto locking when closing case cover.
I gave up on Samsung, with their useless support.I would like my contacts and calendar to be the same at all times on my computer (windows 7 outlook 2010) on my phone (Note 3 with 4.3) and on my iPad (air)..I've been trying to sync outlook to the android, but no luck.So thought I will try to sync the iCloud to the Android, maybe that works.

My mind is pretty much set for this laptop although expensive I'm sure it will last me through college (tenth grade atm) and that's what I want. Anyway my main concern is that my phone won't sync well with the laptop and I want to be able to download stuff onto my phone, along with seeing my videos and photos. Even though its an Apple computer will it work just as well as an iPhone would with this laptop?

I purchased my first smartphone last week, a Windows Lumia. I am returning the phone tomorrow because Microsoft forces the user to sync contacts, calendar, and documents if the user wants to download apps. I find this a huge privacy invasion. What a shame Microsoft doesn't give me q choice to disable this syncing.
so, before I waste even more money...does Android allow me to download apps AND disable syncing of phone contacts, cal, pictures, etc?I will return this phone anway and NEVER own a smartphone.
I just bought my first android phone after years with Apple iphones. A sony Xperia Z1.
One of the biggest question I have right now is photo sync. My partner an I are using the same gmail ID on both devices and we use google+ to automatically upload our images.
we were wondering like with iCloud if it was possible to also automatically download images. For instant, if i happen to take a picture with my phone it uploads to google picassa, is there a way for my partners phone to automatically download this image to the phone? so both phones have identical photo albums ?

I made an account on my wife's phone and everything shows up. I made an account for my wife on my phone and it shows no syncs available. So I know it's not an account problem, rather a software problem?

I wanted to go to the play store on my tab to update an app I had but I couldn't connect to the store at all. So I went to the my account under the in the settings app and I saw that its been having some sync issues. I kept retrying the sync but it kept failing. So I deleted the account off of my tablet and tryed to log back in. Now it won't even log in and its telling me it can't establish a reliable connection to the server and takes me to the WiFi options in settings.
I dont know whats wrong. My internet works perfectly fine. I can surf the web, watch videos, download and even play apps that require an online connection on my tab but I can't use any Google services for some reason.
I am using a locally made make of phone called a Firefly. My last phone was a samsung, which was way too small and too slow.
When I first added my google account to my andoid phone, I thought nothing of it syncing the contacts. I did not realize that google had kindly created a contact for every single person I had ever emailed in my entire life. For most people, I am sure that this is quite an accurate list, but I manage a business, so I get lots of emails from people and systems that I never need on my phone.
When I first noticed this, I disabled syncing of contacts and manually removed all the contacts from my phonebook. This left me with a nice neat list of contacts. Great. But... When I go to send a text message and add a recipient, I am displayed with a gigantic list of thousands of contacts, most of whom are email addresses and at least 98% of whom are people I would never ever want to send a text message to.
I have searched everywhere, but can not find any way to access this contact list within my phone so I can clean it. The only solution I have been able to find is to first delete all contacts from google, then enable sync, then disable sync after it completes. This is really not ideal as I need these contacts in my google account, but not on my phone.
I have a Coolpad 8720L with its own interface built upon 4.3 Jelly Bean. It's not very good, and I'd like to install stock Android instead. How do I do this?
I heard that I have to root the device, and then find a ROM for stock Jelly Bean to load onto the device?

I select the page where all the apps are...select xbmc app...sometimes it flicks back to main apps page other times the screen turns black/blank. I can't get further than this page....my box has worked perfectly for the past 3 months since purchasing. I can't get into the settings page as I can't get past the blank .

The last action I did before it worked was to uninstall the 'microsoft outlook app'.
I'm trying to limit my mobile data usage with out jumping through hoops.
I'm looking for a widget, that with one click of a button, it can restrict background data, disable auto-sync and enable mobile data, and when pressed again, enable WiFi, disable background restriction and enable auto-sync.
This function, no matter how trivial, would save time and effort.
Is there anything like this out there? Would something like this require root?
