I have a Note 2, Sony Xperia Z and Samsung Galaxy S.
I want to go back to Talk from Hangouts on the Note 2 and Hangouts. I had noticed that there was an option to uninstall Hangouts in Google Play sometime back, but now, today, September 2, I can no longer find that option. I also tried to go into Application Manager and uninstall it from there. It's not there.

It just started randomly. If I pinch to go to Page order or open or close folders the phone is giving me voice feedback. I've turned off talk back and all its options.

I am using IMO for Instant Messaging and so i removed the TALK app from my Nexus one (running Oxygen Rom) using Titanium backup.Recently there was an update in TALK app and i wanted to try it (Hangouts) so i installed it from the playstore. It was very slow on my mobile so i removed it again.
Now i am getting Talk notifications (with the old TALK icon) in the notification bar. along with the IMO notifications. When i click on the Talk notifications it does not open any app. and the messages that are notified by TALK are missing in the IMO app so its very frustrating.
So i thought it must be the HANGOUTS app and re installed it from the Play Store. Now i get Hangout notification, Talk notification and IMO notification. I removed the Hangouts app from the Application Manager and i still getting the TALK notifications.
Screwed up and uninstalled Gtalk inside Titanium. Any ideas how to get it back? Try extracting it from PC36IMG.zip? But how do I extract it as it doesn't seem to be a normal?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Android phone and I'm loving the updates since my last one (which was running Jelly Bean). I'm using SMS on the Hangouts app, but I'm confused because it separates SMS messages from Hangout messages even from the same person. I have two different conversations going on with my wife, which is a little frustrating, and not substantially better than just having the Hangouts app separate from an SMS app.
I was hoping the threads would integrate so that I could keep having the same conversation in a single thread, even when I want to use SMS instead of 4G.
my friend recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note. Messages sent by others to her on Google Hangouts are not displayed. It runs on Android 4.1.2. I want to know what to do now...

I don't use it, nor will I ever use it, so why does it have to be on my phone? I am so sick of having it pop up in Play Store reminding me to update it, when I don't even use it. I would rather it be deleted from my phone so I will never be prompted to update it again. The saddest part is they must know what a complete dud this app is as they've removed the uninstall tab on the play store page (well for me its removed and I can't uninstall it from the play store) but they remind me the needs updating ...
New to Android and trying figure hangouts little. I am already setup in it, am I required to "add" my friends/family to it before I can do texting and such?
On my phone, I know with the Kitkat update it wants to use Google hangouts. I have not set it to use it as it keeps saying I need to add everyone in people to hangouts.
I want to make sure I am going to spam my friends and family to join hangouts as they are not on it and do not want too.
So my question is when I go into the Hangouts app theres a contact in the "Frequently Contacted" but I have no idea who it is. I just want to remove it from my list but cant figure out how.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently started using Google Hangouts instead of SMS (TextMessaging). The only issue I have is that the numbers I havent added any areacode to gets the areacode for Sweden (+46), and this is ONLY on Google Hangouts.
When I go back to the regular SMS app, the areacode is removed, and I can again send SMS without sending it to Sweden first.
I'm from Norway if it matters (+47). But the phone itself is imported from Sweden, but I'm using Norwegian as language. I checked my gmail. I have my country set to Norway.
I bought a nexus 4 recently, upgraded it to 4.3 and i noticed that it keeps me online on my google account all the time(on gtalk/hangouts).
I signed out from hangouts from my phone, it does sign me out from gtalk, but after sometime i guess some application is running and changing it to "online" again.
I know that the next kitkat update makes galaxy s4 users from Verizon use Google hangouts. So in preparation of this coming, is there anyway to sync hangouts with Facebook contacts? My biggest issue is that I want the Facebook pictures of the person I am talking to to show up in hangouts similar to how it does/did in the text messaging app.

I can contact them fine when using the desktop interface, but when trying to use any form of mobile platform, whether that be phone or tablet, the app force closes. I'm always getting short texts from people instead of one long one. So my phone dings/vibrates for each one. I want to know about the first one, but not every one after that, at least until I put my phone down again.
If it was possible to do this on a per-contact basis, that would be even better.
I'm fine with rooting my phone or whatever else I need to do to fix this.

I've created groups of a subset of my contacts (friends, family, co-workers etc), but there appears no useful way to use them. I would like to send a text to (say) family without having to select contacts individually in Hangouts, but that does not appear to be possible. Most of the add-on apps I've looked at for group texting are rich with other features I don't care about.

There's been apps like Groove IP that are already able to provide this feature. I'd just like to have this functionality without having to install any 3rd party apps that always have to be running in the background. Google Hangouts is already the primary sms app for Android & so it is already able to receive texts, mms, along with video and voice chats. Thus, it should be somewhat possible to receive call forwarding from Google voice.
In Gmail's Google Talk on the computer, if a contact goes offline, you have the option to "continue the conversation via SMS," in which you can chat to someone's phone and the message will send as an SMS to their phone - useful if they go offline.
Is there any way that this can be done on *Android*? I was trying this out with a friend the other day, and normally when you start a chat on Gmail via Gtalk, it will show up on your Android devices in your Google Talk conversations. Unfortunately, when trying to use the chat to SMS function, that doesn't work.
My custom ROM didn't come with Google Talk. I don't want another IM client that can have Google talk on it i want the real thing. I have tried loading talk in system/app but it didn't load. Another time i tried again it came in the app drawer but when i opened it it crashed. I am running salty bean ROM and devil kernel. does this kernel support it or not? I did set the permissions correctly and still no luck.

I have Maps, Gmail, Google Translate etc installet so I guess I have most of the necessary framework, but trying to just install the Talk.apk for Android 2.3.7 (from the gapps package for CM) didn't work (it didn't even install).

I recently flashed Galaxy Captivate with Dark knight ROM v5.5. Everything went well and then I installed latest GApps (20120429). All other Google Apps works except GTalk. If I try to install it via adb it gives error like:
'INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES'.
When will hangouts be updated on Android to make calls for free. It seems very uncool that it came to iOS first. I know this has probably been posted here before about the subject.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a nexus 5 and my girlfriend has a moto x. When she does "Ok google now, send text to Alex" and sends a text that way I get a SMS message in my hangouts inbox. But she also can send a text with hangouts and I have 2 seperate conversations going on with her at the same time and its really annoying. If Hangouts is the default, and ONLY messaging app on both of our phones, why does this happen? I thought Hangouts was the text/video/etc all in one thing. I've posted on G+ pages but couldn't get much back. Also when I send start a new hangout with somebody from my contacts, it automatically labels it an SMS message. I don't know if its because they dont have some sort of Gmail account linked up with their phone or they dont have a picture/profile set up or what. It's just so annoying to have 2 simultaneous conversations going on with the same person.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy S4 and been using GoSMS from about day 1. I gave Hangouts a try with it's latest version and like what I see. The problem I am running into is, I'm not getting any notifications of new messages, though I have notifications on in the settings.
I disabled all notifications in GoSMS and they stopped but still none from Hangouts. I've googled and googled and tried various recommendations to no avail so I'm reaching out here for some assistance.
